  1. Looks like WB may be for real in district 4AAA! Any surprise to others out there?
  2. That second game would be South Doyle followed by Lenoir City and Seymour, all at home. With the exception of losing Cermak and Tran at linebacker, this team is pretty much intact. Of course those are big shoes to fill! However, the young Mountaineers from 2009 will grow up in the off-season and could finish a respectable 6-4 or 7-3 with a little luck to go along with all the hard work.
  3. Does anybody know how to find the schedule for the Ooltewah tournament for April 16 & 17?
  4. Yeah, I was looking at the results/scores from Hendersonville and they did put up some good numbers offensively.
  5. You gotta love the beautiful spring weather we have once spring sports get started!
  6. I am sure that a breakdown has been posted recently, but how good is this team and how good can they be at season's end?
  7. Yeah, pretty ugly weather compared to what we have had recently.......not what one would hope for the start of a much anticipated season. Hopefully it will turn by the beginning of next week
  8. Wow....not much conversation going on for a Friday just before the season starts. Is everybody just too nervous or what???????
  9. Only saw a little bit of WB vs Pigeon Forge, but they did put up some offense early in that one. I also think Heritage had about four freshmen in the field most of the day and a freshman pitcher as well. However, no excuse if they are gonna be playing wehn it counts too! Looks like they will take some lumps this spring
  10. OK Unicoi69, I got it now, you must have been with Central. Your girls did have a big fifth inning....looked to be pretty solid
  11. Didn't see Unicoi there, thought they were in school on Saturday. Guess my question is "Is Gibbs that good or is Heritage that bad?"
  12. Just heard Gibbs put up 20 runs on Heritage at a play day on Saturday! Was anybody there?
  13. Saw her in action on Saturday and was impressed with her game behind the plate . . . . two other catchers that I thought played well were the girl from Jefferson County and the one from Heritage.
  14. I am pretty sure that the "play day" scheduled in blount county for this weekend is still on - have quite a few teams competing
  15. I think Heritage High School has a few freshmen that could see lots of playing time this season . . . .. . . ..and Alcoa may have a frosh or two that crack the lineup as well. Still, they are freshmen and will play like juniors at times and then like 8th graders at times.
  16. Maryville appears to have a lot coming back from last year's state tournament run.... William Blount does have Tuck to shut down opposing bats and should be better .... Heritage will have several new faces
  17. Anybody have any information on Alcoa Softball? Who looks to stand out? Can they make any noise in their district or region?
  18. We all know Maryville will be strong again this year, but how do all of you see this district panning out and why?
  19. Who are the top catchers in the Knoxville area and where are they from?
  20. For Heritage, at least at the start of the season, senior Chase Boruff will get the nod at QB. However, look for sophomore Patrick West to find some playing time as well.
  21. I, too, learned those things mentioned above and would add another. I am not sure of how to state it, but it is a combination of several things already mentioned (teamwork, perserverance, responsibility, etc.). I learned that life is not fair and sometimes, even though you work hard and give all you have, you still can fail! You may not earn the playing time you worked for or your team may not win despite many hours of blood, sweat, and tears. In short, I guess I learned how to "lose" with dignity and pick up the pieces and move on with life without regrets.
  22. Actually, not really a distaste. Cermak, and whichever other good/decent athlete that does actually enroll at Heritage, have to deal with not having "more around him." That is what is a shame about Blount County sports, and probably many other counties as well. Just go where you are supposed to and get what you deserve through hard work. There are numerous student/athletes that should be at Heritage that are elsewhere. Some do it the right way and others, well............
  23. Why is that a waste? What better type of player to build a struggling program around! This kid has it all together athletically and academically and he wanted to go to Heritage. I applaud him for being loyal, a trait that doesn't exist anymore in sports, especially in Blount County High School sports. Nothing wrong, or wasted, by Cermak for that!
  24. Don't forget about Michael Cermak, running back, from Heritage. Although HHS is traditionally not very strong, Cermak would stand out at any HS in Blount County. He goes 6'0" and 190 lbs. and runs forty in 4.5 (from Unapproved Website).
  25. Ooltewah Farragut Oak Ridge William Blount
