  1. Hill, after two losses to 5A schools...we fully well expect the Devil to come out Thursday night. I mean...what Stacy has tried to do with your boys has basically never been done...correct? To build this kind of dedication to excellance takes a while to soak in. I think you have turned the ship around rather admirably. And you have the athletes to compete with most anyone. It's that mental madness that is tough to master. And of course that is what you speak of. So Good luck to your warriors and I hope for no injuries and no bad flags.
  2. Couple all that I said previously with the fact that the 2009 Rebels seniors were comprised almost exclusively of 3 year starters on both sides of the ball. And quite a few of them. Graduation left lots of holes to be filled with talented but inexperienced athletes.
  3. Cap, disrespect for the Vikings does not abound. I saw the cat scratch fever you produced to beat the 'Toppers. I don't care what anyone says, the 'Toppers are not a pushover. When your players lined up to storm the sideline at J. Fred I knew they were doomed. It was written all over them. Not the same team that I watched in JC. Same for the 'Blazers. They were helpless as South whipped them. But, obviously, a totally different team played Science Hill last week. The surprises are not over. And the Vikings are not done. They will rise once again. As will the 'Blazers. And I hope...the Rebels. I don't discount what you say but it will get fixed.
  4. Leadership is a powerful word. Dissention is a just as powerful. These are normally reflections of coaching. Sometimes as powerful as great coaching can be, negativity can still brew and usually takes drastic measures to quell it's effect. Last years Indians are perfect examples of this phenomonon. I'm not sure if that is the issue with the Vikings as Cap stated but it most definately was the issue with the Rebels at the beginning of the season. Fortunately, the Rebels have cured their ill before total devistation ensued. And the Indians are an example of great leadership with their sustained momentum going forward.
  5. I don't feel Stacy left the South program with animosity. We wished him the best and were proud to see him make what most in the area felt was a smart decision. We were proud to have been graced by his presence as I feel he was proud of his tenure. But not only did we lose Stacy, as well we lost an equally revered secondary coach. Sam Haynie was left with a high quality stable of athletes. But the prospect of not missing a beat would have been hard for any new coach to adhere to. The Pactolus commnuity would not tolerate anything but success. And after a questionable beginning Sam Haynie and staff were under fire. This is just life. Stacy caused neither failure nor success. But the consequense of his departure along with coach Weston's produced a tough act to follow. And coach Haynie has gone through the fire and his staff along with him in attempting to produce a product comparable with past Rebel warriors. I and I'm sure all Southers feel the Haynie Train is headed in an admirable direction. So to answer your question, no I don't think Stacy left the program in ashes and the garden full of weeds. The other factors involved are factors that would affect any new coaching staff at any program.
  6. To talk football, I think it will be a major undertaking to contain #23. And he is not all they have in the backfield. Not to mention their air game. His speed is well documented and as well respected. If he runs wild the Rebels will suffer. In addition, our secondary has improved with on the job training. Are they ready for the 'Topper air raid? As ready as they will ever be. Stacy is the master of using the pass to set up the run. So we cannot sell out to one or the other. Our largest hope is to get pressure on the QB. But respect has to be given to the 'Topper O line and that won't be an easy task accomplished. In my back seat opinion I think the long ball is our main concern. And not far behind is the return capabilities of the 'topper return corp. I will venture to say that this game will expose a seldom utilized 'Topper weapon and will turn this game into a dogfight. The thing about Carter teams is they are always multi-faceted. I hope for a fairly officiated game with no bad blood left behind.
  7. Toss, you are attempting to present the boards with a querie whose answers are still in the quick, if you will, to Southers. We lost Jake...that was enough to deal with. Then we lost our revered coach, and no matter whether you loved him or abhorred him no one in the South camp will deny that he was revered. And then the South camp was divided on how the aftermath was compiled. It was the common discussion (argument) at the supper table and after church on Sundays. And it produced devistation for the beginning of our 2010 campaign. And irregardless of our divided opinions on how the staff is currently operating, none of us (Southers) can deny that the program is close to where we all felt we had the ability to be at week 0 had Stacy stayed. Sam Haynie had a tough row to hoe but we all will agree that he is scraping his way out of the ashes of which he was born. We will dare not to discuss anything else that would cause trepidation to this program at this juncture. We may be standing on pins and needles and hot coals but our athletes have been empowered with mind over matter and we will not disturb their focus with a discussion such as the one you advocate. So please understand that it is serious business on Pactolus and you need not feel disassociated but merely to not expect a debriefing of the state of the union of the Rebels. But to at least give the 'Toppers the respect of a response, I don't think anyone expects them to be a deer in the headlights Thursday night. Even Dobyns Bennett fans will attend the event. This is one for the ages.
