  1. I would've liked to see CAK play MHS this year...I think they would've played them close. They wouldn't have won, but it would've been a good game, so don't sell the Warriors short. Thanks for your congratulations. And, the players haven't "danced around in the endzone" since 2005. Congratulations to the Rebels & Green Devils: E. Tn. will be well represented in C'ville.
  2. Genius. We're dealing with geniuses here. (He does bare a striking resemblance to Buddy the Elf, though, doesn't he?) You're right about one thing, though: "To be the best, you have to beat the best." Won't happen this year. GO TORNADOES!
  3. Question: Does anybody know where the refs were from last night? There's a rare quote from Rankin in the papers this morning explaining why he took the starters out so early and left them out. I don't think I've ever heard him say anything like that before.
  4. Hey, apparently you haven't seen some of our band members; a couple of them are bigger than your linemen. They would've given your team a run for it's money! LOL! The state championship was played on Nov. 19th: CAK vs. Alcoa. Is it even worth driving down to Cookeville for? Debated, and decided it was worth a day off of work to see these seniors play one last time, so I'll be there. Tornadoes blow through C'ville again. This one won't even be close.
  5. About the onside kick: Teams have tried that on us since Maryville used it back in 2005 (I'm pretty sure that was the year) and it hasn't worked since. Even with our 2nd and 3rd strings, it didn't work. Too bad the 1st one didn't go 10 yards before they touched it.
  6. That was HILARIOUS! But, wasn't sure if they were saying "ship" or a word that sounds an awful lot like it.
  7. Congratulations to Greeneville for making it to the 'Ship again.
  8. It was good to see the future of Tornado Football tonight! The starters only played about 16 minutes, then the young 'uns got their chance. Here's what I saw before the winds died down: Betsy players looked whooped. They didn't even look like they were trying...until the F3s and F2s came in. We looked across the field and read their body posture....they were absolutely whooped. The 4th largest school in 3A couldn't hang with the 4th smallest school. Hope the Betsy fans were treated well, and hope you have a safe trip home.
  9. Since Greeneville is used to playing on that nice artificial turf, will playing on a muddy field pose a problem to them? Just wondering... Believe it or not, I'm pulling for the E. Tn. win.
  10. Maybe somebody's already talked about this (too lazy to go back and read all 17 pages), but, is that girl going to kick on Friday?
  11. Hate to disagree with you, but we actually are not playing up. Or, if we're playing up, there are 3 other teams who are playing up with us: South Greene, Oakhaven, & Bledsoe County. According to the stats that were used for the new classification, Alcoa is the 4th smallest school in 3A while Betsy is the 4th largest. http://www.tssaa.org/Classifications/2009Classes.htm
  12. My good friend, Clint Abbott, took the time to figure out what class Alcoa would be in if we had the same multiplier as the private schools, so I'm not going to figure it out because he's a really smart man and I believe him. Answer: 3A for the playoffs Abbott said it, so it's a PHACT.
  13. Nope, not worried a bit. We've had the limelight, or at least have shared it, for going on 7 years now. We all know it's not going to last. It's good to see another E. Tn. team that's not in the same county get some recognition. I was just trying to be the voice of reason, but now I see that's impossible with G'ville fans. I don't believe we have any players from Knoxville on the team. But, just curious: how many players from the county schools go to GHS? (Just curious, is all) For the record: I have some ties to G'ville, so I'm not a "hater". Just trying to stay neutral. Gvilledevils: You must have me confused with someone else...I didn't comment on Post 1 of your "treads".
  14. Last time I checked, there were no rules about sticking to one board. Come on over!
  15. I didn't address you. I didn't say your name in the post, only quoted part of your reply.
  16. Don't go there...TD is not from Betsy. Can we get back to the game? What is Elizabethton going to bring to the game? Are they better than last year? More/less experienced? Does Betsy travel well, having to come down the mountain? After seeing highlights from the G-P game, I'm wondering how they will play on a good field. Will it slow them down?
  17. Somehow I knew you were going to respond with what you did. I wasn't saying that you said it, but previous posters have said it; I was speaking to them. And, it's TORNADO.
  18. From somebody who is completely neutral: I read the articles that were mentioned, and I honestly don't see anything wrong with what the Gibbs coach said. He was disappointed that his kids couldn't finish when it sounds like they were able to run the ball against G'ville. And, you don't know what wasn't put in the article...the reporter could've asked him if his game plan would've changed if Rollins (whoever that is) had played, but he didn't say that it was asked. However, whoever this Carmichael is or thinks he is needs to be taken down a notch: “It’s amazing to have a good back like he is,†Carmichael said, “and then myself.†(from JC Press) I looked at Greeneville's schedule, and, to be perfectly honest, they haven't really played any really good teams yet. Yes, they beat some teams that had beaten them the previous year, but those teams weren't that great last year. Now, schedule a CAK or Oak Ridge and let's see what happens.
  19. "Gibbs caused us problems". Uh-oh. If Gibbs, who barely beat a 7-5 Scott County (1-4 in district play) gave Greeneville problems, I think I'd be real careful about putting it in writing that you think you're the best in the state, regardless of class. Greeneville is going to have their hands full this Friday...having to play after a long bus ride to Nashville plus not having home field advantage. I would think it's going to be a good game...down to the wire. That having been said: G'ville: represent E. Tn. well, and good luck to both teams.
  20. They did their little "dance" before the game; Alcoa was warming up and had their backs to them. They were taking care of business.
  21. Let me explain it to you: "In Division I, the higher seeded team shall be the host school. If the two schools are the same seed, in odd-numbered years the top team in each bracket shall be the host team. In even-numbered years the bottom team in each bracket shall be the host team." (TSSAA) Both Greeneville & Maplewood are #1. This is an even-number year (2010). Maplewood is the bottom team in the bracket. The game is played at Maplewood. Have a good trip.
  22. Now, that was funny. I don't care who you are. That was even funnier than the time TRob ran the ball, "leaping" (using the term lightly) over the defender for the td. Those are 2 plays I'd like to see again!
  23. 1. Hope #27 will be okay. 2. TD: you're statement is just absurd. Granted, I didn't have best seat in the house, but from where I was, it looked like a clean shot. #27 had been pushing around #16 after plays all night, yet no flags were thrown. So, "none of the officials saw it or, if they did, had the guts the pull their flag." Don't imply that the officials are intimidated by Alcoa. 3. Don't take anything from either side last night: It was a good high school football game, the best Alcoa fans have seen since Week 1. It's just too bad it was played Nov. 19th instead of Dec. 3rd. CAK has come an incredibly long way in such a short time. They will beat Alcoa at some point; they definitely gave us a scare last night. But, the Alcoa boys didn't get "flustered" (contrary to what was written in the KNS) and kept their cool. 4. Warriors011: Thank you for the kind words about our boys. Rankin has brought a lot of class back to the Alcoa program. You have nothing to hang your head about.
  24. Seriously? I was just stating what I saw: the home sides were full. Maybe not Maryville or CAK full, but they were full. The Alcoa faithful were there, as they are for every game: home or away. Back to the topic: The scores from the last few years when Loudon has met Alcoa: 2010 season: 42-3 (This was after they came out flat after beating Maryville for the 2nd time in 2 years.) Playoff: ???? 2009: season: 21-0 Playoff: 21-3 2008 season: 37-0 Playoff: 34-0 2007 season: 42-6 (Did not meet in playoffs) Alcoa will win this one early; the starters get more rest to get ready for the CAK rematch...for the state championship.
