How does the Harpeth team look now that basketball is over?have not heard alot about them this year.how will they stack up against Waverly tonite?Looks like they have scheduled some tough teams in David Lipscomb and Ezell Harding.How did they look in the Dickson playday.

That is interesting that Harpeth beat Waverly. It is nothing against Waverly but they hung around and beat Dickson and i have already seen Harpeth play against Dickson. Good job Harpeth i am sure it was a hard fought win Congrats.

Was this an official game or scrimmage?

Game was played at Harpeth. Waverly's leadoff batter (catcher, Jenny Hickman) reached first, but severely injured her ankle going into second. The game was delayed 20 minutes while she was attended to. Initial x rays were negative and she is seeing a specialist Friday to check for any other damage . A big blow to Waverly. Harpeth players and coaches were first class all the way in their concern and help as she was tremendous pain.

As for the game, Waverly was leading 1-0 in the bottom of the 5th. Pitcher Augusta McClary retired the first 14 batters she faced. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th, Waverly committed an error, followed by a walk, another error loaded the bases. Number nine hitter reached first on catcher's interference (bat hit glove) to tie score 1-1. Leadoff batter singled up the middle to score 2 and make it 3-1.

Waverly left 9 runners on base during the game and couldn't get the big hit when they needed it. Harpeth pitcher, Isle did a good job and got stronger in the later innings. Both teams did some good things and both teams showed some early season rust as well.

And to be fair to Harpeth, 4 starters(2 seniors) had just gotten back from basketball regions the day before the Dickson scrimmage without a day of practice.

Yeah that is true Harpeth's girl's did go far in basketball and evidently they have made the improvements necessary to remain a competitor in the district.
