  1. Pirates played admirably. It should be obvious to most that they were outmanned, but they never quit. I felt both teams made some good personnel adjustments going into this game that helped each team. The Pirates sold out to stop the run after the first couple possessions, and I feel like the pass plays we hit at the end of the game were there most of the night, but we chose to grind it out. I don't think the game was as close as the score indicates, however, the effort from the Pirates helped that. Both teams missed chances. SP had a few drops, and Gville dropped a pick 6 and another interception. As far as the refs, they let the boys play, maybe a little too much. I think there were only two holding penalties called all night, a defensive holding against SP that was declined and an offensive holding on Gville that negated a 50 yard run. There were probably only about 5 flags the whole game, and there were some that should've been called and we're obvious, but weren't. For example SP should've been called for a delay of game on one of their pints as the clock was on 0, but it wasn't. As far as our boys, they played hard and physical, and that's what I wanted to see, and we had several underclassmen making plays, so we may have some good matchups down the road. The opening kickoff was returned by a freshman, and another freshman started on the line, several sophomores and juniors played. It was a long post, but the Pirates can be proud of their effort, and the Tigers can be proud they advanced to avenge an earlier loss.
  2. I would've loved to, but just now saw this.
  3. Yeah some bearded guy was behind the goalpost holding up a staff hollering "Stand still!"
  4. SP has to feel pretty good that it's only 14-7 after the way it started. Personally, I don't understand some things, but I'm just a fan.
  5. Look up 104.1 the ranch. You can stream the audio there.
  6. These posts are normally more pages, and yes, Gordonsville thinks they can travel to SP and win.
  7. To be honest, I absolutely think that Gville has the horses to win and control the game. My only fear is that we've underperformed at times this year. That's why we lost to Watertown and the game with Jo Byrns was tight. I'm hoping we don't see that side of this team tomorrow. If we don't, I feel pretty good. Regardless, if they play with the motor I've seen the last couple of games, that will make up for any deficiencies. Regardless of the gameplan, I just want to see physicality and aggressiveness out of the Tigers.
  8. I personally think Gville and Clay are both better than Murphy, but I guess we'll know for sure Friday.
  9. Since Sp fans have been giving their keys to winning.... Gville will have to be as physical and high motored as they have been. If they do that, SP will have a hard time blocking them, and if they've had the penalty troubles like y'all have let on, that will get exploited. Pressure from the defensive front is key. On offense, I think we can hit some plays in the pass game, but I think we need to run the ball physically. Personally, I'd love to see us just line up in the I and pound it. We have to be able to run the ball to win, imo. In the pass game, we need to be patient and take what we're given and hit the long ball when available.
  10. Nevermind him. He's from Carthage and doesn't know any better.
  11. Nah, Gville has won more in recent years. It's amazing how you Carthage folks forget last year and the year before... Personally, I think it will be great to be in the same region, and I firmly believe the win streaks that happened in the past will be more rare going forward.
  12. Oh, I don't doubt it. I think we will be 2A eventually. How soon is the question. Our growth has exploded the last couple of years.
  13. It might, and might not. We increased by 50 students in 2 years, and we'll have a similar number in 2 years, but it's likely to drop a little in the classification after.
  14. The 2006 team had the athletes and they showed it the next year. FWIW, that Gville team was good enough to go deep as they lost in the second by one point to Friendship who ended as the runner up. So, there was no shame in losing to that Gville team.
  15. You may be right. We play quite a bit more younger kids than I expected we would coming into this season, especially since we only lost 3 starters on each side of the ball. They have gained quite a bit of experience that will only help in the coming years, so, hopefully we won't have the dropoff we did in 2013 after losing a comparable number of seniors.
  16. Hope so. Nah. We're playing a couple freshmen as well.
  17. BTW, no one at the Tennessean is expecting anyone to stop SP until the finals.
  18. This seems to be a perennial playoff matchup. Gville hasn't won since 2012, and we have a senior heavy team like that year. The key for Gville is to show the physicality that they've displayed the past couple weeks
