  1. projected region is as follows District 13: 3A ??” Milan, Westview; 4A ??” Covington, Crockett Co., Dyersburg, Fayette-Ware, Gibson Co., Haywood, Obion Co., Ripley As you can see this will disrupt some old Milan rivalries (humboldt,Peabody, Stangs) as Milan will only be able to pick up one game (you have to play all schools in your district including the 4A ones). Since classification will be based on Sept 08's enrollment, GC will be in 4A and have to stay there at least 2 years 09 & 10. It's also crappy from a playoff point since only 1 3A team from this district will go to the playoffs. The other team will stay at home (there is a very unliklely scenario that the second team could get a wild card but it is almost imposible in reality). Pretty Sorry Huh?
  2. Milan is going to 3A as well under Uncle Ronnies convoluted plan.
  3. If you will check the facts you will find that USJ will no longer be playing in 2A next year anyway. They along with JCS and most other privates that still play in D1 will be moved to 3A and will have to play 4A teams (schools with 1,000 plus enrolment) during the regular season. It seems that even with the multiplier (highest in the US) the TSSAA will never be satisfied until the privates leave or no private ever makes the playoffs. It would be blatantly obvious if they raised the multiplier more so they legislate changes in the levels and regular season mix to make things so odious that schools are left with little choice. I'm sure that all the privates will be relieved to get away from that perennial powerhouse GC (who has a 3A enrollment) and go play schools from Nashville and Memphis that can afford (and do) give financial aid when they cannot.
  4. I know the game is going to be on the radio. Is the internet link going to be working this week? We have some fans in Arkansas that were unable to listen last week.
  5. Westview always has good team even in the so called "Down" years. JCS is outsized but will play with a lot of heart. Should be a good game.
  6. Jaxman, you missed your calling. You should have been a sports reporter for the Jackson Sun (LOL). Great recap!
  7. Jon David Johnson and Zack Parker
  8. Your right. It's always a good game. I'll be there. Any idea why they are playing the game on a Thursday night?
  9. I'm sure that Washington is a great athlete. He will also have a lot of help from Nelson. The problem that Trinity will have is having only FOUR returning starters. 90% of the team is sophmore or below. You just cant loose that much unless you are packed with stars. I pick USJ by 2 TD's. They will probablly do OK (2nd or 3rd) in the weak division but will be gone after the firtst round of playoffs.
  10. Now that you have brought that up and I have had enough time to cool off, you are probably right. It still stinks that you have other districts with that will get 2 or more automatic playoff spots and milan and westview are in a winner take all situation.
  11. From the TSSAA minutes ... 4. Teams would qualify for the playoffs in the following manner: a. One half of the teams in each group (6A, 5A) in each district are automatic qualifiers (Example: 4 teams - 2 automatic qualifiers; 6 teams -3 automatic qualifiers; 3 teams 1 automatic qualifier; 1 team 0 automatic qualifiers) b. Teams finishing 1st or 2nd in the district are automatic qualifiers c. Wild cards based on TSSAA tiebreakers By the example given in 4-a : 1/2 of a group would automatically qualify (this is not rounded up) so 3 teams would get 1 qualifier (3 x .5 = 1.5) and 2 teams would get 1 qualifier (2 x .5 = 1) etc. in rule 4-b an example would be as follows:a district with 3 3A teams and 5 4A teams. A 3A team loses to the other 2 3A teams but beats 4 of the 5 4A teams giving him a total district record that would place him 1st or second overall would get an automatic bid.
  12. Wrong! Say you have a district that has 4 3A teams and 6 4A teams. Top 2 from 3A would go and the top 3 from 4A would go (top 50% from each group in the district). If you tweaked the same example and had 3 teams in 3A and 5 teams in 4A, then 3A would get 1 automatic playoff spot and 4A would get 2. The rest would have to pray for a wild card.
  13. In District 13 3A you only have Milan and Wesview. Whoever beats the other makes the playoffs the other one has to beat some very tough 4A teams and pray for a wildcard berth. Milan could Beat Westview and have a record of 1 and 9 and make the playoffs. Westview could loose to Milan and be 5 and 5 and sit at home.
  14. True but if FA and Trinity stay and USJ and JCS go to D2 that will only leave one local matchup (USJ vs JCS) and the rest between memphis and nashville opponets. I guess you could pick up FA and Trinity as non divisional games if you have that many available. Don't know about USJ but I don't think JCS would be able to offer a lot of Fin. Aid.
  15. I never realized there was an option! Or could that be the decision that was refered to in the subject line of this thread.
  16. I don't see anything even remotely fair about the new districts. It' like David vs Goliath. Look at the aprox. enrolments of District 14 3A JCS-320 (private) USJ-380 (private) Camden- over 600 JCM-650 4A Chester- over 700 Southside- over 800 Lexington -over 900 Bolivar-900 McNairy-800 Liberty- over 1000 The privates might as well just try to beat 2 0f the 3 other teams in 3A to make the playoffs and forfeit the games with the 4A teams (they esentially mean nothing and why beat your team up. With 300 kids you might have talent but not much depth). Wonder what TSSAA would think of that.
  17. They are private schools but they are DII and don't play publics for championships.
  18. Todays Jackson Sun says that it will be in this Sundays Paper (Dec. 23)
  19. Last few years the Sun has printed it on Christmas Day or Eve.
  20. Trinity will have a hard go of it next year. I think they are graduating 17 or 18 and only have 5 juniors and 6 sophomores. In addition to that, their enrollment should move them up to 2A in 2009 unless the TSSAA revamps the whole mess.
  21. I heard Mansfield is leaving. Is it true?
  22. Yes it's something when young men can teach old men. I will always remember the last 2 years and I know they will. Far from the athletic fields and the colleges they will attend, I expect to see great things in the future from these men. I have been blessed more than I deserve. Good luck to Milan. At least part of my family will be there rooting for you Friday night ( I have to work /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" )
