  1. Not trying to stir the pot, just notice that Sheila has been a member of Coach T since 2004, Hood wasn't playing varsity in 2004. Just pointing out the facts. Dragonfanfirst, please look in the mirror and see if your actions are improving the football team. Here in lies the problem with some people. They are always trying to get one up on everybody. Didn't your momma tell you if you didn't have something nice to say, then keep your mouth shut. I'm ashamed that I graduated from Clinton. You people make us look like stupid rednecks.
  2. First of all, let me apologize for my part in this message board. I have removed all of my previous posts and this will be my last. Like many of you, I haven't been to greatest example for these kids by some of the trash that I've spoken on this message board. I, like so many others, love to create controversy here. It’s kind of the same concept that makes Jerry Springer fun to watch. Is it right? Absolutely not. I may not agree with the actions of some coaches but it’s their decisions to make, not mine. So I ask myself, what is gained? The obvious answer is no one gains anything. I have to ask myself, who suffers the most in all of this? The answer to me is simple, the kids. I finally realized this and I won’t be a part of it anymore. Best of luck to the students and I encourage all parents to follow suit. High School is supposed to be fun. In life, not all things are as rosy as we all would like but at work or at the home, you must take personal accountability for your actions. If at the end of the day, you can look yourself in the mirror and be proud, no one can take that away. Best of luck to the Dragons, coaches and students.
  3. Either Anderson County is down this year or on this thread there isn't anything good to talk about. Dragons roll in week one.
  4. Thank you Catback. Long time, no see. It's about that time of year again. Who do the mighty Wildcats start off with this year?
  5. OakRidgeCat, Catback...have you missed me. It seems like the intensity and almost cockiness is back at Oak Ridge. Unfortunately, our game has been moved to the middle of the season and yes, that worries me. You should be hitting your stride just about then.
  6. I'm not saying that the kid from Clinton is the best in the state, its hard to make that statement for anyone. That being said, he seems to have leadership, a good understanding of a new offense, and does have a rocket for an arm. Did I mention that he's pretty tough. I think he was sacked around 60 times last year. While others, like Jake Ryan and Burnette from Maryville have div. I talent to throw the ball too, Clinton will need some consistency at the skill positions and better production from the offensive line for him to really showcase his potential. He has the tools to be really special but in todays athletic arena, talent only gets you so far. The team needs to rally together and get some wins....
  7. Ouch, we've been schedules as the homecoming game. Who was the sick, sadistic fellow that agreed to that. I will say, last year was a fun year as a Dragon fan. We didn't have a lot of wins to show for it but we did compete. Any Wildcat fan must admit, we competed last year. We didn't get the win, but was were at least in the ball game. Good luck to you all this year, except on Sept. 28. GO DRAGOONS!!!!!!
  8. chsdragons has been ELIMINATED! There is justice in this world.
  9. Maryville is in the top 25 in the nation. What 5A team from TN can say that???
  10. Dragon fans, I reported chsdragon to Coach-T, explained the story of the Green McAdoo Cultural center and requested that chsdragon be removed from the website. No how or no one should be excused for this type of ignorance.
  11. I'll give you my perspective. Powell was a lot bigger than us. I mean a lot. I don't know what you all are doing in the weight room but that was the biggest team we've faced all year. Cruze is as advertised. He basically toyed with our defense. Good luck in the playoffs!!!!
  12. The GREAT DRAGOON says, "Panthers don't like water but will Dragons fire go out in the rain?". Who knows? Wet field means poor footing, poor tackling, poor running, poor passing and lots of turnovers. Crappy for grounds crew but should be fun as heck to play and watch, that is if you all have a little "kid" inside of you that still likes to play in the mud. ROLL DRAGONS, I've got my duck boots ready, my rain coat on and I'M READY FOR SOME YUCKBALL!
