  1. Let's just say they don't like each other and leave it at that.
  2. Guys, focus on the task at hand which is baseball. There is NO need for Gibbs players to self promote a friend and/or a teammate on these boards. Gibbs is known for letting their play do all the talking whether good or bad. Play with class, honor your teammates by giving your best, and be gracious whether you win or lose. How you play on the field the next couple of weeks will determine what your reward (if any) will be.
  3. Your cousin is not a bad pitcher as he threw mid- 70 velocity but couldn't get his second pitch over for a strike. Good teams will figure that out and wait on the right pitch. It will take time for A-E to develop the talent and confidence to be competitive in this district. The umpires were semi-consistant but it is still early in the season for them also. Don't feel bad about it Turtle, as A-E is improving. By the way, Gibbs beat Morristown East 15-4 yesterday in a day game in front of some of the Morristown East student body. 3 games in less than 24 hours is tough to do for anybody.
  4. Turtle, you didn't miss much in the second game as Gibbs won 12-0 in 3 innings. Skittles started for A-E. A-E is much improved fielding wise. Work is needed in finding pitchers that can throw strikes and learning to hit fastballs.
  5. I would agree with you on this.
  6. It was a close for most of the game with Gibbs. Score was 2-2 going into the bottom of the sixth when Grainger plated 7 (a couple of solid hits, 2 errors by Gibbs, and a blown call by the field umpire). The game could of gone either way until then. Side note: Grainger definitely has a nicer field than before (even though it's not entirely completed). Mound looked a lot higher than the regulation of 10 inches but it will wear down somewhat as it is still relatively new. Pitchers in the mean time will definately need to bend their backs in order not to throw belt high strikes. Orientation of the field is unique too especially if playing on sunny afternoon days (ie .. bring your shades). Will be better when (or if) they decide to put lights in.
  7. Guys, you can trash each other all you want but don't go disrespecting other teams in the process. That "tball" team you are talking about (which Anderson County beat 4-1) has been to the Boro the last 2 years and doesn't disrespect either of your teams.

    ETBCA playday

Just have been emailed that the Karns ETBCA playday has been cancelled due to the weather.
  9. Scrimmage score at Gibbs was 11-6 for 9 innings. I believe Central used 5 different pitchers and Gibbs threw 9 pitchers (1 inning each). The first three Central pitchers were gunned in the 80-82 mph range fairly consistently. Nice crowd for a scrimmage game though. I can't wait to see what the new grandstand will look like when completed.
  10. Correct. He played high school ball at Knoxville Central.
  11. I saw you guys play at UT last year and was impressed with the talent level.
  12. Fortunately enough, I have been to both Farragut and Bearden baseball games in the past couple of years. Crowds come and go depending upon whom you play and the weather. You would be suprised how big crowds can be at other venues in the Knoxville area. I'm not here to bash any players or teams but I hold not one to a higher standard than another. It's called respect. Each day you put your uniform like anyone else and play the game to the best of your ability. Anyone can beat anybody anytime and right now, everybody's record is 0-0.
  13. I'm sorry you really believe that jibberish that East Tennessee baseball revolves around the Farragut and Bearden programs. It just doesn't.
  14. Before everybody screams at the previous post, would you like to rephrase that? There are many quality players and programs around the East Tennessee area.

    ETBCA playday

I haven't seen the schedule but I know Gibbs will scrimmage Hardin Valley twice and Maryville in between.
  16. No problem. Just remember to have some fun with it.
  17. Gibbs has scripted introductions. We use the following: Gibbs Baseball Monologue Back Where I Come From - Kenny Chesney Take Us Out - Theme From Rudy - Opening Introductions The Natural - Soundtrack from the Natural - Visiting Team Introductions Battle of Stirling - Soundtrack from Braveheart - Umpire Meeting The Parachutes - Theme From Air Force One - Gibbs Starter Introductions National Anthem Bagpipes - Top of First Inning Warmup Music during the game can be anything baseball themed, fun country and rock music, and current selections that are upbeat and not rap.
  18. Okay Turtle, you'll get your chance soon. March 16th is when the Eagles will visit Roadrunner country.
  19. Gibbs should be competitive this year but still fairly young with only 8 upperclassmen on the team. Priorites will probably be finding capable replacements up the middle and enough offense to score some runs. Strengths should still be the pitching. The younger players will still need to develop into specific roles. Not much different than last year.
  20. This district is much the same as you know it. It will be between PF, Grainger and GP.

    Undefeated

Going undefeated is always a tough task for anyone. Remember last year when AA-Pigeon Forge came in and beat Farragut at home. There is so much baseball talent scattered around the Knoxville Area and throughout the state that on any given day. David can beat Goliath.
  22. There is no doubt that Austin-East has athletes in their programs but the district you are in is a tough egg to crack currently. You have both Seymour (2007) and Gibbs (2007 & 2008) that have made it to the state tournament recently and have quality teams back. I know that Fulton, Alcoa, and Carter have some quality players in their lineups also. It make take some time for the Roadrunners to turn it around but as we all know anything can happen on the diamond. Best of luck to you!
  23. In AA Baseball, you are probably looking at the following teams in each district of East Tennessee: District 1 - Unicoi County and either Elizabethton or Happy Valley??? District 2 - Pigeon Forge, Grainger County, and maybe Gatlinburg Pittman District 3 - Gibbs and Seymour District 4 - Anderson County and Knoxville Catholic (with Loudon, CAK, and maybe Kingston in the hunt)
  24. If everything goes to plan scheduling wise, Gibbs and Grainger will be still play each other as non conference.
  25. This one is fairly obvious in football. I'd lump them in tiers as follows: Austin-East (3A) / Fulton (4A) Carter (4A) / Gatlinburg-Pittman (3A) Gibbs (4A) / Pigeon Forge (3A) / Union County (4A) The only reason I lump Carter lower than A-E and Fulton is just that they haven't taken the next step in the playoffs consistantly. Gatlinburg-Pittman is coming up from this years 2A and I really don't know how well they will compete in the new district but I believe they are currently above Gibbs/Pigeon Forge/Union County nonetheless.
