  1. Hey FB. how you doing? No need to chastise your Booniacs. They are just proud to finally have something to be proud of. I am happy for them. It grows NET and isn't that what we all want? I mean Powell thinks they done died and gone to Cookville heaven. And Knox West is not boastful but they sure have a HO because they know they got the goods. Which is precisely why I don't like the first round. We should all be playing other teams besides ourselves. I mean we ain't scarred...and I know you all are not. So yes, rain will benefit you. Period. But some fool said Hayden is all we got. Bless it. It's still on the scout team. At least it's trying. Some bloom faster than others. Yeah, we are the underdog. It's OK, we like it that way. And most of the Boone Nation figures we are done beat. So, I hope your boys are planning on playing 4 quarters of football 'cause we don't start rolling until the 4th. We got this one D lineman that got caught in the chicken coop and they claim he still has feathers in his mouth today. I know yall big, fast, and good all over and all that...and I know we are going to have a hard time keeping up...especially when Hayden is all we got but we will try and prepare you for the next round. On a serious note...Steffey, in the past two games has dropped no less than 6 40-60 yarders where he had his man beat by at least 3 yards each time. He normally catches everything Hayden throws his way. I would think it's time for a turn-around, And Haynie...well he is a pretty smart cookie.
  2. There are 59 5A schools in TN currently. 8 Regions of 7 teams leaves 3 teams. 3 Regions would have 8 teams. Or, 8 team regions would require 5 teams play up to 5A in order to have 8 regions with 8 teams. I'm sure Greeneville would be glad to come back home. Playing top 4 as qualifiers would be best with 8 team regions. 6A has 55 teams. 4A has 53. 3A has 54. 2A has 39. 1A has 41.
  3. Maybe I should explain myself. The first round should under no circumstances pit conference teams against each other. It has nothing to do with playing Boone. If you have to play each other in the 2nd round then it just means you both advanced. I don't like 6 classifications. I don't like being intertwined in a 5A/6A conference. I like playing 6A schools but not to the detriment of playoff considerations. We need to go back to the way it was.
  4. The fact that South is playing Boone in the first round is proof that this years version of the playoffs is BS. That said, IMOP, West is the best team in the state in 5A.
  5. One thing is for sure. Win or lose, these two schools will never just play a game. Compete they will, and all Hades will be let loose, but in the end they will always be brothers with a love for what matters most.
  6. Neither. I think West can school Powell as well...with or without Mobley. I haven't seen Boone play since the South game so I'm actually out of line with that statement. And I don't think common opponents mean squat. Boone came out hard against Bristol and the 'Toppers but got schooled against the Indians. South brought the Indians all they wanted but leaked pressure week by week until the 'Vikings. So it's all about who comes to play. And I feel West has confidence they are the 2010 5A state champs. Overconfidence being their weakness. I do have a gut instinct but I will let it play out. I will say that matchups are pretty even. So in my book it is who brings the beast.
  7. It's incredible. These people make careers out of watching football. Granted, managing the inventory of officials is a nightmare. And I would agree that is a major undertaking. But here we sit inventing the better system for the TSSAA so they can change it and come out smelling like a rose. One does not have to be a football mind or sit and calculate for weeks to figure out the system so as to at least understand what would work better. No, one facet convinces me that stupidity reins in this invention. I allude to merely one part of the playoff process. Playing a team from your own conference in the first round. I need look no further.
  8. Bristol is not the doormat IMOP. They do have athletes. What I see missing is number one, fan support. What happens in the stadium on Friday nights is also what happens at the supper table Monday thru Thursday. Number two, the coaching scheme is not very adaptable. And yes, number three, I saw a lack of leadership when the chips were down. That is incredible after the charge they opened up with. And lastly, and this is just my opinion, but people are out of position. The coach is to be in control of all of these facets. But the air at home directly affects leadership. My Rebel kinship will disagree but we were outmatched in places. But a superior attitude at home and on the field will eat 4.4 speed for lunch. You need look no further than Maryville for this example.
  9. Everyone is light years ahead of their game in week 0.
  10. If you follow recruiting long enough you finally understand how it works. There are not enough walk ons to run the scout teams. Some (partial) scholarship money has to be spent on filling in slots. Then there are (sometimes partial and sometimes full) scholarships for potential players. Potential being a 1 or a 2 star (I think 3 stars is the threshhold of excitement). Then of course there are the 5 Star recruits. There are surprises in all categories both positive and negative. Bryce Brown and David Oku come to mind. The two Bristol recruits have the correct diminsions for their respective positions to produce potential success. I would say some of the best athletes are the ones who "grow" into their positions when in high school they were not really stars.
  11. Booneman, just as I never disrespected the Blazers after the South win...as well I never bought into the notion that the Vikings were a pushover. In addition, I don't think the Rebel Nation is larger than life. I guess the confidence of a few years of a winning program allows one a different mentality when it comes to self evaluation. We have learned to stay hungry and to try and not get overconfident. A team can be humbled very quickly. We have experienced that often. The Vikings played a heck of a game last night. You feel that they played the same quality of ball against you but that you were just dominant. I'm glad you are confident in your horsepower as I don't dismiss your ability. I feel your boasting is quantified. The proof will be in the pudding. I wish you all the best and for NET to show well against Knoxville. And when we go against each other...may one of us take it west.
