  1. really helpful post there showtime... anyways, it was a well played game for both teams (i know the score doesn't say that)...farragut definitely had their chances. ben played really well as usual and although he didn't score, tom played very well for bearden. in my opinion farragut just got out coached. the players all played pretty well (adam was in goal though). farragut (except on the goal) let bearden set up in their defense and brian played his normal game and dominated anything in the box. the goals pretty much all came on counters i think where bearden had everyone 7 defending and farragut had 7 attacking and bearden would win the ball and play it long and let their forwards go 1 v 1 and get the ball for a breakaway. all the goals came when each team had numbers on the attack. the first was great recognition of the open goal from about 40 yards and hemmingway just put it on frame...the rest of bearden's were great balls slotted through that farragut just couldn't handle...on farragut's #12 was on the right wing and sent a ball back post and ben volleyed a rocket near post to beat walker. good luck to both at state...they should each go far
  2. i'm glad you're playing down the magnitude of this game and calling it a "scrimmage" after you lost. I'm pretty sure that both teams wanted to win this game pretty bad...no one likes to go into state with the bad taste of a loss in their mouth. And, their was certainly a good amount of skill demonstrated in the game...i'm not sure if you were watching when marvin and stein tore up the middle for webb the whole second half...maybe not so much baylor seeing as they came out flat but it was certainly an enjoyable game to watch from either standpoint.
  3. I'll take CAK gettin their revenge in this one. They play so well together and are due for an outstanding game. They've been playing relatively well but haven't had a really great game in a few...I'll say they put this one away in regular time.
  4. Webb 1-0 on a goal by Stein around the middle of the 1st half
  5. good call cincy on the easy win for baylor...today webb had the better chances, was better conditioned, and was just the better team overall. baylor had one legit chance in the second half and that was in stoppage time. the refs were good today and let the game go for the most part. it was a hard fought game by both teams, baylor just didn't seem to have it. and to everyone who talks about that phenomenal back line they have...if webb had finshed a little better the game could have been 3-0 just as pinball was predicting.
  6. brick, i like it haha i've also talked to many of webb's players and they're not really feeling any "heat." the pressure is on baylor becausethey were the ones who lost earlier this year. Webb knows they can win and they're playing at home. I'm not saying that webb is taking this game lightly or anything because they're not, it's just that they're not going to come out and play nervous. They've played in enough big games this year with their schedule that this game should be no different. And when you think about it, both teams are going to come out firing. there's not a whole lot to lose in this game because at state you're going to have to beat everyone at one point or another to win so seeding isn't all that huge since there are no byes. Baylor's looking for some revenge and pride back but I think Webb will be ready and hold on to win by 1.
  7. i'm just talkin like this b/c you got your panties in a wad over a harmless post. and fyi i don't play for anyone so i'm not really helpin anyone out, i'm just a really well informed and knowledgeable observer, glad you know your stuff too though, all you're doin is makin yourself look bad...awesome job. i wasn't makin an out and out attack on you in the first place, just commenting on two aspects of the game that could prove important...your hot head is showing its ugly face right now on this forum. i love how your entire team lives for this stuff...ya'll just need to take it easy, people are always going to talk, its a way of life. anyways, glad you put it by the keeper when it counted tonight bro. dins---i know this goin back and forth is terrible. i just had to say somethin after everyone just blew up following a post where i was tryin to make a point...so i'm done for now on this one.
  8. yeah i know dude and i do know my stuff. what i was referring to was how some untimely outbursts and numerous cards have hurt your team. i wasn't trying to start anything, just pointing out some details, but since you took it there... And, if you'd read, i also mentioned how you now have david back for this game which greatly helps the attack. cak plays so well as a team some ill-advised tantrums (most recently in the farragut game) can upset that and aren't good for anyone involved...it does the team no good, so i'm glad you're really helping there. also i like how you refer to yourself in the third person...real cute
  9. Farragut 3 Bearden 1...i don't have any details though
  10. I'll definitely agree with that. His goals have not only been of the highest quality but at the times when the team needed them most. However, he did not have the equalizer at McCallie, he scored the first not the second. That small detail aside he is hands down one of the very best strikers in the State. He starts a year up for State Champs Arsenal, ODP, and has a powerful and accurate shot...not to mention he is one of the fastest with the ball on his feet.
  11. Russell from Farragut is playing at U of Richmond and Ben Backstrom is playing at W. Kentucky
  12. Playing at Catholic on the cramped field hurts CAK i think. However with David back from injury and if Tarr keeps a cool head i think CAK will take it by one. Should be a great game.