  13. What I like is that most people posting are true Dragon fans, that only want the best for our kids and program. Opinions will differ but lets analyze this team. Defensively, we are undersized and not real fast. The fact is this defensive unit has allowed 50% fewer points than last years team. 50% is huge. These kids play with a lot of heart. They believe in each other and what the coaches are telling them. They have pride again for the program and the township. As for the Offensive, since everyone is being a football critic, here is my take. As I stated before, the offensive coord. is new and young. The Quarterback is a first year starter and this offensive was new to him as well. We have had about 9 different receiver combinations this year and if you have watched the games like I have, you understand that our receiving corp isn't fast either. As for the offensive line, its got some talent but it isn't being developed very good (that's my opinion only). They had an offensive line coach before the season and he didn't honor his commitment to our team. Thus it left us without one. We've had to make do. What does all this mean you ask? Oak Ridge, we scored early because they really didn't know what to expect. As they made half time adjustments, we couldn't get a receiver clear do to lack of speed. Maryville, well, their Maryville. Campbell county, stars aligned that night, believe it or not, we were the bigger and faster team, hence the 42 points. South Doyle, believe it or not, they were bigger and faster once again. Halls and West, were all over the quarterback. Central, offensive line played a lot better and we had some decent drives but stalled towards the end zone. I personally thought, the Central game was our best offensive game plan of the year. No we didn't score but we had some sustained drives in this game. To summerize all this, for the talent pull, new players and a new system, we are getting better. I also think that this style of offensive, if given a chance to stick around for a while, will bring some kids out for football, that might not have wanted to play otherwise. As for speed, well, I'm checking with the City Municipality, to see if we can put something in the water. To the team: I have absolutely loved watching you all play this year. W/L aside, you have played spirited football this year and I really look forward to our future and to see what can be built upon the foundation that you've laid down. To our coaching staff: enjoy your success' but keep up the energy level and believe in each other. You are making a difference in these kids and for our program. I'm looking forward to the playoffs next season. ROLL DRAGONS and beat the panthers......
  14. Look, Clinton isn't a bad football team. This past week at Central, one senior on the offensive side of the ball. They are young and really don't have any speed to think of at all. That being said, they still have coaching and players to throw for over 1000 yards this year. We don't have a Dayton, Maples, or for that matter, Darrell Miller. What we do have is a bunch of kids, coaches and community that are working hard at rebuilding a program. From an outsider, it is hard to understand. You only see W/L. We are looking for something like "Pride". Three years ago, that was gone. Clinton's football program was desimated. Not rebuilding or just young, it was desimated. Nobody wanted to play football in Clinton. Like it or not, there is a buzz in Clinton and that's what will turn the program around. That buzz is happening because of Andy's leadership and the energy from the new coaches. We still have some key positions to fill in the off season. Once we have those coaching positions filled and we get the right mix of players, Clinton will once again be competative. Is there a really a need to make a prediction for this game. Regardless if Clinton wins, everyone will say Powell had nothing to play for because they already have a playoff spot.
  15. Unfortunetly, I haven't seen Central play this year. What I can tell you is that Clinton has struggled against teams with a lot of speed. While Clinton is much improved, I don't think Clinton has made the necessary adjustments to counter teams with good speed. To many times, I have seen a slot receiver left unguarded or an opportunity to check off to a hot receiver and we don't seem to have that flexibility built into the offense. Its almost if that the receiver getting the ball is predetermined prior to the snap, regardless of the defensive set. Maybe, and I'll give the benefit of doubt to the coaching staff, the spread offensive is still being learned by the players and adding check offs would be confusing. Either way, this has caused us problems this year. While I would love to see Clinton pull off an upset, I suspect Clinton will play them tight early on and then when Central makes the necessary adjustments, its game over. What I would like to see is the fans supporting the Dragons without blame or ridicule. Remember these are just kids and the deserve our support. These kids and team are a far cry from the past couple of years. The foundation is being laid for a brighter future. Dragoons, lets shock the world!!!!!
  16. First off, anyone who thinks that Clinton was simply out coached Friday is nuts. Here are the facts. We don't have the receivers that can time and time again beat press coverage. The offensive line isn't good enough to protect the quarterback or really establish a running game. As for athletes, West could line up 30 people from there team that could out run our fastest player. Its a FACT. You can coach speed. You either have it or you don't. As for player attitudes and coaches, I think its been pretty good as a whole. There are rumblings but what do you expect. We are dealing with peoples kids and sometimes feelings get hurt. THIS AIN"T OPTIMIST LEAGUE! This is one of the toughest div. in football. Not to many cake walks. The one thing that really bothered me was this: Unruly, stupid fans. There was a fumbled exchange between the quarterback and snapper from the shotgun set. A fan made his way to where the offense huddles on the sideline and shouted words to the quarterback. you stink, blah, blah, blah. I could be wrong but does this help? That is what brings these kids down. I really wish someone would have kicked is toe Anyways, I do understand the frustration some time but "WE ARE A BETTER TEAM". Don't lose perspective. It's kids playing football. Not Life and Death. I would want my boy to play hard and practice hard. If in my heart of hearts, I know this to be true, then that is OK by me. Wins and loses won't mean a thing in a few years but his work ethic he will carry forever. AS FOR THAT FAN, You super stink, but I forgive you.