  12. 21 zip is a tradition at South. 21 is the signal to get a chew, lace your boots up and get nasty. I have seen the Vikings play 4 times times this season...after tonight. By far a different team than I have previously seen. Much more team speed than South. They wanted it. They executed. We lollygagged. But I think after 21 they thought we were done. When it hit 21 the alarm went off. They did not expect what happened after that. But they never gave up. Great effort by Bristol. I hope the Booners were there so they can give a report. Mine will be skewed. Our D line was the difference. Killer run by Castle. Great effort by the LB'ers. Haden? Hey, he's a South QB...what do you expect? Truly, the Vikings played with heart. I knew they would. Cap, he didn't have control of the ball. It happened right in front of me. When he hit the ground he didn't have control of it. Yes, it was a game changer. Stubbs should have thrown more. Booners, I dare say the team we played tonight is not the same team you played.
  13. Well, South may be Quarterback High School but we wouldn't dare disrespect your hard core team of fighters. As well no need for disucussion of any of this because the Vikings will most likely play their best game of the season this week. On any given Friday night is what is said. The last game of the season in the Castle? And against non other than the Rebel Flag waving crazies? And the Rebels have won since '06 in the Castle? And everybody is predicting a blowout? Well, in my best Dirty Harry..."you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya punk?
  14. I think we have all seen the similarities and as well the differences between Carter and Haynie. In a default situation and under duress, yes Haden will get the call. But I'm sure Haynie realizes that he needs something else to succeed in the playoffs. And that something is what I see being utilyzed in Bristol. How that works out is to be seen but I don't see us going in and not attempting to polish up the plan B. Crawdad, is the Black Sheep benched for this one? I know the Raven has not been too outspoken yet but I would look for him to display some of that Daddy inherited speed. '06 was a display of running the ball. '08 was a display of running the ball. '10?
  15. Toss, I would think Boone to be the better team over MoWest. Playoffs will be a dogfight from start to finish so might as well strap it on.
  16. My understanding is that Spradlin Senior was set to bring his boy to the Rebel Nation after the '08 season. But job complications negated that move.
  17. Jack or Batman, what game did Seabolt throw the most attempts in? And does he have college asperations?
  18. I think the intellectual kids are going to be intellectual wherever they go. Given the choice they will most always want to stay with their friends. Some kids are adventurous and look for new and diferent challenges but not many. At least not at 14. However, I have to agree that DB offers more oportunity. South traditionally has had an extremely strong math department so I think it is one of their assets. But speaking overall, yes I think DB has more to offer. As well, I think DB has more problems. So there are two sides of the coin. But when we talk of athletics I don't think there is an argument. It is common sense really. DB's Coach Kiersey is a prime example. The Division I scouts told him outright that if he wanted to play major college ball that he would need to transfer from Volunteer to DB. There will be arguments in both directions. Such as Ralph Nelson. Many will say that if you are good enough you will be found. I feel Curt Phillips was an SEC QB. Would it have been different at DB? How about Jeremy Osborne? Caleb Kitzmiller? Brad Davenport? The list goes on. There are some facts that can't be overlooked. DB coaching hasn't missed a beat in many moons. South coaching was good under Compton and then Smith but suffered terribly until Carter and now it looks like Haynie is the new man. One thing I have noticed for at least the past 10 years is that by and large CHMS football teams have dominated Sevier and Robinson teams. But that domination has not replicated itself through the high school level. Granted the two best classes from South were prevented from playing DB...2007 and 2008 but still the trend is that DB takes Sevier and Robinson players and turns them into something special. There are many reasons why Indians think their school is superior to the counties but I think money is one major reason. South performs well with a 1000 count census in football and does well in many acedemic areas. But football is only one sport and most other sports at South suffer badly. So overall I have to agree with 91. I think DB is the smart choice for most upwardly mobile academic students as well as most athletes. However, Robert E. Lee after being invited to command the United States Army forces against the Confederate secession stayed true to his home state. He was against secession and its original reasonings but vowed to stay faithful to his home state as they followed South Carolina into secession and into the Confederacy. He was regarded as one of the most brilliant military men in history. There is alot to be said for loyalty. And it seems that Southers do posess loyalty.
  19. Your post shows stupidity. Why, you have to be in college to post a 4.3? What did Michael Vick post in high school? It's like this...Greeneville is a 4A school that has historically played up to 5A. They have been 4A since '09. They may not have the storied program of the teams in the 'Boro or the historical following of DB but what they do have is the most powerful 4A team in the state and could compete in 6A just fine. I am not a Greeneville fan. I am a Sullivan South fan. And DB will give anyone fits they come in contact with this season in the playoffs. And Greeneville would give DB fits. Greeneville, legitamately has the fastest QB (or other athlete for that matter) in the state. If you have not seen them play then you should keep quiet because they are the real deal. This guy is the next Michael Vick.
  20. Don't fret these people with blinders on CG. Just go to Cookville and put on a show. Then the disbelievers will mess their pants. And then they will know that NET has produced the new Micheal Vick. NET behind you all the way.
