How long has Westmoreland been called the "Rockpile"? Why?? Never heard that before.

This is a classic rivalry that has spanned the ages. I hope both teams have a great week of practice and all players are healthy before and after it's over. Both teams have quality coaching staffs that have coached in big games. I hope the place is rocking and the kids get to enjoy a tremendous atmosphere reminiscent of a late playoff game. This is why you play high school football. Should be a GREAT game.

Was there not a story somewhere of the guy being timed at a 4.2 or 4.3 until he went to a combine and got timed a 4.5. They went back to where he was from and measured the 40 again and it turns out he was running a 38. I don't have a dog in this hunt and I feel bad for the young men that are wanting to represent N.E. on the football field. As I've read thru all of these comments, I can't help but wonder, is the administration at N.E. or perhaps even the school board themselves trying to eliminate the football program at this one high school. This would set a precedent for later on when and if another school fell on hard times; they could eliminate another one until they do away with football all together. After all, Montgomery Co. isn't known as being that supportive of high school football. In these days of high prices and obvious lack of leadership, is this possible??

We call it Carthage HS because it's the high school in Carthage. You should be proud of your town. Carthage HS was renamed to the current name a few yrs. ago by a school board that obviously was biased toward the north side of the river. I've always wondered why Cookeville wasn't called Putnam Co. HS or Gallatin was called Sumner Co. HS?? Must have something to do with respect and/or lack thereof. It has been confirmed 100% that Moose Marshall is the new head coach of GHS and Mark Medley is the principal. GOOD LUCK MOOSE!!

A new principal will have to be named first. He/She will then select the head football coach.

I've been a longtime supporter of the big blue that lives in another part of the state. After 14 pages of "talk", I sure hope they're ready to go. Sounds like there's a tremendous amount of expectation for this team to go deep into the playoffs. Can they handle the pressure?

To be quite honest the idiotic joke is the person who started this thread! Nowhere on Coach T has any winning school started a thread just to down the losing team. I've not seen such lack of class in quite some time. I hope Carthage High School gets everything they deserve this year.

They're not a nuisance, they're hilarious. Out of all the posters on the T, they're second in arrogance only to Riverdale fans..........yet they're only 9 state title games behind!! haha I love 'em all!

I talked with a couple of coaches that saw Carthage play in the passing tournament at Lavergne HS. They said even though Carthage was the smallest school there, they competed very well against the bigger schools. From the sound of it, Gordonsville better be ready for no-huddle, no backs and wideouts everywhere.

On Saturday, we were told we would play at 2 on Sunday. Our coach asked, "Are you sure it's not at one"? I personally heard him ask that question. The lady in charge at the Southside location said, "No, you play at 2. Our coach did his job.........the tournament director did not.

Turney Ford - TSSAA Hall of Fame Mark Medley - 2 yrs. head coach - 2 state title games - 1 championship Also guided Lebanon to the quarterfinals Dan Winfree - won state title at Lincoln Co. as an assistant Brad Cowan - won 2 state titles at Riverdale as an assistant Bob Dillard - took 5A Lebanon to the quarterfinals as head coach Stanley Wills - longtime assistant who took Gordonsville to the quarterfinals that's all I can remember. Some pretty good success stories
