  1. Congrats Vikings! Love the old school mentality you guys play with. My first time in Anderson County...you folks were first class. Great football environment.
  2. South is headed to the semi finals. The games in between the semis are just tune ups for the Maryville rematch. East will suffer the same fate that 11 other opponents have shared......a defeat. The Rebel offense is in high gear.....no answers for Fletcher (the best back this side of Knoxville), Davenport, or Kitzmiller. And that Offensive line..they are so dominant. To the Cane seniors you have five days of football left and it s all over, so enjoy. In a rout Rebels 42 Canes 7 Good luck to both.
  3. The last MLC title at stake. The Rebels and the Vikings. I must say I am a bit surprised. I did not give the Vikes much of a chance to get here, so congrats are in order to a fine group of over acheivers. The business at hand..... no trash talk intened, just what the old man has seen this year. THS will have a difficult time stopping the Rebel offense. Davenport, Kitzmiller, and Fletcher are the best the MLC has to offer. Plus you must take into account the best offensive line this side of Knoxville. THS brings in a stable of good backs Shepherd, Tallman, and King. I think the Rebel D steps up big. I know Coach Carter has challeneged them all week. The Vikes will be forced to throw and this means big trouble for a team with very average receivers and a QB. So I think South goes for blood early and if they get it the Cinderella Vikes will fold fast........Rebels 37 Vikings 17 Sullivan South Rebs 4 peat! Good luck to Both
  4. Johnson County should pull this one out, but I think we will see a good game Horns 24 Pats 19 Good Luck to both
  5. I watched THS and Betsy on TV this week, and I saw a Cyclone team that was just man handled. The Cyclone offense has got away from their strength. I dont think they are a gun team, but they do have a couple of good I tailbacks. The Rebels are rolling, getting better every time they take the field. They to will ram the football down Betsys throat. A long wet night ahead for the Cyclones...........Rebels 54 Cyclones 14 ( if Coach C calls off the dogs) Good Luck to Both
  6. The Raiders showed a whole bunch of character in this one. That is one mark of a good football team. North does not know the meaning of the word surrender. They will fight to the end. Way to bounce back Raiders. You prooved me wrong I thought the THS loss would have a negative impact and knock you off track. Enjoy your victory and get ready for a show down with number 3 in the state.
  7. Well I missed this one bad! I really thought it would be close. Good job Vikes.
  8. Great job Rebs. It looked like you were clicking on all cylinders last night. I would like to say Outstanding job to the offensive line. You guys sometimes do not get the recognition you deserve.
  9. Where to start? Dear Cap and company take off your rose colored glasses. The Vikes simply do not have the talent they have had in past years. In my humble opinion THS has never had great talent, but Coach Stubbs seems to get the most out of what he has. My credentials as a coach are not great by any means but I did spend 11 years as an assistant at the junior college level. (I know this does not compare to the NFL epertise of Cap and company and all the critics) I have seen the Vikes a few times this year and they are lacking in talent. Number 31 is a fine football player and he should touch the ball 25-30 times a game, period. I do think the Vikes have hurt themselves trying to throw the ball. The players (not the coaches) had a tough time completeing a screen passes at Kingsport. The critics on this thread have developed into parasites and you are further weakening the Vikings. To the team and coaches I say come together. Stand tough. I would love to see the conference championship decided in the Castle. The road is tough including a looming battle in Mtn. City. Oh Cap, Al Davis would welcome your coaching expertise!
