  1. OMG, please don't make Brad's head bigger than it already is! He's know's I'm kidding!
  2. You can't really name a best player in the state, I think you have to do it by possiton. You can have the best forward in the state and put him in on defense and he's terrible, but it will be interesting to see people's thoughts.
  3. Some publicity about the red card in the Chattanooga Times and some explanation. See the link below. http://www.tfponline.com/news/2008/mar/28/seeing-red/
  4. Well said! This is a personal opinion, but I think Highland Rim Referee Association has the best Referees in the State. They ref mainly in middle tn, but I am bias.
  5. Ryan Zeeck and Mustafa, not sure about the last name.
  6. I was reading the TSSAA Rules and I couldn't believe my eyes, well yes I could. For unsporting behavior football gets a one game suspension and soccer, actually all other sports get a two game suspension. How is that! How is that fair? I don't have any influence over the TSSAA, but all of the other coaches in all the other sports need to stand up tthe TSSAA and have them change he penalt for football or have the same penalty. Football should not be given less of a penalty, but I bet that doesn't surprise anyone who doesn't play football how they are treated with higher regards. Here you go: B. On the ejection of a student athlete, the school will be required to submit a report on the action of the player and any disciplinary action taken by the school. The minimum penalty will be the suspension of the student athlete from participation in the next contest(s) at the level of competition for the specified number of contests played during a week in the particular sport (one game in football, two contests in all other sports). In addition, the student athlete is also suspended from participation in the same number of contest(s) at any other level of competition in the same sport.
  7. G is much older and has been doing it a lot longer. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  8. There were going to be semi final games too, so doing the point system really isn't a fair observation of who was going to win the tournament or not.
  9. The good thing is they have two and half weeks before thier next game, but it is pretty much, roll, sand and seed.
  10. You hypothetical doesn't add up for soccer. I think a red card for unsporting behavior should qualify for a two game suspension. Here's a great example and why it doesn't make sense. In basketball, in the final seconds a player is on a fast break and the game is tied, the opponent comes and fouls the player on the layup intentionally, so they don't get an easy lay up and go ahead. Makes that player shoot two free throws. This player is not ejected from the game for doing that. In soccer, if a defender does that and he is the last defender, it's a straight red. A two game suspension is unfair. Not only does his team have to play a man down, now TSSAA has suspended him for two games. The Laws of the Game were made specifically for soccer and TSSAA adding onto the laws or taking away from the laws has no idea what they are doing. Two soft yellows, give me a break, what was the intention behind that. Just leave the laws alone and let them play soccer, this way referees, players, coaches and fans can all live by the same rules, it's confusing enough without changing little things here and there.
  11. First off a handball in the box doesn't have to be a card at all. It would be a yellow card if you intentionally threw your hand up in the air to block the ball and only a red card if you were the last defender and it was a scoring opportunity. My fellow referees can clarify this for me. For instance last year against BGA, a ball bounced up and hit one of players hands while in the box, a foul was called, no yellow and a PK was awarded.
  12. Let's be honest, the Independence Tournament was not a reflection on how good teams were or weren't. It would have been great if not for the weather, but when passes or shots go two feet after you do either, then there is no way you can measure one game against another. The young men couldn't go four steps without falling in the mud pit. It was as bad as Regionals in Oklahoma City this past June. Everyone needs to take those games for what they were worth, which wasn't much. Kudo's does go to the Independence Coaches and Volunteers to allow play to continue and get some touches on the ball for whatever that was worth, but they worked very hard to try and get games in that mess.
  13. Cookeville has to travel just as far, not sure that is logic, but not to schedule because you think you are going to killed seems to send a message to kids we are not going to play them because you are not good enough seems illogical to me. Coaches create thier own schedule, why would a coach schedule all the away games to Murfreesboro, schedule half in Murfreesboro, other half at White County. I mean it saves us traveling too, but I think it sends the wrong message to the young men on your team. Just in my personal opinion, in order to get better, you have to play the best teams. See what they do right and learn from it. I know bigger schools/cities/counties get a better core of athletes to come out for a team, I just don't think if I were a coach I would not play because of travel and not wanting to loose. They need to re-do the district. Why LaVernge and Smyrna wouldn't be in our district is beyond me, even Wilson Central.
  14. My question is why don't they play all of the teams in the district, Blackman, Riverdale, and Siegel. Very confusing.
  15. Blackman wasn't suppose to play Independence. They were supposed to play Ravenwood. They play 1130 tomorrow. I believe there is an updated schedule on the Independence High School website.
  16. I was surprised by last years record as well. I definitely thought they would have done better. I think Riverdale will compete for the district title, the talent is there. I am quite sure that is why you are ranked the way you are ranked. Remember, it's just a ranking, nothing really matters till district tourament anyway. Win all your games up to that point and loose the first game in district, you're out.
  17. They won 1-0. Could have been 3 or 4 - 0. It was a scrimmage. Coach Vice was substituting a lot to get a feel for players and see where they are going to fit.
  18. You maybe torn, but WKY did the wrong thing here. They did it, while increasing their football program to a different level. That is the bottom line. They should have cut across the board, not one program. Kids are involved in this. A school should not be able to start a program and then cut that program because of monies. Don't start it if you can't sustain it. When kids are involved, there is no excuse! I am really angry about this, maybe because this is the second school do to this in the last 4-5 years. It's not right. WKY should be forced by the NCAA to allow the kids currently on the team with a scholarship to pay for thier tuition, books etc... to what ever soccer college prgram will have them and pay it until they either quit or graduate.
  19. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> Although Blackman lost 8-10 starting seniors, I believe they will still compete. It's really too close to call between Riverdale, Blackman and Cookeville, but Cookeville lost alot of seniors as well. I am somewhat BIAS in my opinon, but it's just an opinion, but I think it will shape out to be Blackman, Riverdale, Cookeville as the top three teams in that order.
  20. Paul Gilbert, former goalie from Blackman, led Liberty to thier first NCAA Birth, he was also Freshman of the year for the Big South Conference and also got thier First Big South Conference Championship. Paul had a great year.
  21. James Holt TNFC Brennan Scott TNFC David Habba MFC Aaron Shoenfeld (sp) Crush Tom Webster Crush Kat (not sure about last name) Crush Matt Reed TNFC Two boys out of Texas Two boys from Georgia (Concord Fire I believe) South Carolina, (Charlotte FC I believe) Sorry if I left anyone out.
  22. He is just trying to get you all worked up. You guys just need to ignore him. Obviously he hasn't a clue of what he is talking about. Even the players on the other team know the truth. Maybe one of his children is on one of the other teams and he has rose colored glasses. And since he hasn't responed to any of your well thought and very informative post, it's obvious to me he now knows who the best teams in Tennessee are.
  23. He is not playing with ETSU. I believe Grades and committment, not for sure about the why. He definitely is not playing anymore.
  24. I don't think Zander is playing for ETSU. We were just there yesterday on Matt's official visit and I didn't see him listed.
  25. One thing that helps is no football program, and the student body nearly a year ago almost unamiously voted not to bring the football program back.