  13. McCallie beat Webb today 4-1. Parks was Webb's only singles win. Wes beat Walling in a close one, 7-5 in the third, but McCallie had a real show of strength today.
  14. Where is the game? I'll go with McCallie 2-1 in extra time.
  15. Are you serious?! Get your bull off here if you're going to talk like that.
  16. Webb played well today. Bo def. Tadd 1,0 Parks def. Julian 4,4 Tanz def. Crist 3,0 Walling def. Orlando 2,2 Haydek def. Wallace 6-4, 0-6, 6-2 Bo/Tanz def. Hatcher/Crist 8-3 Parks/Walling def. Julian/Orland 9-8(4) Webb wins 4-3. Huge win over Baylor today which means the two teams from the East are McCallie and Webb. Today Webb showed they can play with anyone and will be dangerous in the post season.
  17. Agreed...also Webb loses the majority of their starting lineup. Chase Nieri from Catholic too.
  18. Marv is one of the best players in the area and is absolutely not a dirty player. He plays as hard as anyone and never with the intent of hurting another player or gaining an unfair advantage. Ya'll in your "wisdom" chose to criticize a player who is liked by the overwhelming majority of the soccer community for how hard he plays and his class. Someone obviously has an extreme personal dislike for Marv and frankly, you're wrong; i think the overwhelming defense on his behalf in this thread should clearly demonstrate that fact. I'm pretty sure, whoever you are, that Marv would run circles around you up and down the field all day and every day so enough is enough. Your trash doesn't belong here...Marv is by no means "very dirty"; the support from college coaches and soccer community is proof enough for anyone that he's a great person and player.
  19. i understand the price issue and see where the bearden coach i guess was coming from...but from a distance the way he treated the kid and webb's coach on the issue of being able to have a post game talk seemed low
  20. Cody is an important part of West's game so whether or not he will play is kind of a big deal. West has been playing well without him but to have him back is certainly a boost. I'm gonnna go with Catholic by 1 or 2. Wegryn and Leader I think will handle West's attack well and Ricardo will make a lot of problems for West. It should be an awesome game.
  21. oh yeah, one more thing...i was observing from the sidelines after the game and when a kid from webb rotated a speaker just slightly to allow the webb coach to be heard in the huddle, the bearden coach went nuts. i was impressed with the tremendous amount of "class" he showed by not even showing his opponent the common courtesy of having a conversation after the game. he set a real great example for his kids there..."coach"
  22. Ayres had the goal from Webb toward the end of the first. The game was pretty evenly played in the first with good chances for both. In the second however Bearden had much better chances and won possession. Webb couldn't seem to get used to how fast and hard the field was. They weren't really ever comfortable and were not at the top of their game. The grass was short and the ball bounced a lot. Radcliffe's goal was an absolute rocket, I don't think the ball was ever above the keeper's head. It may have been a bit lucky but was a great shot nonetheless Overall it was a great and exciting game, the refs were pretty fair and both teams played hard.
  23. first of all marv is by no means a dirty player and i'm not sure who your talkin to you that agrees so much with you...he gets called and carded for more than most because he's usually the most athletically gifted player on the field and the refs aren't really in tune with whats going on. so you might want to learn what you're talking about before you come with talk like that again. also everyone needs to stop going back to the preseason...it's a time for teams to experiment and see what they have. the results are as close to meaningless as you can get. on another note this game can definitely be called a battle for the knoxville title. farragut continues to refuse to play webb and by looking at wins and losses these are the two top teams. bearden is the definite favorite but both teams are extremely deep, well coached, and talented. both are playing at the top of their games and it should be the best match of the year. looking back to last year at Webb, Webb would have won had it not been for cesar's handball goal so this will clearly be a close game. i'll go with a 1-1 tie, if not a tie it'll the victor will win by one.
  24. i'm still thinkin about it but it should be a great game. Both keepers are having phenomenal season's and both teams are strong at every position on the field. Webb might have some trouble dealing with Bearden's defense as it is somewhat similar to Baylor's and Bearden could have problems with Webb's speed and defending Hutchins who has been unstoppable lately. Either way it should be one of the matches of the year. Also let's hope TSSAA sends thier best refs to help make it a great game/
  25. yeah but where were the big saves when they needed to be made against Bearden and Webb? he's playing well this year but is not yet at the level of the best keepers