  10. In my humble opinion South only has one test before entering the playoffs , and that will be the Elizabethton Cyclones. The Rebels will crush the Pats this week. It may very well be one of the worst thumpings in East history. They will handle North fairly easy, and THS has no chance in the season finale. I have seen the Vikings play, and they have one football player. Now the Cyclones could turn into a shoot out. I do not believe they can stop the big three on "O" for South, but the Rebs may have trouble with the Cyclone "O". Oh well this week The Rebels 61 East 7 Good luck to both
  11. Question: Can the Cyclones handle the physical, smash mouth style of the wing-t? Question: Can North handle all the speed that Elizabethton puts on the field? I think the answer to both is...... No. So I think this should be an outstanding game and I will be in attendance. I think the Cyclones are ready to take a huge step forward and compete for a conference title. I dont think the Raiders will respond well to their first loss so.......Cyclones 22 Raiders 15 Good Luck to Both
  12. Well I watched the Vikings and Raiders last night and it was a fine game to watch. For a half I thought the Vikes looked like a very fine football team. It was vintage Viking Football, the long ground drives, and the solid defense. Then in the second half North looked to be the better team. I have seen the Longhorns play once this year, and they have the ability to throw the ball and THS does not seem to have the ability to defend the pass. I think this will be the battle for third in the conference, as I believe Elizabethton and South to be superior to both of these teams(all ready proven against the Horns). The Vikings are not a healthy team right now............Horns 28 Vikings 23 Good Luck to Both
  13. Two teams headed in opposite directions. The Cyclones have speed all over the place and this may be one of the most physical teams in the last few years. The Pats are coming off a victory over a 1A weakling, so they should not pat themselves on the back too much. Forbes and Carr will light up a weak East Defense. East says good bye to the playoffs most likely............. The Cyclones 41 The Pats 12 Good Luck to Both
  14. An average team vs. a good team. Should be easy to understand what I am talking about. A bunch of athletes vs. a few. The Viking O and D lines can not hold up in this one. Lets face it Vikes its just not your year. Another contest that could get out of hand quick. Suvey says.......... Toppers 39 Vikings 14 Good Luck to Both
  15. The Trailblazers were once one of the most physical, punishing, smash mouth teams around. They once were. On Friday they get a taste of real smashmouth Rebel style. They get to see an outstanding o line and a great running back. Oh dont forget Mr. D can throw just a little to a cat named Kitzmiller. Now what Boone? This one may get ugly The Rebels 49 Blazers 7 Good luck to both
  16. The Cyclones are in for a tough one. The orange and black will not have a speed advantage or a strength advantage. It really does not make sense why Betsy is even playing an opponent like this. Hope the Cyclone can stay healthy because they have a chance at making arun in the MLC. The Tribe (5A) 41 The Cyclones (not really 4A) 14 good luck to both
  17. Great job Cyclones! The way things are looking we may see a first round play off game back at Dave Rider field.
  18. Does anyone know if it will be South or Maryville hosting the semi final 4A game? Outstanding job South. Fletcher is the best back I can remember in Norteast TN in recent years and Davenport looks tough.
  19. The Vikes better learn fast that the past is the past, and now is now. What happened a year ago or 40 years ago makes no difference this Friday night.
  20. Wow! It seems there is a meeting of some of the greatest coaching minds of all time on this board. I cant believe you guys have day jobs! Resign. Head for the NFL! Get paid for the abundance of wisdom you are pouring out. Oh by the way Rebels will still be Conf champs, even if all of you are on the sidelines calling plays. Keep working Vikes at least make it interesting for week ten
  21. At the start of the season their was talk of a Longhorn upset, but I think most now expect a romp. The mighty Rebel "O" is about to dine on a prime cut of Longhorn beef. I will go so far as to say that the Rebs put at least 28 on everybody they play in the regular season. Too much fire power.........Rebs 41 Horns 14 Good Luck to both
  22. Trojan Football v. Topper Football. Enough said! MW Trojans 38 SH Toppers 20
  23. Greenville gets a taste of the best the MLC has to offer. I dont see this game staying close very long. The Greenville Defense will have it hands full. The Rebs balanced attack and best O line around take control after a close half........... Rebels 35 Devils 17 good luck to both
  24. I did not see this game but I can agree with most of the posts. As a football fan who makes a Friday evening out of a high school game of the week of my choosing, I usually show up in The Castle two or three times a year. It is an awesome stadium, but the atmosphere is often funeral like. I was there for the THS / Volunteer playoff last year, and I am almost certain the Falcons had a bigger fan base. I have only been in this area about 10 or 11 years but recent years have appeared worse than in the early 2000's. The folks of Bristol should be proud of what they have......other places would kill for it. Oh by the way, congrats to the Vikings on the win last night.
  25. A great football game. Two pretty good teams that can make some noise in the MLC. CONGRATS TO THE CYCLONES!
