  1. Yes, you're right, Copeland was amazing and he was a heck of a basketball player too! One of the best linebackers I saw play in those days was Scott Galyon of Seymour who started at UT. He was probably the hardest hitting LB I've ever seen!!
  2. No not an excuse, it's just "elementary Watson!"
  3. No, Einstein, they don't trade players, but the player's mindsets and motivation can be different from week to week!!
  4. I think that this game will depend on which Wartburg team shows up. If the team that beat Rockwood shows up, I'll take the dogs in this one. But if the same team that lost to Coalfield appears, then it's anybody's game.
  5. I can see it now: an angry mob with torches scouring the Sunbright community after dark looking for the arch enemy! It's funny; he must know he's a wanted man -he's been awfully quite so far! maybe he'll pull a Jimmy Hofa and dissapear for good!
  6. Yeah, not to mention their tobacco spitting and yodeling contests!
  7. Title town!! That sounds funnier every time I hear it! I only hope that the OS folks don't want any fast food up in "title town" because boy are thay gonna be disapointed!!!
  8. "Title Town!" Boy, that's classic! Oh, you mean the town with all those abandoned buildings and the school that's more isolated than Angola prison in Louisiana? I honestly believe that you're in a guarded room with padded walls and have acccess to the internet during your daily rec time. I hope and pray that you're not actually a Sunbright player because that would truly be a shame! I also hope I live to see the day when Sunbright will schedule some competition worthy of wearing a high school uniform. I,along with probably HUNDREDS of others on Coach T are so sick of you that it's not even funny. Please, please crawl back in that hole you came from and let sports fans everywhere see some peace!
  9. The "privit" that recruits? King's Academy? Please!!! I know back when they were Harrison Chilhowie(sp?) they used to "recruit" foreign kids that had never played football before! A football school? Since when? I also remember the eighties when IF Sunbright had enough players for a team they usually didn't win(with the exception of the '84 team!). I still wonder what world you live in!!
  10. What I meant from a lot of class was the fact that I saw Coalfield players extend their hand in sportmanship after a play several times. As far as "breaking ankles" and all of that, well, I wouldn't know.I would also have a very tough time believing Coach Henry would "cuss a kid out" I played in this intense rivalry once upon a time and I know how emotional it can get. After all, I got a 15 yard personal foul against Coalfield my jr. year for hitting a kid out of bounds! Scratching their eyes out? Sounds like something from "The Longest Yard!" Again, I was merely a spectator in all of this and I don't know everything. I only know what I witnessed.
  11. Well, sorry , but OlePolecat should be the LAST person on here talking about schedules!! Have you seen Sunbright's schedule lately? There's some good little league teams that could run the table with that schedule!! As far as another poster on here that said this game could get ugly quick, I totally disagree. Sure Rockwood is a good team, and if Wartburg plays the way they did against Coalfield they'll probaly lose. But if the dogs come out focused like they did against Harriman and Oneida, then it's anybody's ballgame.
  12. I agree here. Coalfield played their hearts out and did what they had to do to win, while Wartburg didn't play well and had too many mistakes. I couldn't believe the dropped passes! Also, Coalfield played with a LOT of class, while the dogs got frustrated and were jawing a lot(#16!) toward the end of the game. Sure, it was an emotional situation and I know first hand having played in 4 of these Wartburg-Coalfield games, but I think the dogs just weren't ready to play while Coalfield came in focused and won the game.
  13. I just can't say enough about Sunbright's lame and weak schedule. I saw in the MCN where Stepens was talking about King's Academy and how "they don't look too strong on paper" Well, OF COURSE they don't!! Otherwise Sunbright wouldn't schedule them. Sunbright might make me eat crow and win out, but I doubt it. They score all these points on these middle schools, but I'm afraid after this week, that stops and ABRUPTLY!
  14. Careful this week you guys. Don't have your starters in the fourth quarter or the Oakdale coach will be crying conspiracy theory! No seriously, good luck and take care of business this week. .....oh, and tell Flair I said hey!
  15. Good point you make here, pujo. I remember being over seas in my military days. I saw intense poverty retched living conditions and people scared for their lives in the middle east. People here DON'T know how good they have it here. So no one should make light of such subjects.
  16. Sure, sure you do. Is this when you all take a break from playing middle school teams? Guess you'll be warmed up by then.
  17. Right. I guess Sunbright will be ready for this game after playing SUCH a brutal schedule. All you've done is made everyone's "second favorite team" whoevere's playing Sunbright. Again there's some folks on your schedule that will bring you all back down to earth with a thud!!
  18. Classic!! At least they don't still play on that old field. Do you remember that cow pasture Kaz? I remember catching a pass against Sunbright many years ago and breaking into the clear. No kidding, I tripped in a hole on the field and fell!! Still don't know who they credited that tackle to.... But as for ole polecat-their dates with destiny(Oneida,OS,Wartburg) loom on the horizon!
  19. Thor's pop, did Hutchison play against Oakdale? I didn't see his name in the paper, and normally he has about 40 tackles, so I was just curious.
  20. Well, I suppose I agree here that having starters in the game that late with a big lead was unneccesary. But I also think that Oakdale's coach is blowing it a little out of proportion. He shouldn't apologize for kicking an onside kick when he's down by a bunch of points. I mean, what did he have to lose? The Oakdale coach is young and needs to realize that football is football. Again, I DON'T agree with having starters in that late, but sometimes stuff happens and yes, Wartburg has been on the other side of that coin too many times. And as far as that not happening against OS; well you're probably right, but please realize that this is a VERY good Wartburg team and from what I saw from OS the other night, they're not the team they were last year, so.... BTW Wartburg folks, didn't HUtchison play against Oakdale? Was he limited?
  21. Priceless post!! But hey, I'm sure that 1000 other people feel the same way! I hope that Oneida, OS, and Wartburg all lay waste to Sunbright and shut this joker up once and for all!!
  22. Yeah, tigger, sounds like you all have another juggernaut this week! Like everybody else on here says, yoy all have the softest schedule around-can't wait for Oneida, OS, and Wartburg to get ahold of you all!!!
  23. I think you're on the money with these predictions,td. The Coalfield-OS game could turn out to be a dandy! Also, how about them dogs? As a former Wartburg player, it does my heart good!
  24. Well, one thing that might be noted here is that so far Wartburg has done pretty well in the turnover department, and as a lot of folks know this could be a deciding factor in a close game. Hopefully the dogs won't come down with fumblitis this week.
