  1. I feel better now! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  2. At the William Blount / Campbell Co. game, the officiating was very tight. Plus, as I've posted in another thread, the head official was trying to showboat with all of his theatrics when he announced the call to the fans/pressbox. WB committed several mistakes and the officials were correct with those calls, but they flat over-reffed the game. They called personal fouls at the drop of a hat (or flag, as it were). I've heard lots of people complain about that game.
  3. I've got a few questions for all you TSSAA gurus. Wouldn't any action by the TSSAA be considered "public" and therefore open to anyone to read/interpret? Are these sorts of decisions subject to Tennessee's "Sunshine Law" wherein all meetings have to be open to the public? Should the TSSAA publish their decisions onto their website?
  4. How could you sue the TSSAA? I would think that their rules are watertight.
  5. You might go to the Farragut games, but based on your poor grammar, I hope you're not a product of their fine educational system. You either completely misread my post or have trouble understanding simple English. Your male cheerleader (and others) were so busy shouting "You can't stop him" that I never once heard the cheerleaders support the rest of the team. If you guys are so concerned about supporting all of your players, I would think that saner minds would insist that the other hard-working lads get recognized, too, and not have cheerleaders single out one player.
  6. So I guess there goes my apology! Dagnabbit, back to my cipherin' and goesintos. Jethro
  7. Yeah, but apparently he started in week 4
  8. What about the 10 other guys on the team? How sportsmanlike is it when you single out one person when there are 10 others on the field with him, plus probably 60+ who have been to every practice, every scrimmage, and every game?
  9. As a grad of the second class at WB, I would like to thank the entire Coaching Staff for what they have done with WB. Coach Meadows usually gets all the credit but lets not forget Coach Garner, Emert, and all the others. I've watched WB closely for the last 4 years or so. I've lived through the 3-7 season, through some games that were heartbreakers, and some that just left me boggled as to how we pulled it out. This year is different though ... this year, we have heart and believe that we can win. From the very first game, the attitude in south Blount Co. has been different. Our whole community has come alive. I think of all those little PeeWees and Midgets that are growing up wanting to be a TJ or a Darren or a Tyler or a Grey or a Cole or a Don or any other of the names that get called out every Friday night. We are at the cusp of having a program where the kids stay in the William Blount school district and don't transfer here and yon; instead they will want to play for the mighty Govs. The team with heart and that believes. Win or lose this Friday ... it doesn't really matter. The boys, no, the Men, have taught us all to have confidence and that is what is important. Thanks coaches, players, and fans! And special thanks to the best-looking cheerleaders in the world! PS: Throw some more mini-footballs toward the 50 yard line fans!
  10. I believe it was on the DB vs. Farragut thread. Ask DogBite. He seems to know.
  11. Then you owe me an apology. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> You jumped in and said "Guaranteed" that OR had to beat DB before WB got the third round home game.
  12. That's one of the most stupid analogies I've ever seen. I'll be next in line behind two state champs any day.
  13. How do you figure? Not one post on this board is by the WB team, just some of our fans. I'd say that WB knows exactly who they will be facing. With the teams that we've faced, we haven't actually had many games (except for the last several easy games) where we didn't go into the game knowing we would have to battle.
  14. I looked over the TSSAA rules and I think that this doesn't hold water, IF he moved residences out of one school's territory and into the current school's territory. I know there is a Grace Baptist Academy near Chattanooga. If he moved from there, then there is no question that he changed outside of one school territory and into another. There is a Grace Baptist in Knoxville (not sure if they have a football team). If this is the one, then he might have been in the same school territory at Farragut and thus not have a bona fide change of residence.
