Strickland is a joke and is as arrogant as they come. He will try his best to coach vicariously through Shadowens.
  2. It's amazing that ohs is still being downplayed so much by franklin fans on here. i think some franklin fans really believe that the bhs-fhs game two weeks ago was the state championship game. i have watched region four teams all year and i am here to tell you franklin fans that the patriots are a championship caliber team with a knack for power football. you guys can say what you want, but oakland's offense is gonna test just how good that defense of yours is. i guarantee that no one you've played can match oakland's physicality. there's just something really demoralizing about having the ball crammed down your throat for 3, 4, 5 yards a pop, knowing you can't stop it. something inside you just gives in, and you concede victory to the better, more PHYSICAL team. That's why I'm going with the pats. they've been the underdog all year, and time and time again they've proved doubters wrong. OHS: 21 FHS: 7 strike up the band and go home.
  3. bottom line, i agree with 82cat when he says that the last game between these two (though it was a fantastic, hard fought game) means absolutely nothing. The only two things that will carry over and have any impact on this game at all are: 1. Smyrna will be hungry to avenge the loss 2. Oakland knows they are capable of beating Smyrna Beyond that, what happened in the first game means nothing. Forget the "almosts" and the "we spotted you's" and get ready for yet another classic. Both defenses are scary and play to different strengths. Smyrna may have the fastest, most athletic defense in the state, and Oakland just has playmakers on defense (especially along that defensive line). Both offenses appear to be peaking at the right time, especially in the passing game. Bryson and Hicks are both capable of changing the momentum of a game everytime they touch the ball, and Oakland's stable of Valentine, Nelson, Bass, Frazier, and Mayberry have a way of just whittling defenses down to nothing as the game goes on. IMO, The run game for both teams will be the most important factor for both teams, because it's what they do best. As good as both defenses are (definitely the best two in the state), both teams running games are capable of dismantling the opposing defenses when they are clicking. Throughout the season, Oakland has been capable of winning the close ones for one reason - DEPTH. I think that same reason puts them in the semi-finals. PREDICTION: OHS - 17, SHS - 7 By the way, both head coaches should be doted on for what they have accomplished. Coach Williams took over a prestigious program, battled early setbacks, and has his team in place to win it all. Not everyone who takes over a championship program is able to produce like he has (especially in region 4-5A - you know who I'm talking about). Coach McDaniel has taken a team that most opponents likely were counting as a W before the season started and has given them a new identity, and now everyone is aware that Oakland is once again going to be a force to be reckoned with. These two coaches are the top two up-and-coming young guys in the state, and I'm positive that they will both leave tremendous marks on Tennessee high school football. Congrats to them both and their teams.
  4. Uh...I'm just crunching the numbers here but...in order for this game to be any closer than the cookeville/siegel game (28-27), it would technically have to end in a tie. Since that can't happen, I give it to the Patriots by a score of 28-3! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  5. it isn't a question of being guilty...the kid has tarnished the program and brought negative publicity on his teammates and coaches. he needs to sit, plain and simple. it's the same idea as teachers who are implicated in sexual offenses with minors. they are first and foremost (and rightly so) SUSPENDED in order to stop any contact that may/may not be happening and to help the school save face. it's the right move to sit the kid (although he's not really a kid anymore). he needs to sit for causing/contributing to circumstances that have proven detrimental to his team and coaches, regardless if he's truly guilty or not. an eighteen year old doesn't always think about other people, but that's one thing that football tends to remedy...you at least have a team full of guys that you go to war with, and therefore you should protect them at all costs, which means keeping your name clean because your name ultimately is linked with that of your teammates and coaches.
  6. is this guy's name really chodaboy? its bad i know what movie that's from!
  7. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> SEVEN COLLEGE PROSPECTS??? What FC team have you been watching? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  8. After watching Smyrna's defense vs. Oakland, I gotta agree with you. Wouldn't be surprised if the 'Dale got skunked in this one...Smyrna's D is scary fast.
  9. After watching Oakland physically dismantle BA in their scrimmage, I think this year will mark the rebirth of this heated rivalry...who will come out on top????
  10. still though...he wore cardinal and gold during the day and tucked in at night underneath blue and orange...can't help seeing the irony in that one...
