  1. Both I believe went to a JUCO in Mississippi together. They are both homebody's and came back to Hartsville. Typically you will find them nowadays in a hayfield and you may even catch them on a Friday night at the Creekbank.
  2. TC 97 team was special. They didnt have a single standout as they were all studs! Honestly, it would have been hard pressed to find a team in the state to beat them. I still remember seeing Scruggs run down the tail back from the back side DE spot for a loss. For those that dont know, Mr. Scruggs played at 6'4 275ish range as a guess. He may have been heavier. The only problem with the stats previously stated, they starters typically only played 2 quarters. And someone mentioned them punting to Monterey on 1st down, truth i saw it.
  3. Thank you sir. Blessed for sure! Trying to keep Gross and Denning straight at work. Them Westmoreland boys are something else. Good dudes!
  4. Been awhile since the ole MVP made an appearance on the boards. Read some here and there over this year but thought I'd chime in. This game will be a war at the line of scrimmage. The home squad has some monsters that will be hard to move and look like they will require some double team blocks. That opens the door for one on one match-ups between the ball carrier and LBs/DBs. Then when Hampton has the ball, its going to be tough to hold that line and keep the LBs clean and free to roam. Bottom line, and I believe Coach Satt said this years ago, this game comes down to blocking and tackling. The team that does that best goes for the Gold. Now for some none relevant memories of the '05 game. "Blue 3" was the call of the first play and I vividly remember seeing Dillehay look the Cover 3 safety off my way, then hit Harper (whose son will make his name known come Friday) in stride up the left hash mark. It was over from there. On 1 particular drive we ran 32 and 38 knock (off tackle with a kickout block by a FB or HB) probably 6, 7 maybe 8 times in a row. No Huddle calling the play out loud at the line. We changed the formation and mixed in some motion but it was the same play. After a couple of times the LBs started pointing out where we were running it. Boom there's 6 yards. Wam another 7. Bam ill take 8. Thank you mam for 9 more. Hard nosed stop it if you can football. That night we were playing for more than a opportunity to go to the ship but also for a classmate. Our starting Center, Harris, had torn his ACL the week before and we knew he could only play once more before surgery and we wanted that game to be for the Ball! Ill never forget assisting on the last tackle and rolling on top of McGowan as the final horn sounded and yelling "We Going to the Ship BABY!" Special group of guys for sure and I'm not afraid to say I love each one of them. But in all honesty though, We dont hold a candle stick to that '97 team, Wanna talk about some dudes! But that's a "debate" (not really) that's for another time and place. For the kids involved Friday Night, Cherish the Moments! Enjoy your teammates. Be focused but take those mental pictures and stash them away. They will mean something in the future. Best of luck, safe travels to all and praying for no injuries for either team! Happy Thanksgiving!
  5. I hate to hear this. Praying for their family and friends.
  6. The SC principal is a smart man, but I'm not bias or anything. Getting back to his Roots! These 2 TOWNS need to play every year. Just glad they finally SATT down to discuss this DYER situation.
  7. Everyone needs to pump the breaks on saying we should be in the spread more. I agree that their defense does need to be spread out. But when we went to the spread, everyone knew we were throwing the ball and all Meigs was trying to do was keep the ball in front of them and not give up the deep ball. So all the stop routes to #10 were always open. Then we were able to run the trap successfully because they were expecting the pass as well. Can Rankins throw the ball? Yes. Is he a QB? No. Do we have enough athletes to run the spread? Maybe. That’s questionable. But you can’t run 2 different offenses and be great at both. The WingT got us here but we just ran into a bigger, stronger team. I never heard anyone say we needed to be in the spread the last 2 weeks when we were dominating the line of scrimmage. If we ran the spread all year we wouldn’t have made it as far as we did. With all that being said, I had much rather us run the spread like we were from 2000-2005 than in the WingT. But our personnel doesn’t fit that style nor do we have the horses to do so. But I definitely do not want to see a spread team like I saw at the end of the game tonight. It’s not a pretty sight trying to do something you aren’t accustom to do doing and can’t do. Although we had no choice but to go to the spread with the amount of time remaining. I just wish we wouldn’t have got into the position where we had no choice but to do it. That’s not how we are built. Congrats to Meigs. #34 was the difference maker.
  8. Congrats to Meigs! Safe travels to all and go get the Tide next week. TC players need to keep their heads up. You left it on the field and but up a fight until the end. Sadly only 1 team can celebrate the way every team wants too and plays too every year. Football is a cruel and vicious game but it closely resembles life in general and playing it will make you a better person. I know this hurts, it hurts me, but use that hurt to continue to strive for greatness. If your a Sr. use it as motivation as you enter the next chapter of life, and for the underclassman use it as a springboard for the off-season. You guys showed tonight you were Yellow Jackets and this one here is proud to call you a brother! “Don’t Say If You Don’t Meant, I’m a Jacket I’m a Jacket, I’m here to stay, Ain’t nobody gonna run me away!”
