  1. Yeah that's another good point... Anyone know some of the scores from the Lebanon Tourney? I know Blackman was scheduled to play Brentwood Friday but I am outta town and can't make any of the games this weekend.
  2. Don't think the boys played on Tuesday... good to hear the girls won though... they look a lot better. I know the boys play this weekend in the Blue Devil Classic.
  3. I was originally very worried after Monday's win over Smyrna especially after hearing about how Riverdale walked through them. But after thinking about it I realized we (Blackman) put a decent amount of points and the defense was good but Smyrna just hit their shots. So in my mind the jury is still out on the outlook for this year. But rest assured I'll be there every game yelling and cheering... just ask Smyrna I think they appreciated our student section /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  4. Well I'm not really in the swing with basketball yet...It kinda snuck up on me. I hope that tomorrow night will show what my boys from Blackman have this year. Honestly I don't think it will be a very good year, I just can't find where the offense is going to come from this year, losing A.C and tall Paul really hurts our offense. Hopefully some people step up and Coach Turnham is a great coach so who knows? We'll find out Monday at Smyrna. As for the region as a whole... Siegel dominates, just too much talent. Glad we beat them in football so we can at least be annoying at the basketball games. Should be an interesting year for the rest of the district. Go Blaze!
  5. UGH! This is what I have been waiting for all season! It finally all came together in a very good win! Great job on offense running all over Siegel and we didn't let a turnover get to us, just kept pushing and finished the game out! Now we still stand a chance, but we have to win the next two weeks...and need a lot of help. Go Blaze! Expect a good showing on Senior night!!! '09
  6. Antioch Oakland Siegel Riverdale Cookeville Blackman (even though we got it handed to us last week) Brentwood Academy D-B Coffee Co. MBA
  7. I can't believe I am saying this (I've been trying to deny it for some time) but I think I am going to go with Siegel in this one. Now that being said I want to make it clear that I still severely dislike (hate) Sea-gull with a passion, but I respect them and as a M'boro school I wish them the best... until they run up against Blackman that is...
  8. Well we wouldn't want to use any more points than we have to now would we??? We have to save some of our offense for Riverdale, why waste it on LaVergne or LC??? Obviously this is all an elaborate scheme to lull Riverdale to sleep... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Come on can't you see it??? /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  10. It can be done with a balanced attack. Blackman must be able to sustain some form of a passing game. It doesn't have to be much, just enough to keep R'dale from loading the box with 8 men. If BHS forces R'dale to respect a pass threat then it will open up the run game.... Now I am of course going to be biased and pick Blackman, however either way this game goes I don't see a blowout. Single digit victory or 10 point win at the most, the defenses are just to good on both sides for me to believe that someone will run away with this game. Can we also stop the bickering... it makes us at Blackman look a little shady...whatever happened to Blackman Pride??? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  11. Bowers definitely does not get enough respect. Look at the last two games, he is Blackman's leading rusher by a wide margin and he gets significantly fewer carries, not to mention he is a solid linebacker. If you aren't worried about him and his 6.5 ypc, then I sure would like to know what it takes to concern you, cause he will run all over people. I think he is Blackman's big play threat more so than Smith and Collier (with all due respect), and let's face it he can flat out PLAY, the only problem is that he tends to see fewer carries since he is often on the field for essentially every defensive down. With Bowers and Patton roaming aroud at L-backer I think R'dale will have a challenge running the ball. Knowing Bowers since we were 4 I have all the respect in the world for the kid and I know he will get after it every chance he gets on Friday night.
  12. Well, well, well its finally here... my last year to see if we can finally beat Riverdale. I know Blackman will be fired up and I think they will hold onto the ball on Friday (I hope to the turnover gods we do). Look for a big game from Bowers and now its our turn... Blackman 17 Riverdale 10 Go Blaze! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  13. Oakland Blackman Lebanon Riverdale Brentwood- uh oh... toss up! WC Siegel Hillwood Maryville Hendersonville
  14. Oh, I completely agree that game should not have been close perhaps LV is better, but part of it has to be attributed to Blackman playing below their potential. However I trust that it will be fixed and look for a good showing Friday, although it once again may be low scoring.
  15. Of course being from Blackman I am going to say that but if the past 3 years are any indication of this year who knows... They could put up 42 or be shutout it all depends on which team shows up.
  16. Well if you saw the game then you know that Blackman fumbled six times (I think 4 times they were snaps) and anytime you kill six drives with poor ball control and add to it a couple of drives which were stopped by penalties then it is fairly easy to only score 5 points. Look at the yardage, BHS put up decent numbers but just couldn't finish drives. Should be much better this week and with a stout defense... BHS 21 LCHS 7
  17. I didn't think LaVergne was classless at all. Saw nothing to even hint at it. As for the game after the first drive I was really pleased. Blackman practically walked down the field before being stopped at the 10 or so. Then the defense was really strong and stopped LV and then a botched punt turned into a safety and there's your 5 points. It looked like Blackman was going to run away with it, but the turnovers killed them again. This game shouldn't have been close, but fumbling at least 4-5 times and an interception let LV believe that they could play with Blackman. The offense has to be better, and frankly I would like to see Blackman pick one QB and stick with him. Every time Crocker was in LaVergne would play fairly straight up on D, but when Collier came in it was obvious that 9 out of 10 times they were running the ball and Lavergne started blitzing the daylights out of 'em every play. No offense to either of these two guys because both are capable I am just not a fan of the two QB system. As for the defense it was very solid. There were a few breakdowns here and there in coverage, but it was a much better job of tackling than in years past and this year our D may just be the saving grace for this team. Got to get better next week, especially taking care of the ball.
  18. The key for Blackman is avoiding turnovers, if BHS can win the turnover battle then I don't think this one is real close. But you never know after all it is the first game. Only one more day!!!
  19. Hopefully a good start for Blackman, this game is really key for playoff hopes as the next region game is R'dale and you just can't start the season 0-2 in region. But Blackman pulls away and wins 28-10 with a good showing from Crocker and Bowers. Go Blaze!
  20. Our entire region is somewhat quiet compared to years past maybe it will pick up after the first week. Dogs by 21.
  21. As much as I'd love to see Oakland win, just out of spite for R'dale (when you win like you do people aren't going to like it especially when they go to other schools) I have to take R'dale in this one. On a side note, for the big talkers we are in this region it sure has been fairly quite about the games this week. I know personally I don't say anything about Blackman cause when you here that the team is going to be great three years in a row and all three years you have a losing season you tend to take things with a grain of salt. On the other hand I do expect this year to be a very good year, but it all starts with one game, until then nothing is really known. Continue to wish Coach Wells a speedy recovery look forward to seeing you back on the sidelines in week 3!
  22. Well I certainly had enough trouble with that...
  23. Man you're not kidding!!! That WC game last year was not a representation of the defense. Thanks to a few early turnovers WC was up like 21-0 by the halfway mark in the first quarter. Once the defeating ourselves stopped the defense did very well. I believe Blackman can do it this year. Avoiding the turnovers are the crucial piece of the puzzle that Blackman has always struggled with. If there is one thing worse than getting beat it is definitely beating yourself... Which happened a little too often last year. Look forward to this year and seeing what Blackman can produce should be exciting.
  24. Yea Justin is getting looked at from a number of schools, I have known him for several years and talked to him about recruiting not too long ago, he mentioned a few ACC and SEC schools that he recieved info from although I do not know the level of interest. Also I saw him being visited by a Navy football recruiter at the end of school. He has a decent shot at the college level, he also has a real chance to shine this year.
