  1. Until I saw West play Friday at Heritage I would have agreed with that statement. 1. Offensive and defensive fronts are a little too small and do not get much of a push. 2. Best running back on the team is probably done for the season. 3. A terrible 1-9 Heritage team should have beat them. This could be attributed to the playing conditions. However, Heritage had more yards of offense on the ground than West with more fumbles. It could also be attributed to Brent Russell leaving, but really none of the players liked him anyway. West could have easily been overlooking Heritage but they would have eventually woke up, yet they did not. I don't believe West is the team to beat in 5A. They are good but not good enough. Best of luck to them! I hope they make a deep run, however, it is unlikely.
  2. Both Evan and Austin played outstanding games! There were two awards, one by MyVLT and one by TACA. Evan received the "Hardees" defensive MVP from MyVLT and Austin received the MVP award from TACA. This is the reason for the confusion. However, both players showed a great deal of playmaking abilities in the game and are deserving of their awards. I hope both of these young men get an opportunity to play at the next level. Anyone that takes a chance on these two will not be disappointed from what I saw yesterday. Congrats to both!
  3. Against Maryville he had 12 tackles 2 sacks 1 INT Farragut he had 10 tackles 1 for loss Heritage has not played Bearden or Catholic yet. Cermak committed to Army yesterday.
  4. Micheal Cermak from Heritage is a solid candidate. He has 90 total tackles through seven games. He is probably the best player in Blount County. He flies all over the field and makes a lot things happen for the Heritage defense.
  5. According to the Maryville-Alcoa Daily Times, Micheal Cermak has committed to Army. The article says that it just felt like the right fit and that he is really excited about the opportunity to play Division I football. Here is a link: http://www.thedailytimes.com/article/20 ... /310159962 Congrats to Micheal!! Well deserved for a hardworking young man.
  6. HAH! I heard a lot of great things about Jon Young until last year and I will agree that he did not get to do what he was "Promised" as so many have said. From the stands on Friday nights, Monday nights, and through the week I saw a coach who gave up on his players. When things got bad on Friday he just stood towards the end of the game away from everyone with his arms crossed while other coaches continued to coach. I was very disappointed with the great and creative Jon Young, but maybe he will coach his position better when whoever he is coaching is winning. Watch out when things go bad. I think Heritage is better off without him. Good luck Heritage!
  7. It is my understanding that Brandon Waters has not applied for head coach but has been hired as the strength and conditioning coach and assistant football coach. He will be a great asset to the Heritage program. He is young, energetic, positive, and works hard at everything he does. It is a great hire by Chip Fuller and I think he will do a great job.
  8. I concur your concur. Neither Jon McBrayer or Flip Pearson are qualified or have any business in this job. I do not care if they have ties to the school. They are both coaches that would continue the same old Heritage history. Heritage needs someone with fresh ideas and discipline.
  9. Jon McBrayer is not the answer for Heritage. I heard from former players that while he was an assistant at Heritage under Wilson he was not well liked, and the players felt like he did not know what he was talking about. His only experience is at Union County where he had a dismal record. I am not sure he would be the right fit. The new coach at Heritage is going to have to built speed, a sense of community, discipline, keep players from Maryville & Alcoa, get players out of the hallways, and build a winning attitude. It will be hard to find the right person for the job that wants the job. Good luck to Heritage on the search. It seems like they are a school that could have success (5-5, 6-4 seasons) with the right coach. I hope the Heritage program is built up and becomes competitive.
  10. I am not saying that Danny Wilson is as good as the "Great" George Quarles, but he is 2-2 against him. The two wins came as head coach for Heritage in 1999 and 2000. I think it is safe to say that he has the best record in the state head to head against Quarles. However, I do believe Maryville will keep the streak going and win in the first round. Good Luck in the playoffs to both teams.
  11. What is Heritage's staff like? I have not heard a lot about the coaches except for the head coach. Please provide a little info.
  12. Heritage seems like a different team with a different attitude this year. However, they probably will not be able to hang with Maryville late in the game. I would like to see 63-1 but it will probably be 64-0. Good luck to both teams.
  13. My understanding from people I know at Heritage is that Noah is a little shaky under pressure. Just look at the field goals/ extra points he has missed in the past. People have told me has a tremendous leg but unreliable.
  14. I think it is important that a few things be clarified. One, the Robinettes do live in the Maryville city limits which allows him to attend Maryville or Blount County schools. However, his father is the principal at Heritage Middle and his mother is a teacher at Walland Elementary both are feeder schools to Heritage High. It is a shame that no one in the Blount County Central Office had the manhood to fire them after this occurred. As an eighth grader he scored a 30 on the ACT and has recently scored a 31. Academics is not the issue at all. He was also voted most liked or some kind of similar superlative while at HMS. The appeal stated that he needed the year to mature socially because he had some social issues which is bs. It probably did not hurt his chances of winning the appeal with Maryville's Lynn Brown on the TSSAA board. Heritage did not recruit the Robinette family nor did it recruit the Fuller family for jobs just for their kids to play sports. Jesse Robinette has been an assistant principal at John Sevier Elementary, Maryville High School, head principal at Alcoa High School, and now principal at HMS. Imagine if he was still the principal at Alcoa and did this, he would be fired in a heart beat. It has also been said that Quarles told Jesse that this was a stupid move that will make himself and the Maryville program look bad. As far as the education goes it is all what you and your family expect and put into it. I know people that graduated from Heritage High School that are doctors, lead engineers for major corporations, big time businessmen, etc... all making six figures or more due to their education at heritage and other places. I also know people from Maryville that are bums who have made nothing for their own lives because of what they put into education. nuff said
  15. How did the scrimmage with heritage go? How did the teams look?
  16. don't forget cleveland fans. Danny Wilson is the last coach to beat Maryville two years in a row. So have a little faith in ole DW.