  9. Can’t disagree. I honestly didn’t see the formation. Just tried to explain the ruling and learn some peeps some official knowledge!
  10. Say it ain’t so Coach.... I think Reynard and KingoftheNorth should be hired myself. Would at least make the sideline entertaining during the games watching these two argue while they try to rebuild the program.
  11. H2O fans complaining about the 2 penalties. From my position I couldn’t see the blindside block. Was for sure thankful for it but you all May have a case. So complain away. But the 2nd was an illegal procedure. I could not see it but I believe someone said the tackle was lined up too deep. That means you only had 6 men on the line of scrimmage when 7 are required. This is a live ball foul and a flag is thrown at the snap. If there is a false start, that’s a pre-snap penalty and we wouldn’t have a play. Then as for the no call on the deep pass. That i did see as it happened right in from on me. TC kid played the ball and had his back to the WR if I remember correctly. All in all, the officials basically stayed out of the game. I mean they only had 3 flags. I saw holds on both sides but they let them go.
  12. I’ve reached out to both but finding time between work and family to go and search the info is scarce. Mrs. MVP keeps this dude business with home projects quite often. But yes if you happen to have any of these years and could send a picture my way, I’d greatly appreciate it. If I can ever get the whole landscape put together, I plan to turn my file over to the board of education so the can put it to their website.
  13. Hicks is to be evaluated Monday morning I believe. The TC offense has become very versatile with them playing 3 different qbs depending on the situation. He was one of those. When he isn’t qb he is split wide or lined up at tailback. He is also a CB. If he is unable to go, it will hurt but at this point of the season it’s next man up or go home. He went down in the 1st last night and his backups played well. Just hoping this senior gets the opportunity to suit up again. We shall see.
  14. Cheese has the info however i think most is in pen and paper. I’ve got him sending me this years stuff but wish I’d done with prior and I’m putting it into the computer. I know you have a program now as well that will save it. Going back and gathering this data would be a full time job. Maybe one day. My focus has been on team records and opponents for every season as a start. That’s been a goose chance in itself. TC started a program in 1909 and these are the years I’m missing info on. If you have a yearbook from any of these years that contains a schedule and scores, I’d love for you to hit me up. If the year isn’t listed, I have got the info already. Player stats will be an even bigger challenge.
  15. Great game! Hats off to Watertown. Much respect. They have no reason to hang their heads. Malone had 10 catches for 132 and 2 tds. Very impressive although I think TC played too soft on him. The calls to throw the ball 4 times when you have 1st and goal from the 9 was a head scratcher for sure. But in the end, TC found a way to Pound the Rock!
  16. Croz, Friendship prolly paid for that one as well. I actually think they beat us that game. Also was probably a bye week for Metro. I hope your Boys pull it out tonight though. Ill be watching for score updates.
  17. I just do my part and send it to them. Not sure why he hasnt been on there. May just be focused on trying to stop the Mighty Purple Tigers. I do want to say that Coach Webster is a fine man and the boys appreciate his accepting of an interview. dude you have no idea. Thats the longest one yet and yes a mouth full of words. 2 and a half page script on that one.
  18. As well as TV coverage. I get DTC wanting to "spread" their coverage by going to Gordy. However, (2 things) 1. I dont think Gordy will be able to play 4 qrts with the Pirates. Trust me, i hope the Smith Co boys prove me wrong and win it all but South Pitt is tough. I see them pulling away in the 2nd half. 2. Who the heck wants to watch McCallie and BA? I think MYTV30 got paid for that game. Trousdale Co. @ Watertown for the 3rd Year in a row in the Quarterfinals where the last 5 ballgames have combined for a 78-74 score with Watertown winning 3 and TC 2. Its a Region Championship Re-match and if your remove the 2 hick towns from equation and throw the stats on any exec's table, his gonna say, we are putting that game on TV. But yet we little 2A pee winkle schools get no respect. O Well, more listeners for Cheese and @TCRadio. (Do your plug here bud!)
  19. Guys the Podcast is finally posted. Give it a listen. In the Episode you will here: BCB-MVPs By the Numbers John talks with Coach Webster.
  20. From the man himself.... "Tell them I'm saving lives and replacing joints all morning but will grace them later on!" This is going to get interesting! Can't wait!
  21. He is still around. Just doesn't spend much time on the T these days. Great guy!
  22. That dude could still be here with another account. you never know with that cat. he is good entertainment. My guess, him and Roy Dillard are out chasing chickens somewhere on John Dutton's Ranch.
