I’m led to believe they didn’t respond because they couldn’t. The Covid Tracing documents they were requesting did not exist because the proper procedure was not followed. And instead of just coming out and saying that, the health department just didn’t respond. I don’t think we’ve heard the last of this. Does anyone else think there could be an investigation into this? Or am I looking too deep into it?

I wish we could put these kids in a bubble but, they’re kids. I read that it was difficult for NBA players being in their bubble. Can’t imagine what effect it would have on a teenager!!!

And I wasn’t suggesting DB did this to advance. But, was bringing attention to the possibility of it happening in the future. I wish the letter would have shed light on the how and why the even came to be as well as the aftermath of the event.

I’m an Elizabethton fan. I don’t have a dog in this race. I just hate seeing this happening and fear what else could go wrong down the road. With cases surging, what if the Governor stepped in and shut everything down? Wouldn’t that be she poop!

If the news out of McMinn about the Covid outbreak is legit (director of schools quoted in news article, states they closed the high school down last Thursday and Friday) DB may get to go, just so there IS a semifinal game.

Elizabethton’s Parker Hughes had the longest run/TD and the 3rd longest pass reception/TD in the state last weekend. 94yds and 79yds respectfully. That’s a nights work for some. He totaled 10 rushes for 149yds and 2 TD and 1 reception for 79yds and a TD on the night. That pushes his TD total to 23 (18 receiving, 4 rushing and 1 pick six) on the season and lands him 5th on the TSSAA all time TD receptions list with 49 for his career. Only three other receivers have broken the 50 mark.

I watched the playback on NFHS. One thing I did see, The AC linemen were putting their hand down in the 3 point stance, and then lifting their hands off the ground to look back at the coaches. Once you hit that three point stance, you cannot lift that hand up. It’s a false start every time. I only saw it three times. Not covering for the refs. There were still plenty of bad and missed calls. (The waived off pass interference was awful.)

I think the TSSAA will need to be VERY careful on this. It will set a precedent for this type of situation going forward. I hate to even suggest this, but what if a team and their health Dept conspired to advance their team by using Covid? That needs to be addressed in this decision as well. This whole situation is just crazy. Both teams were prepared to play. An outside source affected the game. Who is punished and who benefits? And what does the decision mean for the rest of the state? I get the feeling THIS DECISION will be remembered, studied and debated for many years to come. It could be a black eye or a shining moment for high school football. Or maybe both....

I see the Devils fighting like they do, and the Betsy O-Line running down hill like they do, like road graders. With all of the new looks EHS has shown, by design or last second necessity, it makes them even harder to stop. Stingy Defense brings lunch pails to work. It’s the next game. The only game that matters. No looking forward, no looking back. Betsy will work this week. Heal up and try to further improve their game play. That’s what winners do.

This is AC best chance. Almost all the D returns from last season. If we all make it (C-19) it should be a great game. DeKalb is out of the playoffs. C-19 got them.

Don’t forget, this will only be a 2 year cycle this time. Teams can choose to move and only have to deal with that decision for two seasons.

Certainly gives other teams even more to digest when scouting us. That run at the end by Nate says “and don’t forget me” too! It was looking like Bryson and Parker were the offense. The last two weeks tell a different story. There’s more to this team than two players.

Will this game be broadcast on a NFHS or live streamed on Facebook or YouTube? Time to do some scouting.

I know The DB vs Alcoa game will be on NFHS Network. I’d hope they would live stream the DB vs SHHS on Facebook or YouTube. I want to follow it while watching Betsy play. Should be an entertaining 6A game.

At this point, I’m just praying we can all stay healthy and continue to play. One game at a time. And here’s to Region 1 teams taking care of business in the playoffs when they roll around.

If he throws way too high or behind, Parker and the boys will have a field day for Betsy.

And don’t forget, next year there will be no Sullivan South, Sullivan North or Sullivan Central as they are combining into a new high school. There will be redistricting also, so Sullivan East will pick up some students. I believe the new school will be a 5A school. Which gives Sullivan County a 6A (DB), 5A (TN High) and Sullivan East as a 4A along with this new school.

Just a quick look. But. That prediction would move Anderson Co, Tullahoma & Nolensville out of 4A. Interesting....

I never mentioned the C-word! LOL Mike, I never said it!

The next 3 weeks should be must see football in Region 1, 4A. Everything will settle itself out. Could probably say that about a lot of regional play. But, all I care about right now is this region. Devils and Rebels, Devils and Betsy, Betsy and Rebels. Let the fun begin!

I’m hearing Crockett is available. Would be interesting. I’ve heard Alcoa is also available? I may be mistaken. But I can’t see us risking it with Greeneville AND South back to back coming up. As neat as either would be, and they would be very intriguing games, we need to stay focused on the goal.