  8. Now Otis, you know in your heart it's true. You said good thangs 'bout us. You know we played you harder than anybody yet. We lost to you but by the gods we didn't lay down. 'Cept when you pulled us down and rolled on us fer a spell so's we couldn't git up.
  9. Jack...don't be upset. I get there quick I can. You know Friday the day I trim yo mamma's hedge.
  10. Dang Otis...that was...so...funny...I can't ...stop...laughing! I love to watch a STAND UP ACTED. If I didn't know you were Otis I would think you were Steve Harvey. He is one of my favorite STAND UP ACTED!
  11. Jack...you OK? You get your check on time this month? Hey man...you need anything just let me know.
  12. Get the young kids some "PT"? Can I be a young kid? Ted Nugent says PT is sweet.
  13. I'm sorry, I got the wrong channel...this must be comedy central.
  14. Jumpin' junipers Batman...37664 is zoned to go to South when it becomes a city school. What grade is your youngest in?
  15. I packed me a Squaw fer' 10 year, Pilgrim. Traded 'er fer a Hawken at Deadwood Creek. But don't git me wrong...I luvs the womens....
  16. Hello Batman. Oakland is also undefeated I believe. They play Blackman this week and I will take Blackman but they are probably the underdogs. The predictions in 6A is Oakland vs Marynille. I think DB has a legitimate shot and I wish them the best.
  17. Steffey gets my blood pumped! As well I think our Seniors have come together! Rebel Yell!!!
  18. The Raven we lost in the spring. I heard it was for the season. Just curious if there are new developments. I would also like to give kudos to our punter. He is turning out to be quite the athlete. Our coaches saw what many of us did not. I guess that's why they are the coaches.
  19. I know Trey Trammell's family and he will be a devout Indian. I would never suggest he do anything but what is best for him. I don't know the Headrick child but have seen him play since Optimist. He has ability. I have been told he will transfer. I wish the best for him if that is his choice.
  20. "Comp" stands for computer. Computers are ones (I) and zeros (O). It's called binary. It's the way God intended it to be. Not ones and ones. Not zeros and zeros. But, ones and zeros. One is on. Zero is off.
  21. Both teams are in a do or die situation. That guarantees a killer game. I will give Hayden the nod as the better QB. He will not be contained. I will give Science Hill the nod for the better RB. I will give Science Hill the nod for the O line by the slightest of margins. I will bive south the nod for the D line and LB'ers. I will call Deuce game for the secondary. South gets the best TE. I will call Duece game on the WR's. I will give South the edge in attitude. I will give South the edge in leatherneck-ability. I will give Science Hill the advantage in quick strike ability. The kicking game will be a dull ache for South. The return game definately goes to Science Hill. Sam didn't win Mr. Football lineman for nothing. He is a thinker. Stacy historically has issues preparing for the big game. Stacy will go for the throat from the drop of the flag. He will throw deep and often. Sam doesn't give up so easily. Sam is not scared to take chances. Stacy only takes calculated chances. South is blood thirsty. Science Hill is bleeding. Stacy has been there done that. Sam and his scorned group of left for dead Rebels want restitution. On paper Science Hill is the better team. South will set fire to that paper.
  22. Crawdad, what is the current status on the Raven? Shanks? O/I
  23. Yes, Carter inherited a ton of talent. but more importantly he inherited two assistant coaches who were powerful support coaches. That would be current head coach Sam Haynie and retired secondary coach Jerry Weston. In 2004, when Carter took over Heath Hayden was in 6th grade, Aaron St. Clair was in 7th, Brad Davenport was in 8th, and Curt was a Frosh.
