You would have lost the farm. I was there in the fall of '04, which was my sons freshman year playing for Benny Hammonds. It began the week before the 2nd round playoff game with Rockwood. It had rained considerably the week of the first round playoff victory against Wartburg and during that first round contest the field was pretty much loosened and worked up. Then a few days before the 2nd round Rockwood game it rained heavily and after the first quarter of that game the field was a total quagmire. As it turned out, it ended up hurting GP more than Rockwood as our QB fumbled(untouched) the(muddy) ball inside the ten yard line late in the game as GP was going in for an apparent go ahead touchdown in what turned out to be a 10-5 victory for Rockwood. My son said the team feels very good about their preparations this week for Rockwood and he also said that it appears that the team has benefitted greatly from the previous open date week. I firmly believe GP will play with a sense of purpose. One other thing, I do not know of a better MAN and FOOTBALL COACH than Benny Hammonds. I hope to hear the crowd chanting at the conclusion, " We Are....GP! Regards

What will make this team better than last years is if they can advance well into the playoffs. This team is definitely more balanced than last years and they have played a slightly tougher schedule. GP will win tommorrow night by controlling the clock and keeping turnovers to a bare minimum. Eagle is right on about the GP tradition. Tradition means one heck of alot in a big game environment when everthing is on the line. Bulldog has been there and done that and I expect it will continue. I do think that CG has a fantastic offense for TN high school football. I think GP's defense is better than CG's and we all know what they say about defense and championships. I hope Ogle has better touch on his deep ball. He has been very good on intermediate passes but has under/over thrown the deepball frequently. Its almost here and I am looking forward to it. Regards

Scott Meadows was at Jeff. Co. about 15 minutes. Marty Euveraud is gone. Jeff Co. is starting to feel good about their latest coach. Yes Jeff won only one title , but played for several. Lee did not make that statement to boosters, but to some fellow coaches and friends. And time will prove that PF is only a stopping off point for Lee. If Lee would have had just a little HC experience the HC job at Jeff Co. would have been his for the taking. He will not be at PF very long. Probably three maybe four years max. His goal is to get to a program where he can compete for state titles. Whether he can reach that goal is yet to be determined. It cannot be reached at PF. Just not enough athletes in Sevier Co. AA and AAA programs. Regards

IN MY OPINION; Seymour will name the score. PF is about like last years team. PF will win two games this year, both single A teams. Cosby (just bearly 7-0) and Hancock county( worst team in state, ranked 328 out of 328 football participating high schools in Tennessee) If last years coach would have scheduled these two schools he would not have went 0-10. PF has a just slightly better defense and a little worse offense than in '06. Lee Hammonds applied for the HC job in Jefferson County in '06 and remarked that he felt like he might be able to win a state title there. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

For those fans in Region 1 2A, who do you think the top 3 will be in the conference? 1-GP 2-South Greene 3-Happy Valley 1,2, or 3 could easily be switched this year. GP is under a new Junior QB(T.Ogle). He looked a little shaky last year passing. GP's ground game could even be better than last years(Dodgen) with M.Pittser and B. Dyer combining to make a very strong duo, and returning many linemen on both sides of the trenches. C.Young could be the deep threat for GP this year and he should anchor a pretty good secondary. Young is a very hard hitter and could be up for post season honors along with M.Robertson(LB), B.Dyer( LB&RB), B.Mullins(OL&DL), M.Dodig(OL&DL),G.Carr(OL&DL), Z.Sutton(DE), and C. Nichols(TE). This could be GP's best group of seniors in several years, but they will have to prove it on the field. GP will play in week 0(Aug.24) for the first time ever and catch a open date in week 10(Nov.2) giving them the week off before playoffs. Could help by giving them some time to heal up and rest or could hurt by being idle. Time will tell. Spring practice started today at GP. Will advise of a upcoming scrimmage. QB and RB Dodgen graduate, lose a linemen or two, but most of the team core returns with a very good senior class(most of the starters in '07). 07' QB has some game experience and GP will have a very strong ground game again. Who is your team Red Chief?

Gatlinburg-Pittman 42 Midway Green Peas 7 GP TOYS with Midway in preparation for the playoffs. It was a good workout for GP, but Midway never offered but TOKEN opposition. GP's Dusty Dodgen apparantly has set a new rushing record for the Highlanders with over 1500 yards in 10 games. Hope the boys from midway can find their way home. Drive safely.

GP played Oliver Springs the first game of the season. GP has gotten ALOT better since then and Oliver Springs has gotten ALOT worse. I went to the Alcoa/GP game at Alcoa last year and met alot of good Alcoa people before the game, but little pricks like you are what give schools bad publicity. Regards

Actually Region 8-2A is the weakest region. They have a total of 18 victories amongst 7 teams, while Region 1 has 23. LOW TIDE !

