  1. Science Hill has always had a great squad, thus I was wondering how they were this year? With the loss of Eddie Yahh as well as a faily new coach is this years' team at the level of greatness of previous years? CAK plays them Friday so I was just curious to what everyone thought...
  2. I greatly appreciate your post. Your way of putting it not only shows guts, but it also shows alot of honesty. As for CAK winning state 6 years in a row, I think it would be awesome if we did, but what if we don't? Well as fun as winning is and as fun as great players are too watch ultimately does it matter? Everyone always talks about how great CAK is for winning 5 state championships in a row, but my question for you is 6 years ago who won the championship? I don't know and does it really matter? I take soccer the game and winning way to serious most of the time, but all I can say about CAK soccer is that it hasn't been the great players that have won it the last five years. By this I mean CAK was blessed with great players previous years as you said, but through some extremely unlikely situations we have been able to use the great players with a common goal. Many teams have great players the Farraguts and the Beardens have had great players since I've been in high school. I, however, believe in God and in my opinion its been God that has given an unlikely team extraordinary blessings. Anyways I'll quit rambling, but just wanted to say I play on CAK and though I may disagree on some points I greatly appreciate your post it's what coacht is all about.
  3. Oknative, very respectable quote the protection of players heads is extremely important. I did have one question though, when you said, "A head injury may last a lifetime and ruin that players quality of living or even be fatal," how many people have you known to die from heading a soccer ball? I doubt very many. One could fracture their head and or have a "fatal" injury simply by walking down the sidewalk. I have played soccer for 13 years from church league to varsity high school and have never once had a head injury, concussion, or any of the sort from heading a soccer ball. I think many of the younger kids claiming they have a "head injury" are really complaining of a bad headache. If a player hits the ball with the proper part of his head, which should be taught in ever leauge, this shouldn't be a problem. Anyway back to the point, as a matter of fact the only head injurys I've ever seen have been by unneccessarily roughness by the other team. (Pushing another player down, taking out their legs, etc...) I think this can be weakly blamed on the ref, but in my very biased opinion your play only gets to the "dangerous" level if you let it. When you allow yourself to get so rapped up in the game that you are willing to hurt someone else to win this is on you and not the ref. If this happens I think the player(s) needs to not only evaluate his/her methods of play, but also their charater. In short I think the head protection devises are in theory a great idea. I, however, believe beyond a doubt that these would not help matters enough to even consider requiring them. I also think that the players should have a say in what they wear instead of merely conserned parents or a member of TSSAA officials, who don't even attend the games. Not trying to bash just stating my opinion. Lastly, I do agree with, "the TSSAA instead of trying to restrict the number of club players per team or the amount of time they can practice, should actually look at something that can make the game safer for the participants and not change the quality of play." Well said and quite true.
  4. Hey I'm in yeah I've never lost a tournament contest... should be a fun first time.
  5. Neal Baltuth for Hume-Fogg although underrated is a great player, and one of the key aspects that led this team to the finals.
  6. Agreed, Hume Fogg played an outstanding game, and silenced many critics. This team not only played with Cak, but had many chances at goal. It was a great game even though Hume Fogg lost they played with heart and passion throughout the game. Good luck Hume Fogg in the future and congrats on a great season.
  7. I agree that he may have been a bit harsh in his comments, however, you have to be impressed that he'll speak his mind in this way. Most people would've either not said anything or completely disrespected the team. Dins8 instead stated his thoughts in a constructive way, yet respectful manner. So sorry if you disagree no harm meant, but I'm still impressed at what Dins8 said.
  8. yes thanks again for all you said, and to answer your question we have elizabethton who beat pigeon forge. Long bus ride, but sounds like it could be a good game.
  9. I'm obviously not BigG, but I've played them my fair share this year. I would say on the left wing Chase Neiri (sorry on spelling) is a great player. Very physical great on the ball one of Catholics best players. Next Ricardo, or something like that can't exactly remember his name plays forward. Great player dangerous if allowed to turn. Number 4 on there team is yet another great player he plays center mid. Strong tall player wins many headers, and had a great shot from far out. Actually scored on us from about 30. Lastly Cathlics left fullback has incredible foot skills, and loves to take it down left flank for chip or through ball. Catholic is very strong and physical, and will give you a great game.
  10. wow sorry to copy lampost_17 in alot of what you said I didn't see your post my bad.
  11. First and foremost I play for Cak so obviously I'm a bit biased. I guess I'll start with Brandon Tarr..., and before I say this Dins8 I'm not trying to disrespect what you said I'm actually really impressed that you'll actually say whats on your mind. However, I do not entirely agree with what you said. This year I've gone from not knowing Brandon at all to being pretty decent friends with him, and if I've learned anything about him its that he is not the type of player to sit out in one of the biggest games of the year just because of a questionable injury. About warming up maybe he should take it more seriously, but thats our whole team myself included. It's hard to be serious and focused when you do the same thing every game for who knows how many games, it gets a bit old. Next about him always being out I think you said the only three games you've seen or something like that. He has been hurt or out a good bit, but to have every player on the oposing team know your name, and self-consciously probably want to get you out of the game. Not neccessarily hurt you, but he is such a threat many teams are honestly scared of him so he gets hacked and hammered every game. Thats the uglyness of high school soccer, and that leads to many tweaked ankles and injuries. Yeah Brandon at times could be a bit more serious in warmups, and possibly play harder, but I think we could all say that about ourselves if we are players at this level. So my only complaint is that yes judge, but judge the team as a whole, and possibly not single a player out as harshly. I do respect what you said though you have guts even though I disagree to a degree. Next Catholic is a great team, possibly a little more fit than us to be honest. You said the first 10 minutes we dominated or something like that. I know as a forward when things aren't going exactly right and the balls not going in the back of the net it gets real easy to stop making the runs. So the possession was I'd say alot of our fault up top, but when you have a team like Catholic that constantly presses you whenever you get the ball and is as highly skilled as they are you tend to fall into bad habbits even more quickly. I agree what your saying in this sense. Next David Pifer everyone has off games. I, however, thought he played outstanding for a good majority of the game. It's hard playing center mid as much running as it is for a start then if your forwards/wings aren't making the runs or runs at all it tends to become even harder. I think it was mostly the people off the ball's fault instead of his in the mid. Catholic played great and had a sick shot to win the game. Thank you for your honest opinion it is greatly appreciated.
  12. A player can't be a flashy player if he doesn't have flashy cleats its pretty much a rule. It's all in the cleats, the better they look the better you play...
  13. I expect this to be another hard fought game for both sides. This one if for the district championship, and is to be played at Catholic what does everyone think about the outcome.
  14. Incorrect CAK has not played Tellico Plains
  15. I am a player for cak so I'm probably a bit biased as to be expected. I, however, had an excellent view/angle of brandon tarrs' first yellow card foul. Brandon may have gone in a bit to hard, but he went for the ball. Webb's sweeper was started in motion of kicking right as Brandon jumped so honestly I'm not sure of what Brandon could've done except follow through on his jump. The Webb player kicked Brandon, and Brandon was already in the air with full force so it looked worse than it was. It was indeed a foul, but not yellow card caliber. Furthermore, I feel that this lack of respect for Brandon was in complete error. Brandon plays hard and physical, so he's gonna get some fouls. I've always heard its better to be over aggressive than under aggressive. Best wishes to Webb's sweeper he played through it, but hope his cuts and bruises heel quickly. Webb's a great team it was a fun match.
