I hate to hear this. Mccoin was a great coach, and like you said, just didn't have the horses this year to do anything. Everyone around the area knew that, I can't believe LA fans ran him off. Great guy, LA's loss. But you are exactly right about fans jumipng on coaches when something goes wrong. When SC loses thats all you hear. Unless its to Knox Catholic, or Fulton. Two years ago when we lost to Trousdale at their place, it was pathetic. Parents standing at the fence chewing out coaches, and even players. Maynord puts a stop to it though, he doesn't listen to anything. There was a parent saying stuff after the Westmoreland game, and Maynord took care of it pretty quick.

Westmoreland will win I believe. I don't know anything about Marion, but I know Westmoreland is pretty good. If they do win the first round, they most likely will not beat Tyner.

SC wins convincingly. Our offense has played well since the Westmoreland game. I know both teams we've played since then have only won 1 game, but still. Our passing game looks to be picking up, hopefully it will be a dry night. Good luck Owls. Smith County - 28 Bledsoe County - 0

Upperman players will hold alot of the spots. Erica Gibbs is the only Smith County player. Possibly the big girl.

I agree Dekalb should be ranked higher than 5th. Cannon may not finish last but I think at the highest they will finish 5th.

They'll be a tough team. I give them the sleeper team role of the district. If they don't suprise anyone in the regular season, they could possibly upset someone in the tournament.

You are right about alot of what you have said here. I'm at the gym alot, and I see the girls practice some. The big girl perhaps maybe over-hyped, but she is still really tough. You won't be able to play inside, but as for the press, I'm not sure what they'll do. We prolly aren't as quick as Upperman, but we are conditioned well. Erica Gibbs is probably the teams leader, she has improved alot over the summer from what I've heard. The downfall is though, I just don't think the ball handling is there to beat Upperman.

Your right. She hasn't done anything in awhile I'm pretty sure. I think because of that since we are so close to the beginning of the season, that could hurt her some. As far as conditioning goes. I think December the first will be a rough game for her possibly. Upperman will beat and bang, and with her being a freshman, it will be interesting to see how she reacts. She has alot of pressure on her shoulders for a freshman.

I don't belive 7AA will get swept this year. Smith plays 4 region games so we'll get a look at a couple of the other district teams. I believe its Station Camp, White House twice, and DCA. That other district is tough, but I don't believe they sweep the region again.

They don't have any dominate players. But a pretty good core group.

The press is what will give SC problems. If their guards handle the ball better than the past, they will be a very tough team, especially with the big girl in there. I believe their guard play has improved significantly. You are right, really no problem replacing Tara, but you hate to lose her and Monica. Shannon is probably further along than Tara was at that age, and seems to play with a little more discipline. SC has a couple of key players. Erica Gibbs had a great camp from what I have heard. So it really isn't just a one or two headed monster, although you take the big girl out, they are a different ball team. But who wouldn't be.

The Tigers will be a pretty tough team this year. Its hard to say who will do what. I think Smith, Dekalb, and Livingston are all capable of challenging Upperman for number one. I've heard that the format for the region tourney is going to be that the #1 and 2 from each district will host the #3 and 4 seed, and after that all games will be at Upperman. Can anyone clarify? I know the district tourney is at Upperman.

Who's the favorite of this district? Probably wide open. I dunno much about it. G-ville will probably be pretty good.

Smith does have some pretty good speed. Depth as well as lack of inside presence will plague them. Nixon, Sanders had pretty good camps as did the Wakefield kid. He's just a junior. Rievely is real quick and a sparatic shooter. They could do well. Just have to play together. I would really like to see this team do well after last year's disappointing season. First game just a few weeks away. Can't wait for bball season. However I think Upperman can and will be beaten. They are good, but its pretty hard to go undefeated in the district, I don't think they are that dominate, but I could be wrong.
