  1. Unfortunately that wasn't the plan. I was sitting at the Bleachers listening to the officers plan. The officer in charge said, "We will all just spread out through the sidelines and said this will show everyone that nothing is going to happen tonight." As soon as that meeting was over, they dispersed down the entire sidelines. I just didn't realize that soccer in Cookeville was that dangerous, even playing against a district rival. I guess I was wrong. There was the same amount last year as well and we were the only teams then. By the way, None of the officers were over at the other fields where Lacrosee was about to begin, at least from what I could see. This whole thing has been blown completely out of proportion, because of a couple of athletes last year, really one athlete from Blackman, a few student fans and a few adult fans. Even that incident didn't require a police officer. If the student fans wouldn't taunt individual players, and it's not just our goalie, a lot of things wouldn't happen. It shouldn't matter if it's a stadium or just a soccer field with no fence. Fans should be fans and cheer for thier teams. Give another team a hard time, yes, to some extent, but don't make it personal. This kind of security is not necessary at other fields in the state, Warren County, Riverdale, when they don't play on the football field, Lebanon, etc.... It's certainly not required when Cookeville team comes and visits us or any of the other teams in the district. That's why I ask the question. These two teams have become a rival and I love it!! It's good for the game as long as it's clean and not personal. Obviously they both have two great coaches, and they have two great teams. Neither of the teams last year played dirty or went after each other during the game. It was just hard nose, clean soccer in both games. One of the best games I have ever seen. It was the result of the fans on the side lines and if each school's adminstration would talke to the students and parents about what is right and what is wrong, then the game would be that more enjoyable.
  2. I just didn't think the whole department needed to be there, that's all. SRO is much different than 5 officers. But that wasn't my question, my questions was is the normal for all Cookeville games or just between Blackman and Cookeville.
  3. I think the game will be intense. However, I don't think you will see any yellow cards in this game. The players for Blackman that caused such unsportsmanship the past two years are gone, thank goodness. This is a district game so it should be more intense, but I think you will a hard, clean fought game when they do play. Blackman is a much better team this year than last, mainly related to the chemistry on the team. I will call the game a close one 2-1 Blackman. I do have a question. Does the sherriff's department come out to all of Cookeville's games or just the one between Blackman? It seems to me since the Sherriff's department only comes to the Cookeville games, that the problem is at Cookeville, because for the past three years when Cookeville comes to Blackman, there is no need for our sheriif's department to be there. UMMMM? I was just wondering do they show up for all the games? I think thier whole department were there last night, just wondering who is protecting the citizens there. I saw at least 4 officers in uniform and maybe a fifith.
  4. Hank Adams and Mark Shelton are two very good referees that I have had the pleasure of refereeing with.
  5. Congratulations!!! I heard the ref blew the goal for Hendersonville too and shouldn't have been allowed.
  6. Blackman 2 - Smyrna - 1. Goals scored by Adam Huber and Ben Gracia. Smyrna's goal was an own goal. My prediction almost came true. Should have been 4-5 to 1.
  7. TSSSA Rule. There is no way they could pass that rule. They can't say where a player can play or where they can't play. Someone will fight this in court and they would loose. Telling a kid he can't play because he is the seventh member of a select team sounds pretty crude. Especially if you live in a city/county where there is only one select team within 50 miles of another soccer team or club team. No way this rule will pass. That's great insight thanks for the info.
  8. Don't make the post personal, the question was about who you think will win the game, not about one person. You anwsered it in the previous post. Blackman 2 - Smyrna 0
  9. Holt is his last name and he is one of three keepers for the U17 ODP and one of two keepers for TNFC. He is very good and one of the top in the state. He is not going to the U17 National Team.
  10. Well I was going to say 3-4 months, but I thought to myself that's crazy. That's why I put 9. I just texted my son and he said 3-4 months. So thanks for not making me look so cazy. Some great shoes Adidas used to make were Super Nova II. Great shoe, lasted a long time, my son loved them, but I guess that's why Adidas doesn't make them anymore, because they did last a long time.
  11. My son used to have predators and that's all he would wear, but now wears the Adidas Tunit, which he loves. Our experience with the predators they usually don't last a whole season, 9 months maybe, then has to purchase another pair. We'll keep you updated on the Tunit, he's only had them 3 months.
  12. Blackman 1 - Overton 1 Blackman 6 - Tullahoma 1 Blackman 2 - LaVergn 0 Four 30 minute games below Blackman 1 - Smryna 0, Blackman 2 - CPA 0, Blackman 2 - Columbia 1, Blackman 0 - Antioch 0,
  13. Nope that was against Columbia
  14. We had many chances against Antioch and just couldn't put it in the back of the net. They only had two consecutive chances against us, and Paul Gilbert stuff both, great play by him. I don't think they are as good as they were last year, but I only saw them once last year.' It was legitmate PK against Smryna. I'll give you the dive against you guys, but boy it was a pretty dive. Only Tyler knows if it was a dive or not. Matt wanted to throw in his two cents and says wheather he made or missed it, the result was the same as last year. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Have your dad call me today.
  15. These are really not full scrimmages, they are 30 Minute games, back to back, with a break in between your first two games. Smyrna 0 - Blackman 1 Should have been two, but and listen to this folks, the referee called back a PK, because the ruling on the field was the goal keeper didn't have control of the ball. PK was taken, bounced off the keeper and the person taking the PK, put back into the net. I will give the referee some credit, he did go to his truck and check the rules and came back and appologized to the boys. I guess that's what scrimmages are all about, it's for the referees too, but I just couldn't believe it. CPA 0 - Blackman 2 Columbia Central 1 - Blackman 2 Antiock 0 - Blackman 0
  16. We'll Bradley, it's possible. They have the players, but we had the players last year as well, but chemistry wasn't there. We'll see.
  17. It's not vice, as with any other school, it's football. Most of the stuff is supposed to be pushed through by this afternoon. Hopefully it will still happen.
  18. I wouldn't include Blackman quite yet. Lot of talent, hopefully it will come together this year. Expectations are high.
  19. Very Funny. Who is this by the way? Just wanted to add the rest of the players on TNFC and the Knoxville Crush on that list. I didn't know where most of the boys went to school on the crush though. Matt is at full strength, but still having to wear his brace. Little out of shape, but that's what 8 weeks of no soccer will do to ya, thanks for asking.
  20. I will have to ask my son, I heard him mention it.