  17. To be honest and I've always tried to be, I think Clinton may struggle with West's team speed. Therefore, I'm going to give the edge to West. That being said, Clinton has the monkey off their backs. Gaining a second win was huge. They also just had their second player nominated for prepXtra player of the week honors. THis doesn't happen if the "team" doesn't perform well. I have also watched the team be kind of up and down this year. With some new schemes this year, both offensively and defensively, there has been a lot, and I mean a lot, of player shuffling. This past week, the offense seemed to click at times. Addition of a few new receivers and bam, instant offense. It seemed to open up the running game and next thing you know, we had our second VICTORY! Now, I'm not going to say that we are world beaters but it would suprise me either to see Clinton play West extremely tough. If West doesn't take this game seriously, you never know. Could this be Clintons second win in a row? ROLL Dragons! PROVOL90: you stink! and of course, I mean that in the nicest of ways.
  18. Been traveling some but I haven't missed any games. Its nice getting that second win. I've been close enough to the program to understand and know that the team was improving. To many people judge solely by Wins and Loses. This program is getting better off the field as well. That is very important when trying to build a long lasting product. Thanks for your congrats.
  19. It's been a wonderful season in my books already. This is the first year of the new offense. Me personally, I love it. We've had trouble at times learning it but I believe it will not only improve but it might even pull out some athletes that might have other wise not played football. I loved seeing Ben Ollis and Nick Frazier in at receiver. Ollis has always been sure handed and is a very tough minded competitor. Frazier is only going to get better and faster. Not a bad debut for a freshman. 2 touchdowns and over 100 + yards receiving. Once the nerves went away, I loved what I saw. He not only is fast but he goes and gets the ball. I'm sure Mr. Zach Hood is excited and pleased to have him on the field. The Defense as a whole this year, has been the most consistent part of the team. While a little undersized, the play very hard and give it everything that they have, day in and day out. As for coaching, thanks for changes. Thanks for the committment. Thanks for building a "Team" of young men. I love what you all are doing with the program and really look forward to our future. To the Team: Thanks for a Great year. PS: How about winning a few more this year, just to keep everyone talking about them C-Town boys. Roll Dragoons.....
  20. Dude, might I give you some advice. While I don't think that you will listen, here we go. Life isn't always fair but it is what "you" make of it. If you can look in the mirror, know that you quit (only you know the real reason) and live with it, then so be it. Don't waste time trying to justify it. If quiting the team was a decision based on the fact that you hated Andy more than you loved the game, so be it. Not everyone will agree with you but it doesn't matter. "You" will live with your decision and actions. Not everyone was born to be a football player. I understand that. While I don't like offensive language either, be a man and say something in a one on one conversation. If you were out there, giving it everything you have, the coaches will respect you enough to listen to your concerns. This will be a valuable tool in your future as well. You won't always work with the perfect boss or college professor but if you want to pass a class or keep supporting your family financially, you must be willing to sacrifice yourself sometimes. ITS PART OF LIFE! As for your self proclaimed love for football, let me suggest the movie "RUDY". The kid wasn't the biggest or strongest but he "Loved" the game and his team. He gave all that he had. No, he didn't play on Saturdays or score the winning touchdown but he helped prepare his team for battle each and every week. If you love the football team in Clinton, pat the players on the back, encourage the coaches to do more and quit casting stones. PS: I hate it when I have to get philosophical but I know that we all can do better. Dragons + Maximum Effort = Pride Let's Roll!
  21. Alright, the gloves are coming off. Plain and simple terms for the players, coaches and fans. Go out, kick some butt and shut everyone up. Quit comparing yourself to years past. This is your team and yours only. Stick together and go out there as a "Team" tonight. Pick each other up, play harder than you've ever played before. Hit people harder than you've ever hit someone before. Play with an intensity that we've haven't seen before. That's what will build this team up. I would love to see someone puke on the sidelines because you are totally spent. Wins will come and after the game, everyone and I mean everyone holds their heads up high. As for the Fans, yell loader than ever before. Trade in the gripes for total team loyalty. Don't psycho analyze every move, coach or play call. If they win or lose, judge only on effort. If the players are giving it their best, then they deserve nothing but our best and support. Dragons Roll Tonight and yes, I'll be there in my Orange and Black, supporting my beloved team.