  11. the dorms at riverdale seem to be mobile, but i have heard that at one point a couple years ago they ran right through the blackman cafeteria... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  12. I have lots of experience with the warrior program (and some hardware to go along with it), so i'll throw my two cents worth in here...first off LOD, losing forrest to blackman is NOT a bad thing for the warriors...trust me...second thing, everybody needs to understand once and for all that programs rise and fall due to lack of coaching, athleticism, discipline, leadership, funding, etc...or combinations of all these...no program can stand on top for all eternity...i've always known this (even as a player amidst those diehard warrior fans who swore the 'dale should be bumped to the S.E.C.)...i was fortunate enough to be there in the middle of the riverdale dynasty, and it was maintained for one reason and one reason only...not solely because of coaching or athleticism or recruiting or whatever...we were who we were because WE DID NOT EXPECT OR SETTLE FOR FAILURE and simply put, WE DID NOT KNOW HOW TO LOSE...the tradition that came along with putting on the cardinal and gold meant that your absolute best effort was a prerequisite for being on the team...100+ players on a team all giving their utmost effort can end in nothing less than success...how else do you explain rankin only playing the same 25-30 kids every game and yet still keeping more players than jerseys...and last thing, when i was there, we had ONE d-1 kid on our team, and we still made it to the BCB...made it all three years i was on varsity without any real d-1 talent...we succeeded because we trusted each other and held each other accountable...if someone was booted off the team, it was always by his teammates and NEVER by the coaching staff...thats the type of team mentality we had...if riverdale has lost that altogether then they are simply not the same riverdale of '91 til rankin left...he began that mentality and cultivated it every year, regardless of talent...we beat better teams because we expected to win every game, every series, every down...number of d1 prospects has no bearing on your teams outcome...if they have that d1 mentality, then the sky is the limit...if they've lost that, then no amount of buckling your chinstraps on the sidelines or running to and from the line of scrimmage is gonna do anything...look at riverdale's d1 signees from last year...more on that team than all my years combined, yet not nearly the success...riverdale needs to revive the tradition and enthusiasm and mentality that seems to have exited with rankin before they can ever expect to achieve that top-tier status again...
  13. i usually just sit back and read the threads more than i post on them, but i have to say that this thread is in danger of going in the tank...i love God and Jesus Christ too and i think its great that a coach was able to lead a young man to Christ...that is truly awesome...but this aint the forum for spiritual bickering, which is where this one is headed...just get back to the foozeball please...there's a reason why this website is called COACHt and not PRIESTt or PASTORt...let's just stick to the old pigskin. oh and olandpats...you make the statement you'll support mac when he wins more than a scrimmage against a 3a team...well i'll support you when you can prove to me that you've successfully attained at least a third grade level understanding of grammar...i understand short handing some longer words in posts, but come on...your posts consistently look like junior high text messages...fights happen, and face it as a fan of the previous oakland staff you are looking for any reason to bring negativity on the new staff...have been doing it for months now that i remember some of your previous posts...team fights are unavoidable if the kids are itching for them...not the coaches fault...and it most certainly did not take ten minutes to break that one up...at least the kids fought for one another...first sign of a pulse from those kids in several seasons...yea, you can thank the NEW staff for that...
  14. Midnight in Montgomery...Hank's Always Singin'...THE-E-ERE... WOW...That's absolutely awesome that you guys had Hank Jr. deliver the game ball. When I was at Riverdale, we once had the Rutherford County Sheriff deliver our game ball...not quite on the same level as Hank Jr. though
  15. dear mo$$$ and antwan, after reading your inquiries into the fan participation habits of franklin county fans, i am obliged to bring respond. you see, i am neither here nor there when it comes to fc or sc...i am just against idiots. fc fans have not replied to your insults for two reasons: REASON NUMBER ONE: they probably could care less about what you have to say about their football team (after all, you guys are only 2a...) and REASON NUMBER TWO: folks in winchester have had this nifty invention called the INTERWEB for much longer than you guys have apparently. it seems that the entire town of carthage has visited this site and asked the all-important question "where are all the fc fans?" don't worry about them...they're out there. they're just not the type to carry on their arguments over a website. oh, and mo$$$, i would choose my words carefully, because there have been several recorded cases of "chump" teams getting the best of the other team. very classy, mo$$$y poo, very classy. i hope ya'll get freaking spanked like red headed step children who stole something on the Sabbath. you all deserve it. hugs and kisses, voodoo child
