  1. Mavs. Scariest 4 loss team in the state. I listened to Mavs coach on the Free Medical Clinic Scoreboard Show last night. He’s right. It’s gonna be a dogfight. I honestly think the Betsy O-Line needs to block better against the Mavs front four. If we allow a four man rush to disrupt us, it will be a long ride home for basketball season!
  2. The team who can control the line of scrimmage, commit the fewest penalties, limit turnovers and take advantage of what the opponent gives them will win. It’s gonna be a good old fashioned dog fight. I think game planning and the chess match between the coaching staffs will be fun to watch develop as well. For AC, Betsy and the Devils, the next two weeks are always critical. AC can pencil in Betsy/Devils on their calendar for rounds 2 and possibly 3. It’s just how it is. There may (in any given season) be one team in the West that can beat them. But in the East-4A, Quad 1 is where it’s at. Even when one team seams to have the upper hand, it’s not always written in stone. I’m predicting Upperman to come out of Quad 2 and PC out of the west. I dare not pick Quad 1. So, let’s just enjoy the journey and pray for good weather!
  3. Betsy’s QB who transferred to Kingsport had his whole family move. His mom worked for the school system and she quit her job. He’s moving back after Christmas to graduate with his life long friends, but they now have a condo to sell over there! I think some counties let you move between schools no matter where you live, as long as you live in the county. Blount county is like that and maybe Greene county. In Carter you have to live in the school district of the school.
  4. Sorry. Took me all weekend to get over it. Both defenses played good. G’men played better. We knew they were going to run the ball and couldn’t stop them. We missed not having #11 for this game. He’s been that tall receiver that gets open when QB is in trouble. QB can put it up for a rebound and extend drives. Turning the ball over is never good. Officiating was of no consequence. I didn’t think it was that bad. #27 was in the vicinity of the pass, but I do believe it’s a 5 yard radius and he was more than 5 yards away. So, it is what it is. And Ball gets held every game. Some teams are just better at it than others. When those hands are in tight the refs won’t see it. As a former o-lineman, I know the little things that help you get by. Now that we have a taste of Greene, let’s use that bad taste to refocus and win Friday and work on getting better. There can be a rematch, but we will have to earn it. And these rematches usually don’t favor the previous winner. Carter is the focus. Improving is the goal. Go 1-0 this week men.
  5. Rematch? I just want to get by Carter and Anderson County. We can worry about the rematch after we’ve earned it.
  6. Armbrister (spelling?) played 7v7 with us this past spring.
  7. Wow. I blinked and missed a lot on this thread! Here’s my take on the game, from the Devil’s perspective. Can they predominantly run the ball with short passes to keep the D honest and beat Betsy? Yes. See Quarterfinals in 2021 for example of how it’s done, compliments of Bryson Rollins. Run the ball and keep the Betsy O on the bench where they can’t beat you. Gudger did little damage in 21 watching from the sidelines. But Betsy is so well balanced on O and so deep on the defensive side of the ball, it may not matter. They can lock down receivers and the line will run stop on their way to the QB. As big and physical as Mo West and DB were, Betsy ate them up. It will come down to Line play, Mistakes, special teams play and the Mental aspect of the game. Betsy is heavily senior led but there are a bunch of juniors in the mix that have playing time. I lean towards Betsy AT HOME. Let the COWBELLS RING, 24-14.
  8. Well, I don’t consider that the Tri-Cities area, so let’s just say Upper Northeast Tennessee. And yes. Battle for #3
  9. At least neither of us have AXIS SECURITY being party poopers and enforcing the snobbish DB rules. 4A is far superior to 5a and 6a. And YES! I used lower case a’s on purpose. G’Ville and Betsy are fighting for Region 1 supremacy. Across all of the Classes. What’s that say about Science Hill and the Tribe! Pitiful.
  10. I remember in 2021 we put on Walmart’s Greeneville shirts and bought tickets because they were selling them to their fans before they gave us a chance. About 50 of us went over as a group. I’ll remember stuff like that probably when I get old and forget the actual game. Being a fan is fun. Lol
  11. Over the last 7 games since 2019, I think both sides have learned to just let it be decided on the field. I’m sure for Greeneville fans it seems like there’s not enough of a sample to pound their chests. If they win this game, then they can do that. And for Elizabethton fans, we didn’t have high expectations but this team just keeps on making believers out of us. We just don’t want to rock the boat. Slow and steady for both sides. I will say this, I like this game at the end of the season more than I do at the beginning. It needs to stay at week 10 or 11.