  22. Welcome to the board everyone. Thecallmemiller, I hate to say it but I'm glad you quit. If you had half the heart of some of these kids, Clinton would be a better program. Bashing the coaches ain't helping either. Catlett had a decent team when he started. There wasn't anything about players going to AC, anything about equipment, no mumbling about why the middle school was winning and they weren't. He took a competetive team and ran it into the abyss that we are climbing out of today. Did we mention that the year before Andy took over the program, Clinton had about 25 kids dressing out. Lordy, The Claxton Cowboys Grass Hoppers had more kids dressing out than the High School team. From my perspective, I think Andy sees the bigger picture. He said before the season that he wasn't sure how the wins and loses would come out but that the team would be more entertaining. He has delivered on that promise! He is also self reflecting. He himself said that he wasn't a good offensive co. He basically fired himself and hired someone to improve that situation. The offense has struggled but with a thin crop of talent, Clinton did lose some key individuals. Our main receiver target got hurt during the Catholic scrimmage. Two starting running backs have been hurt. I know thats part of the game but we are rebuilding still. Regardless of what people think, it does take time. Look at it from the other side of the fence. Why is Maryville good year after year. Is it that their extremely lucky to have talent. Nope, their talent was being developed several years ago. That's why every year they seemingly have player after player come in a fill the void left behind. It could take another several years to turn this completely around. On a positive note, the only ones that I really hear placing blame are from the players that quit. This is typical of today's society. Whaaa! I'm telling my mommy on you. You called me a name and said that I stink. SEE YA! is what I think. Be a man, approach your coach in private and ask him to stop. I betting if you were at home playing "Grand Theft Auto" or sending instant messages on "MY Space", I bet then the language wouldn't even phase you. I'm a Christian and personally don't like being cussed at either but its part of the world and my Bible says not to judge. If being called a $@#*($&(@#* is the worst thing to ever happen to me, then I would consider myself lucky. High School is for building life long friendships and I promise you this, the blood, sweat and tears, shed on the football, is where a lot of those friendships will come from. JUST KEEPING IT REAL Mr. Miller. As for the Dragons, believe in your coaching, believe in each other and under the Friday Night Lights, never surrender! Regardless of wins and loses, no one will ever understand what sacrifices you've made. Lastly, I want to challenge each and every one to do a little soul searching this off season. Think about what you can do to make the team better and make yourself better.
  23. Please understand that I'm not saying at the high school level that the O-line isn't important. What I'm saying is that Clinton has struggled keeping some of their talent at the middle school level and getting to show up for the high school team. We have lost players to other schools, players don't want to play or simply put, the ones that do play haven't developed into the difference makers. While I love our team and the kids, fact is, we seem to be missing the impact players that other teams seem to have.
  24. Alright, alright, I said to myself that I wasn't coming back to CoachT but I can't take it anymore. Here are the facts. Clinton Middle School has been pretty good over the past several years. At the middle school level, film, strength conditioning, kicking, blocking schemes, passing and receivers, just to name a few, aren't quite as critical as the High School level. For the most part its run right, run left and defenses aren't near as complex at the middle school level. One kid can somewhat dominate at the middle school level and most of the time its a running back. If there is any truth to what I'm saying then let's look at the Middle school teams of the past. When Clinton Middle school started its run at the local championship, Brandon Davis was the running back. How is he doing at Clinton you ask? He isn't doing anything because he is the running back for 7-0 Coalfield. He's rushed for almost 1000 yards this season with a mear 11 touchdown. We haven't score 11 touchdowns all season. Tyler Sutherd (not sure of the spelling) was the next after Davis and where is he at now. He doesn't play football. Why? My belief is that the Clinton High School doesn't have an identity in football. You've all heard that if you want to play real football, you've got to got to Anderson County. Facts are facts. AC having a down year, may be the best thing to ever happen to Clinton's program. If you are a good player that loves to compete, the decision to play for a good football isn't so obvious now. The new stadium, new equipment (booster club is being led by some really energize people) and the new offensive scheme, should at least tempt some of the better players to suit up every year. Also, with the rest of the Clinton High Schools sports being lack luster, maybe more athletes will chose to put on the pads.
  25. Congrats to all the Halls fans. Provol90, thanks for showing everyone how much class you really have. O'Conner, WOW that was awesome. I just so happened to be on the end of the field where the field goal posts are and it would have been good from 59 yards. By the way, which college will you be playing for? Once again, this game was one of many bitter disappointments. From a Clinton fan, we still have a ways to go but a least these loses are hurting a little bit. Over the last several years, we knew before we ever stepped on to the field that the game was over. At least this year, we have hope. To the Dragons, keep your spirits high and work hard. Brighter things are in our future.
