  1. Spanked? RHS (yall) hung on by a td vs. LHS by recovering an onsides kick with a minute left in the game. At (yalls place) RHS. It was Wilson Central who talked about tearing down the goalposts after they beat (yall) RHS (at Wilson Central, which they didn't do) Riverdale (yall) will be lucky to finish .500 this next season with all the talent that they (yall) lose. The Smyrna/Lavergne game will be almost a pick-em. The team with the fewest injuries going in might take it. They will both certainly be much better than RHS (yall) OR Wilson Central. But keep supporting your (yalls) team - and yall come back now, ya hear!! **************************** correction:07yonug&thugin07 was the orig poster not rcpatiot orig. post was by thug dude
  2. Now that the Riverdale fans have stopped their internal bickering, does anybody know how certain the Dickson @ LHS scrimmage for 18May is and at what time? Also has anybody heard if the band's practice field is going to stay off limits due to the gas mains near it? After all, they have always been there (I think)
  3. Wasn't Ralph T. a DB at Hillwood and Uga.?
  4. pking!! I havent seen you post on the VU board in a while. wassup!! anyway, Munford and Brighton from Tipton Co. just north of Memphis are really good. Houston High near Memphis has about 300 in the band. Munford and Houston look and sound like SEC large state school bands. They were in a killer band competition at the Liberty Bowl last year vs. Arkadelphia (top Arkansas h.s. band) and Madison (I think) Jackson Mississippi huge band.

    TSSAA and Band

I liked that "rhapsody in blue" show Oakland's band did last fall. Very classy.
  6. 233 divided by 30 is 7.766 Glad to help. btw...I get the feeling LHS wins in week zero in a very close game, but the highlight of the night will be the LHS marching band's new show, the concept of which is yet to be announced.
  7. I'm glad to see other people are fanatics about sports, just like me...however, click on your screen name and see that - quote - Total Cumulative Posts 233 ( 30.5 posts per day Don't take my word on it. Go ahead and click. (but keep on supporting your school - NOTHING wrong with that, more people should do it...cough, cough, metro Nashville, cough,,)
  8. 230-plus posts in ten days? That's well over TWENTY posts a day on this forum. spearchucker needs to get a life (and stay out of threads about LHS)
  9. Earth to spear-head: - don't like the thread? This is America. You ARE free to stay out of it.
  10. Do you think mario hunter or greene will play college hoops? just asking.
  11. It was hard to judge Hicks basketball ability due to playing with some sort of cast it looked like on one wrist this last season...wasn't that his main sport for a long time? He should probably play some sport or another on the next level - it would be a shame if he didn't
  12. whatever happened with a j Jenkins? Is he going to play college f b?
  13. Is there one vacant coaching spot at LHS?? What's up with that?
  14. question off the topic for Mr. HS football... #1) do you know any 11 & under kids looking to get into aau basketball in the Lavernge or Smyrna (even Antioch) area? #2) what would it take to get the p.a. guy at LHS to stop saying "LAUNDRY ON THE FIELD!!" >just kidding LOL<
  15. Very true..last fall - football - Lavergne @ Glencliff, the home team had a couple of dozen fans on the home bleachers...the visitor side was nearly full. Glencliff band - about 20 kids. Lavergne band - over 100. Metro people (kids AND parents) need to snap out of their malaise about sports and other extracarricualar activies, get their butts out of the mall food courts and back into things that matter, i.e. - kids are only kids once - then its gone. Extra carriculars are a vital part of a complete education. GET BACK INVOLVED PEOPLE!!! (not just when the team is winning, either!!)
  16. I thought Bryant was more like 6-6 and 250? He would be a good TE / DE, no? (the TE from Blackman - Stevens (?) is also like 6-6 isn't he?)
  17. Why no talk about LHS bookend OT's - Bryant and Adams? They are quite large kids.
  18. It makes me feel better to see other former HHS people on here. It's a shame people don't know about how good they were in sports for a while. Won the state in baseball in 76 or 77. Went to the sub-state in basketball both years. Was very good in football in '77 (finshed behind Brentwood Acd. in AA in the area in football)...was a girls baketball power in the mid-70's due to Frierson, Crawford, Fletcher, etc...played in the March of Dimes in boys basketball... The fact that USN's best basketball players and BGA's best football players would have gone to HHS didn't matter. They kicked butt anyway. A real shame all that spirit is gone. oh well.
  19. The magnet school idea may be a good one...but where would the middle class kids from Bellevue go to school? And the kids up and down Charlotte Pike?
  20. The year HHS won 12 games in row, the crowds were really good...the line to buy a ticket to the game against Hillsboro stretched almost out to the street. The part about the zone being stretched out all different directions it true. As is re: private schools. There was a point in time in the 1970's that Hillwood dropped to AA instead of AAA because of dwindling numbers and the top scorers at USN, MBA, and BGA (boys basketball) were all guys zoned for Hillwood (who STILL made it up to #4 in the state in AA in the a.p. rankings - like '76 or '77 maybe) That was then. This is now. The school spirit lives in suburban areas (Williamson, Rutherford, Wilson, Sumner, etc)...30 years ago Hillwood/Bellevue WAS the suburbs. Now, Mt.Juliet, Lavergne, etc...THAT is the burbs. Those are the areas where extracarricular activies are still a status symbol for the kids. Hillwood's marching band had like 100 member around 1977. Some metro schools can now barely field a marching band of more than 20 or 25 kids. Things change. Nothing stays the same. It's kind of a bummer, but that is how it is and someday the Mt. Juliets, Hendersonvilles, Lavergnes, will be no longer the "suburbs" replaced as such by schools just now being built such as "Stewart's Creek" etc.
  21. Did he play college? Where? He was one of the best I ever saw back then. Seriously. The guy could play.
