I'm picking this to be the upset of the week. I think JCS scrapes out a 1 or 3 point win. At this point, I think either team would have to play better than they have all season to win.

West of the river it would have to be Peabody's Kendall Harper. After the team had a great year last year, he is working overtime this year to keep the team in the hunt...fairly single-handedly so far. He is a dual threat to opponents.

Heard from reliable source that Hanson will only be out about 3 weeks of the season...it's not an ACL so it doesn't require surgery.

I'm sorry Greenman, but the magazine only covers 10 counties in Middle TN (will be 11 in Aug.). West TN has its own version. And there is currently no OTB East TN. Perhaps you were confused on the coverage area.

Somebody be sure to let us know how the scrimmage turns out.

Well, the specifics of the benefits I can't tell you. What I can tell you is that TX (who most would argue has the best high school football in the nation) has 7-on-7 practically as a religion. Almost as many people come out to watch those "passing leagues" as the regular season games. There's got to be something to it. I think TN should do more of it.

It says on his site that these are listed alphabetically right now and that he will rank them each week. So he's not saying Bruceton is his number one pick in 1A, just that they are in his top 5.

Do you or anyone have more info on the Crockett County Jamboree? When and Who's in it?

the list I have for this event is Haywood, South Side, North Side, Liberty, USJ, TCA, JCS, Dyer Co., Gibson Co., Bruceton, Humboldt and Chester Co. I think it will be a great opportunity to see some early skill

I agree. The coach is just trying to be nice by putting them in at the end of an otherwise unchangable outcome. As a bench player myself in middle school I was happy for my 30 seconds of play. I was smart enough to know then that I wasn't ready at the time. I worked my way up and I suspect so will the players you are talking about. If you are really saying that the bench players are just as good/bad as the starters then I guess it doesn't really matter.

Your team needs more confidence. It doesn't matter how many holes Cunningham finds if the rest of the team doesn't show up. Cunningham is one of the best backs in the area, but he can't win the games alone.

It will be interesting, but I know those non-region games will be a key component for a lot of teams next year. I think Milan will make it in without having to worry about the wildcard, but other teams will really have to think about that.

It's funny that only the schools who get beat complain about private schools. You don't see schools who win complain because they do what they have to do to win against ANY team. I think that many people have given plenty of examples of private schools who do not have good programs. Recruiting is an issue you need to let go. Just because they have money doesn't mean they can bypass the rules, and this comes from someone who went to a public school.

I have every confidence that Milan will do very well against these opponents and win plenty of games, but what do you all think about this with the new playoff system? Non-region wins will be a huge factor next year.
