  1. All the final games take place on Saturday.
  2. The coordinating school is McGavock. The games are being played all over Nashville including the home fields of MLK, McGavock, Lipscomb and a few others.

  5. This district tends to get the benefit of the doubt on their strength considering they have always sent two teams to the Region championship on both the boys and girls side combined with their championship history. However, in the recent past (especially with White House Heritage this past boys season) District 10 has been providing a little bit more of a challenge.
  6. Some Montgomery County soccer: http://www.theleafchronicle.com/apps/pbcs..../809100360/1006 http://www.theleafchronicle.com/apps/pbcs..../809100359/1006
  7. It's especially bad at rural schools where football has always been the top dog. I know at our school our girls have to ask for permission to practice on the football/soccer field even though the football team was given a top-of-the-line practice field, complete with a sprinkler system, fieldhouse and bathrooms. The girls are relegated to a 50x30 patch of dry grass, full of potholes that could turn any ankle, right on the edge of a goat field the ag classes use. It's sad but people (administration, citizens, etc) just don't care about soccer. Even when, historically, the girls soccer has been much more successful in comparison.
  8. Believe me, I am not insinuating anything. Being a Clarksville resident, I've heard a lot of conversations about this topic and this was simply one of the opinions that was becoming more prevalent. Just wanted to see what people thought... Don't shoot the messenger.
  9. This was posted on a local Clarksville athletics message board... I don't think this was over wins and losses. And I am certain that Mike Gibson is smart enough to know when and when not to fire a coach. In these situations, where neither party talks, there is usually something that nobody wants to talk about. Mike can't comment, because it violates certain protocols of the employee/employer relationship. If Coach Donahue wants to comment, then he will. Otherwise, there are a few who know, and a lot who are guessing. But the school system would not allow a firing of a 30 veteran (whose wife is also an employee @ HQ) without any cause. This seems to be the opinion that a lot of people around the area are starting to share. It's still just an odd situation...
  10. It wasn't really that much of a surprise. They've been competitive for the past few years now but have been young. They have 8th graders on their roster. The bulk of the talent on their team are sophomores and juniors that after playing together for so long finally broke through that plateau this year. Plus having a fairly strong feeder system with their county youth program doesn't hurt either.
  11. So what are you saying about Montgomery Central exactly? Because I know you aren't putting them at the same level with Northwest. Would really like to hear some justification. Sorry to get off topic...but a low blow to my alma mater can't go untouched.
  12. Heritage has nothing to lose (which could be dangerous). What they lack in talent to CAK they make up for with speed and determination. A lot of teams in their position would have the "just happy to be here" attitude. This team instead feels like they have something to prove. They may also have the crowd on their side. They travel well and everyone loves the underdog. But...I hate this... Heart says Heritage. Logic and reason says CAK.
  13. You're right. They're a different team with Bug in goal. It's been fun being a Heritage fan this past week. One more week to go. Go District 10.
  14. Tough draw for Heritage. "Hi welcome to state Heritage." "Thanks. Who are you?" "We're CAK." "Oh cool. Is this your first time too?" "No we're the 5-time defending champions." "..."
  15. Clarksville 2009...We need to put a bid in ASAP
  16. Not to one-up you or start another argument concerning the fact of the matter...but, if I'm not mistaken, District 10 hadn't even won a region game since Montgomery Central went to State in 1999. Let's just hope both teams make it to state and make some noise there. Any word on the Giles County/Page game? I assume they figured out which field they were playing on.
  17. Although it may not all be positive...I'm just glad District 10 is finally getting some attention. They've been overshadowed by that other district (you know...all those Nashville private schools /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> ) for a long time and an afterthought when it came to postseason play.
  18. Those two teams play ten times...Heritage wins 9. I hope more people get to see them play this year. I've been thoroughly impressed with their effort during regions.
  19. Giles County v. Page result anyone? Us Region 5 fans would like to know...
  20. Looking at the radar...this game should be okay. The rain only looks like it will affect everywhere south of I-40. Let's hope this rings true, I've been looking forward to this game. Only time will tell.
  21. The rumor is true. The athletic director at Clarksville High School informed Coach Donahue that his services would no longer be needed after this season in a meeting yesterday. Tough way to go for a coach who's been in the same position for 25 years and is first on the list of career wins in Tennessee (355).
  22. Anybody know what time the Heritage game is tomorrow? I jumped on the bandwagon about mid-season and would like to continue the ride.
  23. From what I saw, the red card will probably only affect last night's game. Heritage is really talented and have a lot of potential when they're all playing efficiently. They lost some wing play having to move #10 back to goal, but they're bench was able to keep up. Luckily, he also has goalie experience. Don't be surprised if they get past Goodpasture. Even if they lose, they have an even better chance of winning the Sectional against the Region 6 teams, who IMO are somewhat weaker than Region 5. Heritage in Murfreesboro. A happy sight for all us District 10 fans.
  24. Thank you White House-Heritage. The drought is over.
  25. Region 5 A/AA White House-Heritage 3 - CPA 2 Golden Goal Probably considered an upset by most. First time District 10 has won a region game in a very long time. WHH played with 10 men (starting goalie got a red card) after the 55th minute. CPA tied it as the final whistle blew in regulation. One of the best high school games I've witnessed. Goodpasture 4 - Harpeth 0 Goodpasture @ WHH Thursday
