  1. Maryville bounces back tonight against a very good Rhea County team but it will not be a cake walk. This game will be close for a while then Maryville will seperate themselves. Maryville-31 Rhea County-14
  2. Everyone so far has called it the way it will be. This Chattanooga Brainerd team has been decent in the past but they get in the playoffs by attrition do to a weak region so this is a blowout. Maryville by 5 touchdowns.
  3. Well from all the laughing smiley faces on this board I would say job well done! But if you happened to be serious and now you are covering up then I would take some advice and get out of the prediction business. And that is no Etymology.
  4. Congrats to all Cardinal fans on this board. I know this will bring alot of joy and relief. It was a great accomplishment to win 83 regular season games and then play their best ball in the post season without much help from Albert. Great team effort. Great job from Larussa who deserves alot of the credit. So Solomon and all you Cardinal fans exhale for a few weeks and then get ready for the silly offseason. I do not know the contract status for your players but there will probly be some changes do to free agency and so forth. Anyhow congratulations!

  6. Well you are in the drivers seat and let me tell you from experience that after you get to 3 wins the games are gut wrenching to watch. You will be more nervous than the players. I remember watching my beloved Sox sweep the uh... sorry the Cardinals, game 4 was by far the hardest to watch.
  7. Welcolm back Sol. I am very jealous right now. Glad you had a great time. So what was your best moment? Did you have dinner after the game with Albert?
  8. I warned everyone on the Cards-Mets board that the long layoff might make the Tigers a little rusty and now they are playing poor baseball. They are making critical mistakes. The kind of mistakes that you can not make and win a World Series although I am surprised that this series is not tied. I thought the Cardinals would slow down a hot Tigers team but I did not believe that the Cards would be up 3-1. They have done an outstanding job. Now Larussa is in a great position but they need to wrap this thing up tonight. They do not want to go back to Detroit with new life.
  9. Thank You Rebel 9. When I lived in Maryville(God's Country) I was able to be near the program and have all the information available to me but now that I am gone it is much harder to keep up with so I read your guys posts frequently. Thanks a bunch
  10. Thank you for the info. How does the future look for the Rebels? How has the middle school, freshman, and jv teams performed this year overall? Can you tell me in what capacity that Coach Archie Anderson from the middle school serves in. He used to be head coach of the Junior High (7,8,and 9th grades in my day)Thnx
  11. STARSANDBARS I now live in Nashville and I rely on you guys for all the info. So where did they play those games at last night and who coaches the freshman team. Is Coach Mark Humphries still there? Thnx
  12. Well I would not be in shock if your prediction came true. I also would not be devastated either. I think of the Cardinals as one of the good guys. I have to leave work soon and make a long drive home but give me the inside scoop on Roland and Larussa. My Father told me last night when I was in Maryville with him watching the game that they were not talking. I probly will not get your answer till tomorrow. Thanks Solomon and good luck
  13. After watching the 2 first games I can actually say I am very excited about this Series. They traded blows in Detroit and now they head back to St. Louis and as we say here in the South this is going to be a real barn burner. I like both teams here but somehow Detroit pulls this out in 7. Go American League! I just hope the Cardinals do not bring John Tudor out of retirement.
  14. I am a former Maryville graduate. Class of 89' and I can remember it meaning so much to us then as kids to have bragging rights. These kids today are no differant because they go to the same churches and they see each other in public. They play summer sports together so the kids are the same. Now you may have a point when it comes to coaches and administration. I for one would be sad to see this format change. Maybe it will and everybody in the media and everybody outside of Blount County will get there way. As the world turns change is inevitable but sometimes for the worse.
  15. Many people make these kinds of comparisons and say things like schedule tougher opponets but reality is that the three teams you mention are county rivals. This may not be what people outside of Blount County want but believe me when I say that it is a good thing for the kids and for the community to keep these rivalries alive. And as for Alcoa, they are probly the best 6-2 team in the state. Maryville does not need national recognition to prove they are the best in Tennessee so why does this matter to so many people outside of Blount County?
  16. Congrats to all the cardinal fans on this board. I am glad to see you guys beat a former expansion team. Cardinals and Tigers. These are two grand old Franchises with storied traditions with a long history in the sport of Baseball. This is what October is all about. Good luck to both teams. I am an American League guy so as a fan I would like to see a classic series. Sorry guys but now I must cheer on the Tigers.
  17. Believe me I know about game 7's and they can be paralyzing to say the least. So go ahead and take care business tonight. The Cards could use a couple a days rest before going to a World Series with very rested Tigers team. By the way my loyalties shift to the American League on Saturday so we will be on differant sides of the aisle. Carpenter should be fine though.
  18. I always thought weaver had good stuff. He just needed someone like Duncan to get him on track. That was a big time performance on a big stage. Stottlemeyer never could get the best out of Weaver and the Yankees gave up on him. He was resurrected somewhat with the Dodgers but this is the best I have seen pitch. Congrats to the Cardinals. One to go.
  19. SOLOMON much of what you say is true but just remember that we were victims of the Yankees free spending this last off season when we lost Johnny Damon. The current administration will no longer hand out big contracts like they did with Manny Ramirez. We just signed Big Papi to 12mil a year and you and I both know that the Yankees would paid way over that amount. And yes I do not like all the band wagon fans since 04 but I have to tell you that most people I ask about the hat admit they just like the hat and are not fans. So do not be so hard on old REDSOX here and the rest of the NATION. We really for the most part are very good fans who have a love for the game.
  20. SOLOMON it is good to meet someone as passionate as me but if you hate my Redsox merely because they swept you your Cardinals 04 then I need to remind you that the Cardinals beet my Redsox in 7 in 1946 and also beat them in 7 in 1967. It came full circle is all. These are two storied franchises with a whole lot of tradition. This why I root for the original teams. The Mets are an expansion team so I say go Cardinals!
  21. Thank you guys for sharing your memories. This is what the game is supposed to do to people and that is why it is the greatest sport. As you can see I am a Red Sox fan. I named my son after Ted Williams. We call him Teddy because when Ted would talk about himself he would refer to himself in third person by calling himself Teddy Ballgame. I am new to this message board but it is a privledge to share and talk with passionate baseball fans. Thank You Now if they just can restore order to the game and get rid of all those who cheat by taking steroids. I for one will never recognize those records that have fallen to those who do not play the game the right way. The game is still great and and needs to kept that way.
  22. There is no doubt Maryville is the big favorite but am aware of some good football being played at Red Bank and Mo West. I am former graduate and follow the program closely from Nashville and can honestly say that winning the state will not be a walk in the park. They still schedule these games for a reason and every year someone gets stunned in the Playoffs but my faith in Maryville's coaching staff is unwavering. They will be prepared. Go Big Red!
