  1. Humboldt had some unreal talent last year. Their O-line was the biggest we saw all year. The fullback was like an o-lineman in the backfield. The defense was a pretty tough bunch too (with exception of the secondary). And, let's not forget about Mr. Epperson who WAS apparently "D-1". The Vikings gave us all we could handle at our place. We expect playing another talented Humboldt team in their house to be a challenge, but we will be ready!
  2. The rebels have some good looking players, but they weren't very disciplined. They were talking smack and doing a bunch of extra stuff that will get them penalties on the road. Their QB/LB is a beast but I also heard he is constantly in trouble. Their running game is okay but the passing game is lacking.
  3. The Mustangs don't rebuild...the RELOAD! Giles Co. will offer up some competition this year. The O-line will return experience with Motts, Strickland, Bass, Norwood, and Birdsong. The backs will be the strength of the teams with them Houston boys, Brown, Watson, Newton, and QB Wallace. Expect the Bobcats to put up some points! The defense has plenty of question marks. Another year another defensive coordinator; replacing Dangerfield, Perez, Reynolds, Harney, and all the secondary. Enrique is back to kick...don't know about punter. Still Coach O'Connor will have them ready.
  4. Don't know how you did with Lincoln Co., but you came up short against the bobcats. Giles Co. put Marshall Co. out of the tournament in the 7 on 7 at Lavergne and that was without Bo at QB. Anyway, best of luck to you on the year...we'll see you in the Brickyard game 10.
  5. I heard they scrimmaged Columbia...didn't hear any details.
  6. The Bobcats from Giles County ventured into "The Pit" Friday night and came out victorious 21-12 over Lincoln County. I know scrimmages don't mean a lot but this is the first time we have beaten them in the spring scrimmage that we have done with them the last three years. Offensively, Wallace was too much for the Falcon defense. He threw one touchdown to Derico Brown and scored another on a QB sneak. Cory Houston had the first score of the night in the first quarter...he looked quick all night. The offensive line will need to improve but as the night went on Tobias Houston punished the Falcon defense. Defensively, the Bobcats looked good early. The Falcons took several possesions to get a first down. The D-line gave up little room for the Falcon runners and Joey Dienye, Patrick Timms, Josh Brewer, and Russ Cobb got after the quarterback. Cody Davis had an interception to stop a Lincoln County drive, but the secondary still looked a little suspect giving up two passing touchdowns. Kicker Enrique Viallata made all three extra points but came up way short on a 47yd field goal. Lincoln County's QB is a good looking player (6'3"), but he has limited targets to throw to. Their offensive line and running backs are not as strong as they normally are. The LB (#29) played well at times including several QB pressures, but the defense is not as good as normally is either. Could be a down year for out neighbors in Lincoln County.
  7. What's up Viking fans and players? I hear you have a new Head Coach, you lost some big seniors from last year's team, and you had a disappointing year last year. How are things looking for 2008?
  8. I hate to say it... but Marshall Co. is getting better. They were much improved on defense this year. We are glad to see Donta and Stud gone... they were ballers. We'll see you in the BrickYard!
  9. Hunter "Luigi" Newton, played quarterback as a freshmen and is very smart. He could run the offense if needed, but the passing game would be very limited. He is much better capable of making contributions at the receiver position where he does a great job of running routes and catching the ball. Bo has gotten much faster and has run consistently in the 4.8s with some 4.7s. He rushed for 350yds last year with his speed around a 5.0...he is a capable runner. He is probably not a true "Dual-threat" QB, but he execute the veer effectively. His throwing ability is what sets him apart. His arm is very strong. I think he won the long throw competition at the Furman QB camp last year when he was 14.
  10. Lipscomb is the defending state champs...give them their props. Them Bobcats from Giles Co. only region losses the past two years have been to the Mustangs! I hate to say it but Marshall Co. has gotten better under their new Coach. Cheatham is always tough. Page is getting better.
  11. All-Region players returning include: RB Cory Houston, LB D. Turner, QB Bo Wallace, OL Kyle Motts, RB Tobias Houston, OL Brad Strickland, and WR Rico Brown. The offense should continue to score points in bunches as it did scoring 35 or more in half of the games last year. WR should be a cause for concern without the deep threats of Aundra McElroy and Josh Perez. However, the offensive line should be improved and the running backs (aka "The Houstons" aka "Thunder & Lightning") will be ready to carry the rock. The defense loses a huge force in the middle of the defensive line, Kendall "Mookie" Dangerfield. Kendall has a chance to start at MTSU next year...he is that good. They also lose the heart of the team and the guy that gave opposing offenses fits...Quon Reynolds. Don't find many small guys that small (140 lbs) that can be impact players at linebacker! Gone from the secondary is a great athlete in Josh Perez. He will get to continue his playing at Tennessee Tech next year. How does the defense recover from these losses? D-line - Junior Torrell Boykins is a mini-"Mookie". He benches and cleans over 300lbs. Dimayo Birdsong also saw lots of playing time on the D-line last year. Patrick "Crazy Train" Timms is also very strong and plays with a lot of effort. Joey "The Freak" Dienye has potential at end as well. LB - D. Turner is a great LB that lead the team in tackles last year. Russ Cobb, brother of MTSU player Jerry, played in every game last year. Junior William Reynolds saw some action last year too and has potential. DB - Your guess is as good as mine. Here are some possibilities: Rico Brown, Bo Wallace, Cory Houston, Shawn Simmons, Alan Campbell, Kanden Kimbrough, Nick Bockoven, Hunter Newton, Tyler Watson, Josh Smith, Raheem Holt, Cody Davis, Maurice Inmann.... Coach O'Connor is a worker...the Bobcats will be okay. The Bobcats have hosted playoff games his first two years as head coach with the only region losses being to David Lipscomb. I'll be surprised if they don't make the playoffs.
