Actually, what The Bull is saying is that if a private school is in a league that plays other school teams, then they should play only the students enrolled at their school and not use students from outside of their school. A community team that allows students from many schools should participate as that, a community team. In many middle TN towns the communities have joined a league that is just for the purpose of developing youth athletics. Examples: Bordeaux Eagles Brentwood Blaze Cookeville Cavaliers Donelson Warriors Franklin Cowboys Gallatin Green Wave Goodlettsville Trojans Grassland Golden Eagles Hendersonville Titans Mt. Juliet Bears Murfreesboro Mustangs Nashville Panthers Nolensville Panthers Shelbyville Eagles Smyrna Bulldogs South Nashville Sooners Tennessee Patriots Warren Co. Pioneers These teams can all be found in the TYFA league/association at Tennesse Youth Football Association Many of these teams are made up of communities that may or may not have players that will attend one high school. However, I can bet you that some definitely are made up to be a feeder type program. I am curious if the South Pitt team is in a similar league, or do they play other school teams. Either way, I am sure that the S.P. teams are all in line of a direct feeder pattern, whereas your school's only direct feeder pattern would be the students currently enrolled.

Feeder programs are of great importance to many teams' future success. Thus the importance of beginning these teams for the school's athletic programs. Again, my objection is not to having these teams, but to utilize the players from your school only. Allowing non-enrolled students to play on a school team is wrong. Enroll first: Play second.

"We'll Go Round in Circ...Circ...Circ....Circ....Circ...Circles...." It would be very easy for The Bull to be satisfied with this being a "travel team". However, I think travel teams should not have the private school's old jerseys, print the private school's name on their "program", or utilize their school's name in the local newspaper. Until then, I see this as a means to entice students to play for the school's team prior to being enrolled at the private school, and therefore, IMO, should be acknowledged as such. Instead of continuing to deny that this method is a form of recruiting students to a private school. Again, as I will always state, there is not one thing wrong with having the team, but play the students that you have. Develop your talent from within. Once they enroll, then have at it.

But if it occurs during the particular sport's season, then...... And if they have the school's name on their jersey, then..... And if they play all of their home games at the school, then.... And....

But it is ok to start up a (same age group mind you) private school football team and allow students that are not enrolled in your school to play for this team??????

I just think the only fair way for all involved would be for private schools not to do this in a competitive way in which the team uses the schools name, logo, school colors, and uniform. Surely the school has more to offer than middle school football to get a parent/child interested in their school? Now that is the question that I can not get answered by anybody.

I, personally, do not think that it is a fair situation for all that are involved. Just being an advocate for the little guy.

And they probably will have a lifelong impact on the kids life. However, the initial contact is/was/always will be about sports. Timing is the question mark.

and Hopefully, you will choose to do so from an early age. Perfect solution. Many of the students may or may not have any intentions of attending a private school ahead of time. By playing for a team in which a student is not enrolled is only a way for the private school to introduce their program to the family. Thus it sounds like a great plan of action, but is it fair to all involved (i.e. other schools in the same classification)? Looks like a very good decision for that family. Maybe he could have had similar results where he came from, though we will never know.

I will add this: The current upperclassmen of FC, with the one big exception, is made up of students that have been involved in the FC program for many years. They truly have went through the FC system. And that is the way it should be.

Ultimately it's all about economics. In order for a business to survive it must have a steady cliental. Though these schools do not have a monopoly on the situation, they do have an advantage above the "Mom & Pop stores" (so to speak)

Nothing at all!!!........except I do feel there are some schools, again, I won't say which schools, utilize unfair ways of allowing students to play on their school teams prior to enrolling at the school. I think that this would be less problematic if they would either enroll these said students or realize that this is unfair to all of the smaller programs that are not as capable of having these similar programs. By allowing this to occur, private schools are breaking out of their 'radius' of similar zones which makes it difficult for small schools to compete.

TSSAA Handbook: Schools with any combination of grades 6-12 will hold only one membership in the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association, but may compete in the Middle School Athletic Association, Junior High Division, and Senior High Division. Maybe they do care???

Glad to provide you with reading opportunities, but the subject matters at hand are not necessarily against Private schools. Just looking at things through a wide angled lens as oppossed to many who view Private schools through those "Rose Colored Glasses".

I'm just saying create something of FC's own. It could be the piece of the puzzle that would allow the faithful something to really involve them in the game Friday.

The horn is good and all, but it is definitely overrated. It would be different if it would have been an original idea of the FC faithful. However, FC needs something to call their own instead of relying on other's "new" traditions.

Reminds me of the time KFC tried to tell everybody that their name was Kitchen Fresh Chicken
