  1. This is a regular Pittsburgh Pirate tryout camp run by the scouts of the Pirates. There is no cost other than the gas to get to the stadium. My oldest son attend 3 or 4 of Jack Powells camps over the years in Clarksville and Nashville. You will run the 60 yard dash, take infield and batting practice. The pitchers will get to throw to the batters after they have been timed on the gun. The camp starts at 9:00 and usually runs till about 2:00 unless there are alot of players that show up. Go and have fun.
  2. Clarksville Rossview and Mt.Juiet play tonight and the winner plays Dickson County later in the week.
  3. After seven years following District 10-AAA baseball games I wanted to congratulate Clarksville Rossview and Dickson County for the outstanding play during the district tournament and wish them well in the regional. Coach Jason Rice at Rossview and Coach Shelby Rye at Dickson are class acts and will represent our district well. They both had there clubs playing there best at the right time. The Game between Dickson County and Henry County was one of the craziest games I have ever witnessed in my long years of baseball. It had everything that could possibly happen during a four hour 8 inning baseball game. Baseball is a game of inches and that was proved out in the eighth inning twice or Henry County would have pulled it out. If anyone knows all the names on the 10AAA all-district team please post them!
  4. Marquis Dumas (Catcher) Henry County High School signs with Muscle Shoals Junior College in Alabama. He is batting .349 and has an on base % over 600. He has a great arm and is an outstanding reciever behind the plate.
  5. Patriot4: Thanks! The playing field at Henry County is second to none thanks to Mark and Karonel but we are in the middle of building new dugouts and the outside area of the field needs alot of work. They are also building a new girls softball field next to the baseball field, so it is not very pretty outside the actual field. Give us one more year to finish our projects and I promise you we will have a facility to be proud of. They are suppose to build a new concession stand and bathrooms as soon as the girls field is finished. C Hudgins: Thanks for mentioning our field! As a long time coach I never had a good team that wasn't a little cocky! It helps promote a winning attitude and a consistantly winning program. Good luck to McKenzie and I guess we will see you again in Milan at the end of the week if it ever stops raining.

  7. Volunteer State has had a tradition of outstanding teams over the last fours years. Motlow State and Walters State have been two of the other top programs in Tennessee if you look at your JUCO history. Volunteer State’s Head coach Jeff Smith used to be the pitching coach at the University of Louisville and is very sharp. Assistant coach Michael Crossland is an outstanding coach. The Facilities at Volunteer State and the baseball field are top notch and the school was very impressive on our visit. The school takes great pride in there athletic programs. The education experience has nice size classes where the student can be on a first name basis with his or her professors. The Junior College experience gives a player the chance to make an impact immediately and the player development programs they have are excellent. JUCO’s are great for players who are drafted and followed by the pro teams. They also have a great tradition of having players sign with a Div. I after two years. Vol State Signed Brad Cobb (SS/RHP) out of Goodpasture in Nashville last week. This makes two players ranked in the top 30 in Tennessee according to Baseball America’s prospect plus. Both throwing 87-88 mph. He is a power pitcher. He has a Fast ball, Cut Fastball, Curve, Slider and is working to master his change up. He has always been able to throw hard but in the last year he has learned how to pitch and hit his spots.

I sent coach-T an e-mail and they deleted it!
  9. SportsRadioTn: Coach Putman has compiled a record of 165-64. He is in his eighth season at Henry County and has not had a season under 20 wins. We are very proud of him and Coach Lassiter as Baseball has been the top sport here for many years. Having a son playing college ball and another on his way next year at Vol State I can tell you he has been a great influence and roll model.
  10. Dane its because the computer at your grandmothers logged onto your signon userid instead of mine. Sorry! A coach e-mailed me from a Alabama Junior College about Dumas and Beard! He wants to see them play!