  12. Schuman's NUC was held Saturday at BGA. This combine is a showcase for current freshmen and sophomores. Athletes were tested in the 40, vertical, shuttle, broad jump, and bench reps. They they went onto the field to do some drill work and compete in 1 on 1's. Giles County was well represented with four guys receiving awards: 1. Tobias Houston - MVP runningback 2. Derico Brown - MVP wide receiver 3. Bo Wallace - leadership award 4. Josh Smith - Combine King Also, offensive lineman Josh Norwood had a good showing but didn't win because he was weak in the bench reps test.
  13. As you can see, we get after it in the weight room. Tobias, Patrick "Crazy Train" Timms, and Torrell Boykins are BEASTS! Just about every team had one real strong guy. The guy from Richland benching 345 was impressive.
  14. Giles County, Lincoln County, Marshall County, Lawrence County, Mt, Pleasant, Cornersville High School and Richland High School met for a pre-season weight lifting competition hosted by the Bobcats of Giles County. 15. Everything from GC is dispicable and laughable? Is the reason that Marshall County has been DOMINATED by Giles County in every sport except baseball in the past couple of years because that everyone has been laughing too hard to know they were losing? I mean Marshall County vandalizes our school with a giant sign over the gym then LOSES, then Giles County makes an ironic run through and the Marshall County fans are automatically darling saints who are being mistreated. COME ON! The hate runs DEEP on both sides. I don't think that Marshall County's fans are that great when most of them leave on senior night before the fourth quarter. The giles county fans have come to EVERY game, near and far. They were tail-gating at Montgomery Central and they'll be tail-gating the basketball games as well. Sure, the fans might say some less than classy stuff during the games, but you have to expect that in a rivalry game. Oh well, the hate will go on. MARSHALL COUNTY BETTER GET READY FOR THE MOB COME BASKETBALL SEASON!
  16. The person who started this topic is the biggest hypocrite I've ever heard. The classiest fans in the world of course live in Marshall County, that's why they have to start a topic on Coacht.com to down a team that they didn't beat. I guess they are just more than a little bitter about losing to their hated rivals two years in a row. Nobody from Giles County put up a thread saying haha we beat Marshall, and the fact that you have to celebrate a team getting beat when you can't do it yourself is of prime example of cowardice. Congratulations to David Lipscomb, they are the toughest team in the western bracket and I'm going to predict them and Catholic will square off in Murfreesboro. As for Marshall County, I guess we will see you during basketball season and have fun playing a TOUGH Giles County bunch in that sport as well. Congrats to all Region 5 teams on another competitive season and GO MUSTANGS!!
  17. Bolivar Central leaves their West Tennessee home to come to Pulaski to square off with Giles County in a repeat game from last year. The Cats have alot of momentum after beating a good bunch from Marshall County. WHo do you think wins?
  18. THe Bobcats are number 2 and will be hosting Bolivar Central, a similar situation to last year. Good luck to all region 5 teams
  19. 29-8. This game was the most complete game played by the Bobcats this season. They utterly dominated MC on both sides of the ball for most of the game, MC didn't get a first down till late in the second half i don't hink. Good Job Bobcats!! Let's get ready to bring it back to the Yard for Bolivar.
  20. The Giles County Bobcats have had one awesome week of practice and are ready to go. This is as big a highschool game as you can get in ths area. Both these teams HATE each other. With Lawrence County, it's more of a friendly rivalry, but with Marshall County, you don't want to win, you want to SMASH them if you can. This game is going to come down to pure GRIT, who wants it more? Just a good ole fashioned knock down drag out. This is going to be a 4 QUARTER GAME! Just about who's tougher than who in this game. If you're a player, you better tighten up that chinstrap. If you're a fan, you better get your popcorn ready.
  21. That's a really disrespectful thing to do but I don't think it really matters what they did BEFORE the game, just what they did DURING the game, and..that wasn't much.
  22. The Giles County Bobcats travel to hostile territory in Lewisburg to throw down with Marshall County. Both teams will be playing for homefield advantage and a number 2 seed behind Lipscomb. GC comes off a big win against Creekwood and MC comes off a loss to David Lipscomb. Who wins this dog fight and why?
  23. Bo Wallace threw for about 300 yards last night thanks to great protection from his O line. Including one 70 yard bomb to Derico Brown. That pass was the most perfect pass I've ever seen. Hit Rico perfectly in his stride for a big TD on a third and long. The Giles County D also stepped up in a BIG way. They combined for about 8 sacks and I don't know if they if they got more than 1 first down in the first half. Kendall Dangerfield and Torrell Harney were in that QB's face all night. Great pass rush. I would also like to extend a big congrats to David Lipscomb.
  24. from 8-1:30 and they study and do homework at home. simple answer
  25. Can we PLEASE stop the talk about the Page game, if you want to discuss that game, then there's another board for that specific purpose. Let's get back to Lipscomb and GC