What will your excuse be shocker if GP wins? Midway has a fine team that plays physical and is well coached. They have a very good RB in Ray Robinson whom I am told is a powerful runner and he is complimented by their QB who is also a very good elusive runner. According to Sonny Moore's Power rating of TN high school football, GP is a 4 point favorite. I think that speaks of how these two teams are closely matched. GP is also a physical team and realizes that Midway stands between them and a undefeated regular season. GP is not taking Midway lightly and highly respects Midways power running game. I believe that GP has the edge offensively and are averaging over 44 points per game, while Midway averages 28 points per game. I think this might not be a real shoot out because both teams like to run and play sound defense, thus that could set the stage for a 28-24 type ball game. In GP's favor of course! Regards

GP has only had 2-3 games this year that one might call easy. The rest have been battles for the most part. Benny Hammonds does not let his team think too highly of themselves and they have nothing but respect for CG. I believe I stated in the first post on this topic that CG plays GP well. With that being said, it will be very interesting to see how GP's secondary plays against CG's 6'7" QB. I have heard that he is really beginning to grasp the CG offense and that he spreads the ball around and especially likes to throw to his backs. I am sure he sees the field well. Gp must get pressure on him to be successful. Regards

Neither have I Wyo. Could be tigerballs is right as I am not a Bramlett expert. I guess we could ask Larry Cannon(fled to VA) as Bramlett is supposedly his boy. Any way, like I said earlier, too much was made about PF before they ever played their first down of ball under their new mentor. I personally think the program will be irrepairable set back if they go 0-10. Next year will be interesting to say the least with Coach (Donald{your fired!}Trump) Schrandt peering over Bramlett's shoulder.

As expected, GP handled a outmanned West Greene team Friday at Hammonds Field. CG beat North Greene by a large margin. CG has scored 100 points in its past two games after getting off to a slow start offensively. GP pounds the ball and occasionally throws with much success. GP has played alot of youth this year due to comfortable margins of victory in many games. GP's secondary has really come alive(Chase Young had two picks vs. WG and I believe Taylor Ogle had one). For the year as a team, they are one of the better teams in E.TN as far as interceptions. GP is averaging over 44 points per game offensively and giving up about 16 points per game defensively. According to Earl Nall's prep performance rating, GP is a heavy favorite in this Claiborne County contest, but CG seems to play GP very well at CG. They had a big victory at GP last year, and the ball can bounce very strangely on any given night. How do others see this tilt and lets get some team info from the CG faithful. Regards.

His only season at Tipton-Rosemark was 2005 not 2004.You need to get your facts straight.

OK fellas, lets be nice. Let's remember how low we felt last year when we were stinking up the field. Let's not bring any bad luck (i.e. injuries etc.) by being unkind to a outmanned opponent. With that being said, Benny needs to keep our boys fine tuned this week and not get complacent which you can count on him doing. Our defense has played better than we did last week at SG. We became somewhat undisciplined in the secondary and that cost us a couple of td's. I think we miss Eric Hutchinson's leadership at FS. I hope he will be back for Midway. I thought Chase Young's diving interception was one of the better plays in the secondary this year and Dusty Dodgen just continues to have one fine game after another running. The South Greene game was by far the most physical game of the year with both sides laying out some mean licks. Matt Robertson clearly has the hit of the year so far for his devastating lick he made on SG's QB Marc Wright late in the fourth. I was beginning to get concerned for the boy as he laid still for some time. It was a clean shot that Wright had no idea that was coming. I wish that J. Jester was more of a team player as Coach chewed his tail up one side and down the other for poor play(unsportsmanlike, unneccesary blocks in the back, and uncooperative attitude.) He has great size, decent speed, but just thinks alot of himself. He could really be a force for GP if he could just get his heart into it. They will need every players full potential if we are going to make a run in the playoffs. Here's hoping for a injury free, good sportsmanship game and hopefully the younger boys will get some meaningful playing time in the second half. Regards.

Pigeon Forge played its first season in 2001. This is their sixth (6) season. You can search this information yourself at www.hsfdatabase.com ,this is a database that list Tennessee H.S. football historical data. There have been several folks talk about various reasons why past coaches have been dismissed, (i.e. coach so and so said bad words and wasn't a good person) that is nothing but misinformed heresay. Coach Cross and Ryan were both dismissed by Principal Perry Schrandt because Schrandt felt like P.F. was not winning enough games. That is the bottom line. In spite of what you may have been told, the winning percentage is why these two coaches were fired. I remember in the summer of 2003 "Coach Schrandt" was talking about the possibility of going ahead and moving up to 4A football classification because the new PF high was growing so much and would meet 4A enrollment before too long. Can you imagine what this would have been like for the Tigers if COACH Schrandt would have elected to do this! PF has not gotten close to 4A classification enrollment numbers yet. PF football under "Coach Schrandt" will always struggle until he steps aside as principal. In my opinion, there was entirely too much made of the PF football team this summer in the Mountain Press before PF ever played a game. All the rage was Coach Bramlett and the spread and how wonderful this team was going to become. Folks, Coach Bramlett's record at Rosemark was poor at best(losing). In my opinion he made a terrible mistake by taking a great running back in Brandon Guidry(1000+ yards) and making him just a slightly above average component of this team. He should have built his spread offense around Guidry(running) and Paul Harper(throwing). (See Urban Meyer at Florida). In High School you build your offense around the type of talent you have, not the other way around. I hope in time that Coach Bramlett will be successful at PF , but I am sure he will not be given time. These statements are my opinion. Good Luck Tigers against Seymour. I hope you kick their tails.