  15. That was the old rule. The rule changed to include inadvertent. Here is a link that I found: http://football.refs.org/rules/NFrules2000pr.html Here are the pertinent parts: "The football committee of 2000 ... has revisited the safety factor dealing with head contact. The committee approved a two-tiered face mask penalty (5 and 15 yards) and then voted to make illegal head contact the point of emphasis to be used during the 2000 rules interpretation meetings with coaches and officials." With an addition to Rule 9-4-2h Penalty, if a player merely grasps an opponent's face mask, a 5-yard penalty will be invoked. Should the player twist, turn or pull the face mask or helmet opening, a 15-yard penalty will be invoked. "After two years of experimenting with this proposed rule change, it was reported that more penalties were called and this has been attributed to the fact that officials were more inclined to penalize any grasping if they could utilize the 5-yard option," Jones said. "The committee felt that it had to reduce actions around the head and neck that are always safety concerns."
  16. That might be who they are talking about. Apparently he might have stretched the truth to the TSSAA. That is what the other poster was alluding too. I'm not sure what you can stretch, other than maybe home address. It'd be a shame if he filled out the forms improperly or misrepresented himself.
  17. There has been a poster on another thread who has posted twice about Farragut using an ineligible player this season. Seems the Admiral senior played last year for another school and didn't sit out. Apparently he may have given some false information to the coach/team. First, this is just a rumor. Is there any truth? If it is true, what happens next? Forfeits, automatic disqualification from the playoffs, etc. I know the TSSAA rules are complex, and I'm not sure how you figure eligibility rules out. Surely this would have been vetted out before the playoffs began.
  18. For the record, this thread is not so much about refs throwing games, it is about refs trying to be the center of attention. Acting arrogant when they make calls; signaling with a lot of melodrama, that sort of stuff.
  19. Is there any truth to the story that the Bearden Coach allowed a player to play last week against Ooltewah who was in a bit of legal trouble last week? Seems that one of the players got into some trouble and still got to play. Is this a rumor or is it true?
  20. I for one think your coach should go ahead and let the TSSAA know now. It will take them a week or more to rule on it (if not even longer). If they forfeit their games, they DB would win by default. I have to think that this is more smoke than fire.
  21. OwlFanatic, Don't leave completely. I'd like some more of your wit and wisdom on some of the WB threads. Post every once in a while!
  22. Guess we've figured out who Heather Harrington is! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  23. I'm a WB fan, so I've seen both teams. DB has their work cut out for them .... you have to stop Sterling. He is elusive, he twists and turns, he powers through your line. It seemed like our linebackers were playing so tight in on him, that we game up some big passes. He is the real deal. On the flip side, Farragut is beatable. Somehow McMinn Co. did it during the regular season. Not sure how they did, but understand that Farragut made some mistakes. Also, Ooltewah played toe-to-toe with them. WB lost by 1 on a 2-point conversion at the end of the game. The can fall, but it will take a near-perfect game. When Farragut played WB, we hurt their starting QB (I think he was #10). They put in their backup or co-quarterback, whichever he is, and he was good, too. We were hoping we would break their rhythm. Didn't seem to affect their team too much. If the right one won't get you, the left one will. From what I understand, DB, you have come a long way since the WB/DB matchup. If you guys have improved from what I saw, you can definitely hang with them. If I was to go out on a limb, I would think this would be a 7-point win for Farragut (due mainly to home-field advantange) for the Admirals. That is certainly within striking distance. Watch your turnovers and keep your offense on the field. Their defense has been the weak link. They've given up a lot of points, just check their opponent's scores. They just happen to have a potent offense that can keep up and outscore the points that their defense gives up. Oh, and if you see the male cheerleader, stuff a sock in his megaphone. His chants of "You can't stop him" are obnoxious and unsportsmanlike. Never seen cheerleaders root for a single person before. Kinda seems demeaning to the 10 other offensive players on the field.
  24. At the William Blount / Campbell Co. game last night, the head ref was one of those showboat refs who had to be flamboyant in every call. He was deliberate and took away from the game. It was like he was trying to be the center of attention. One of the other refs should've thrown a flag on him for excess celebration or unsportsmanlike conduct or something. It was obnoxious to say the least. There are a few crews in 5A Region 1 and 2 who seem to have an attitude. Does anyone else think the refs need to make their calls in a more subdued fashion without using such melodrama? If players can't get in other people's faces, why can the refs tick off half the fans at a ballgame?