  12. I’d say our best teams were Science Hill, DB-Kingsport, Mo West and NorthView. The rest were just weak regional games. Biggest test will be this Friday.
  13. I think they beat Sully East and lock up #3 seed and stay in the Region 1 (Betsy) Bracket. (Which means I think Betsy beats Greeneville). But they won’t make it past round 2. Not this season. This former 3A school has been playing football for 10 years. They will make our Region better. Can you imagine if they figure it out and make noise up here? Having another team with Betsy and the G-Men plus AC in the mix. Beasts of the East indeed!! The stranglehold just gets tighter for Quad One!
  14. Dude! It’s the battle for the second best team in the Tri-Cities. Number one has already been decided.
  15. The Battle to see who is the second best team in the Tri-Cities. Yep. I said it!
  16. If Marshall Co can limit mistakes, penalties and turnovers, play ball control football, keep the PC Offense off the field and put pressure on them, they may have a shot. PC has played good teams and played on the big stage before. It’s a tall task, but it’s doable. Just ask Greeneville in 2021 (Undefeated and lost to Elizabethton in the quarterfinals) or Tullahoma in 2020 (Undefeated and lost to Nolensville also in the Quarterfinals). Stranger things have happened! That’s why we love the high school game so much.
  17. Betsy RAN the ball very well against the Tribe and is a running team that can throw it. Also known as a BALANCED football team. But that Defensive unit is really something. Two deep at every position. Stuffing the run, on their way to the QB with linebackers filling the gaps and protecting the flats and middle against screens. They really only have to use the front 4 to get pressure. I’m guessing Greeneville and AC will try to ground and pound the ball and dominate the time of possession to keep the Betsy O off the field and wear down the D. Like Betsy did to Greeneville back in 2021. But, with all the high quality subs on D Betsy has, that will be a difficult task. The chess game inside the game is what I like the most. Who can scheme and game plan the best? And yes. I do my homework. LOL
  18. Those early Mavs losses came during a time when Moog was hurt and they were trying to figure out life without Walker Martinez. Their season is extremely identical to Betsy last year. Figuring out life after Bryson Rollins. Remember how that went for us?! This is the most dangerous 4 loss team in the state. Don’t sleep on them. Don’t forget what we almost pulled off last season against them! They may try to return the favor. Let’s just handle this weeks game and let the Devils and Mavs beat each other up for the opportunity to play us at The Bank.
  19. It’s the most, wonderful time, of the year! Who wins, how and why. Let the opinions roll! Greeneville’s been bitten by the weather bug all season. Can the Cyclones continue that trend? (Sorry. Couldn’t resist) I think so. That Betsy Defense is elite. And 2 DEEP at every position. And the Offense doesn’t revolve around just one player. It’s a “pick your poison” group. Which makes them tough to game plan against. I’m genuinely more impressed by this Betsy team than any of the last 5 years. And that’s saying something.
  20. Their D Ends look the part. Betsy was at home, and on homecoming, for the first time all season after 6 straight road wins. To say they were a little hyped up would be an understatement! But, once they calmed down, it was basically over and they shut the door on them. They will be a great addition to the Quad to add some more quality to the ranks. Their coach, who was the O-Line coach at Catholic, seems to really get it. He will have this team competing very soon. But I don’t think they will make it out of round 2. No doubt they ain’t scared to play big boy ball. When you play Alcoa every season, you gotta be ready for the next level.
  21. I view it like this. Moog out was a problem. Life without Martinez was a problem. Fast forward to week 11. Problems solved. Let’s play some ball. The scariest 4 loss team in the state right now. And I’ve said this before. Mirrors Betsy from last season. I see Gibbs and Carter going to the Region One bracket and loosing to Betsy and AC and Greeneville doing their annual thing in round 2. Betsy and AC tangle in the quarters with the winner getting Upperman. And then, that winner will face Pearl in Chatty. I really like our Betsy team this season. I think we can pull this off. But, first things first. We gotta beat the devils and earn that home field. Week 11 will be a huge week for a lot of teams. Everyone be safe and have a great week.
  22. You think Bryson finishes his career at Maryville or transfers out?
  23. you got it. Except there will be no round 4 for AC. Unless you buy a ticket.
