  1. Why did Dyersburg get a technical? Does anybody know?
  2. Heard that Dyersburg had a technical foul called against them and it was an eight point turn-around. Does anyone know anything about this?
  3. Hey, LadyK you should know. Does the game start at 6 or 6:30.
  4. I think you're probably right.
  5. Mitchell played last night and did a good job. The Choctaws looked better than they have in a while. Mitchell had 14 points.
  6. Ripley won 67 to 64 Good Game
  7. For once I agree with you MG, Antonio needs to either get on the train or get off. Basketball is not a one man show...it takes five. That's why they call it a TEAM. Didn't Dyersburg have a player do the same Saturday night? Didn't Jeremy Taylor quit?
  8. MG, you're getting personal. So you call them panties? My colors ARE black and gold.
  9. MG, most of the people on this tread are Halls people. Many times over the last couple of years I have seen some of your posts. You can bash with the best of them. People who live in Glass Houses should not throw stones. And the reason you can count the number of players scoring 30 plus points against Dyersburg on one hand, is because five is probably as high you can count. What Brown said in the paper was not good for West Tennessee Basketball period. The Northwest Officials are just as good as the Jackson Association. Dyersburg does have a good athletic program, so good that such a statement should not have been made.
  10. If any other Coach in West Tennessee made a statement like Dyersburg's Coach made they would have the book thrown at them. But when your principal is on the TSSAA board, they'll probably get another AF Bridges sportsmanship award. Let Jimmy Whitby or Butch Hopkins say something like that and they would be fired. In case you missed the quote: "I thought the officiating was terrible," a heated Brown said. "I thought they protected Strayhorn all night long. I thought they called fouls when there were no fouls. But it wasn't the same on this end. That is the Northwest official. They are going to take care of their own. That is about as one-sided, lop-sided officiating job as I have seen in a long time. And I don't cry about officials ever. But when it's obvious I am going to say what it is. That was not a very ethical job done by those three officials tonight." The truth is Dyersburg just missed too many free throws.
  11. Yes, they're starting the right five. They also have two or three on the bench that could start. This team is improving game after game. They were down tonight 23 to 7 at end of the first quarter and held Westview to only 2 points in the second quarter and got to within 1 (29-28) in the 3rd. When tournament time comes around I wouldn't want to draw Dyer Co. in the first round.
  12. Round two will be just as close as round one. Dyersburg should win, but they will have to score more than the 54 points they scored against DC last time. The Trojans are 10 and 2 and in those 12 games their point production was the lowest against the Choctaws. This one should be as close as the girls.
  13. Dyer Co 27 Obion Co. 26. Good defensive game
  14. Price hit the jumper in regulation, but it was Hudson who hit the 3 in OT...what a game. Two well coached teams.
  15. Northside is the real deal. The Delk twins are something else. They should win their district and region.
  16. Hey MG, Taylor might have been the best on the floor Friday night. But not the best in the Gym. Didn't you see Brian Fisk? He was there and so was Montrelle.
  17. Gomab, I just looked over your rankings of the top players in the state. I noticed that well over 95% played AAU ball. Is that a criterion for making your list? I also noticed that you had several players, at least three from Raleigh-Egypt and only one from Bolivar? Didn't Bolivar beat them? Is the reason that Jeremy Taylor of Dyersburg and Antonio Mitchell of Dyer Co. aren't on list is because they didn't play AAU ball? Didn't Mitchell make your list last year? I am not a fan of AAU ball. I think that high school coaches use it as a recruiting tool. I know for a fact they do in West Tennessee.
  18. Shane Normandin...Dyersburg High School best kicker and punter in West Tennessee, maybe the state. He can do it all.
  19. McKenzie is a good football team with great fan support and good coaching. They have a good quarterback, a couple of good recievers and two good running backs. One thing I noticed last night was their lack of depth. Several players have to go both ways. This will hurt the Rebels on down the road.
  20. I would like to get some feed back on open enrollment in Memphis. I know that Gomab says "it's no big deal", but I disagree it is a big deal. I know that there is a lot of talent in Memphis. But let's say that White Station, Ridgeway or Hamilton need a 2guard or point guard or a power forward. Look what they have to choose from. Nothing is going to change from what they're doing now, except now it appears to be legal. Other parts of the state do not have open enrollment. It will make it even tougher for West Tennessee who has to go through Memphis in order to get to the state. What is the TSSAA's stance on this?
  21. So you don't think if those 2 players 6'6" and the 2G say transferred to Ridgeway or Btw that it would be a big deal? Do other schools outside of Memphis have the same opportunity?
  22. Gomab2, are you saying that we shouldn't be concerned with the open enrollment? Are you saying that there's so much talent in Memphis that it's not an issue? I have heard that already some players are switching schools. That will make your Hamilton's, Ridgeway's and Btw's that much stronger.
  23. I believe that this year will be the first year of open enrollment in Memphis. Maybe Memphis did just win Class AAA this year, but go back through the years. I'm telling you this is not going to be a good thing for the TSSAA and basketball in general.
  24. With Open Enrollment in Memphis. How can the rest of the state compete with the city of Memphis. I hate to use the "R" word, but you know it's going to happen.
  25. Is there a recruiting program to get more young officials? If not there should be. There are a lot young high players who might not go on to play college ball that would probably make good officials. I think the biggest problem I've seen with officials today is that they have never played the game.
