Does anyone know why there are no semifinal matches in the D-1 tournament this year? They have had them in the past, and they had them this year in the D-2 tournament. But now the bracket winners go straight to the championship game. Why the format change?

Yep. Looks like it was a 5-0 win for the Lady Kickers judging from the change in GF & GA. That's how I'll score it, anyway.

Lady Kickers and Brentwood Beat are in contention for the two remaining state tournament slots with only one league game remaining (Lady Kickers vs. Falcons) Lady Kickers - Must win vs. Falcons to advance Brentwood - Advances with loss or tie by Lady Kickers. BUSC Starz, TNFC White, Falcons, and Redoubt FC are eliminated from contention.

You're very welcome. I wish I had access to TSSA's official game reports. I'd be happy to keep the scores & standing for our age bracket updated for them.

Be careful about what TSSA has posted, since it may not be accurate. The U-16 standings has a few errors, so it's possible that the U-17 standings may not be correct.

Unbelievable. There are only two game results posted for the entire D1 state league. I have the results of 10 different games for the U-16 age bracket alone. Update: I see today (4-14-08) that there are scores and standings posted for all D1 age groups. Kudos to whoever got it done at TSSA.

The state tournament and the Eurosport rankings are seperate, as they should be. Qualifying for the state tournament is no guarantee that a team is one of the best 8 teams in the state, and the polls merely reflect who the pollsters feel are the best teams in the state. I understand why some of the SD folks are upset, but it's not reasonable to assume that a state tourn. appearance automatically makes you one of the best 8. I'd be interested to see how you would rank the top 11 compared to Eurosport's rankings. Who would you place behind SD and why?

And of course they were the only DIIA school that could do any recruiting, right? This is the second post I've seen disparaging St. George's. If you have issues with the school, coaches, or whatever, then take it up with them in private. I see no reason to downgrade the accomplishments of a group of teenage girls. Congrats to them. They earned their state title as much as any of the other 3 state title winners did.

I think some of the people who post to this forum need to look up the definition of the term "dominate". How can you dominate an "evenly played game"?

You must not have been at the same Beech-Oak Ridge game that I went to. Oak Ridge put a lot of pressure on Beech for most of the game. It was a lot closer game than the 2-0 score implies. "Totally dominated" is not a fair description of the game at all.

Oak Ridge Varsity & JV are seperate. JV players do not dress for varsity games.

Thanks for all the input, BigG. Quite frankly, I'm not sure this rule will have much effect, if any, on any H.S. team anywhere. We're talking about the 7th best player on down from the same school on the same club team being unable to participate. (Just my opinion, your mileage may vary) However, it does affect some players as individuals, as their choice of participation in club soccer may prevent them from playing at the H.S. level. I wonder how many soccer players this actually affects statewide.

BigG, could you either post the proposed rule as written by TSSAA or post a link to it? I have looked for it on the TSSAA website, but I couldn't find it and I'm not sure where to look. Also, I had a question for you previously in this thread and I suppose you might have missed it. What I wanted to know was: If a large enough group of girls play club together this spring (2007), they wouldn't be able to play HS together in the Fall (2007), assuming the rule were to pass?

So in effect what you are saying is this rule would be policed by the honor system? That's great for the 99% of coaches that would comply with the rule, but I'm asking about the 1% of unscrupulous people that would deliberately try to circumvent the rule. How can TSSAA prove they violated the rule?

BigG, I still can't see how TSSAA can provide conclusive proof about who plays for what club team. Is there any way that TSSA could be compelled to provide information about club registration? I would think that privacy laws would prevent them from doing so. How can TSSAA satisfy their burden of proof? Would they have to rely on eyewitness testimonials?

Where are you getting this information? I've heard what you're saying as rumor before, but I'd like to know where it comes from.
