  1. I am pretty sure that I was sitting in on the rules meeting when this same situation was brought up. I know that ondeck posted this a few posts ago as well, but Gene McNeese clear as day said that there was nothing wrong with it. Bottom Line, umpire trying to be seen. And as far as the rule posted earlier, how many other situations could that rule justify. Everyone knows that rule. When you have umpires who think they are big time and struggle making out or safe calls you will no doubt have an umpire make an ignorant judgment for the sole purpose of being seen and poking his authoritative chest out.
  2. Creek Wood and Northeast went at it yesterday in a Spring training scrimmage. I am just wondering who saw it and what people thought about the two teams?
  3. i remember just a couple of years ago when Dickson beat Wilson Central in a match-up where Adkins was pitching against a sophomore Owens. Nothing can be taken for granted. Good Luck Dickson County. Just another Creek Wood fan who is pulling for the Cougars.
  4. The CW- Sycamore game is washed for today already.
  5. 1st- TN Tigers 2nd-TN Tarheels 3rd-Nashville Celtics 4th-TN Bearcats 13u
  6. 1. TN Tigers-Blue 2. TN Tarheels(formerly TN Tigers Black) 3. Nashville Celtics 4. TN BearCats 13u The TN Tigers proved to be one of the top teams in the state blowing by everybody this past weekend. The two best teams had to play in the semifinals (Tigers and Celtics) therefore giving the edge to the Tarheels to get into state. The surprise team or the team that should get alot of credit is the 13u TN Bearcats. They blew out some decent 14u teams and just missed upsetting the talented Nashville Celtics group. Overall there are way too many teams in Middle TN for this age, therefore the talent is depleated and some of the teams dont have the best players. Look for the Nashville Celtics to try to snatch up alot of the good local talent. TOP Players in the Tournament 1. Meiko Lyles(TN Tigers)-Hands down the best player in the tournament. This kid is the real deal. 2. #4 (TN Tigers)-I only saw him miss 2 shots all weekend, this lefty knows how to stroke it. He plays string music everytime he shoots. 3. Chase Kilgore (Nashville Celtics)-Strong wing with good midrange game. He was set to have a big night vs the Tigers before being taken out with some calls that didnt seem there. 4. Telvin James (Nashville Celtics)-The quickest player and probably the best PG in Middle TN when on his game. 5. Anvil Nelson (TN Tarheels)- Big physical post presence who runs the floor extremely well. Played well with his back to the basket 6. #22 (TN Tarheels)-This may be the coaches son but he can flat shoot it from anywhere. 7. Terrance Clemmons( TN Trojans)-The most versatile player in the tournament on a team thats not really discipline. With more discipline this player will be one to watch when he gets to high school. 8. Melvin Garlington (TN Bearcats)-Only 13 but he played big all weekend. Leading his team in scoring and assist. His on ball defense and ability to create off the dribble makes him the top PG in the state at this point, and he can shoot. 9. Big kid from TN Bearcats-Talk about Athletic, he was a jumpin jack all tournament 10. #20 (Cleveland Allstars)-His team came to Lynchburg short handed but he more than made up for what they needed. A very smooth and talented player with great vision. A "BIG GUARD" but sees the floor and can absolutely shoot the lights out.
  7. Down playing the players' accomplishments this weekend and chalking it up to not much competition is not exactly being congratulatory is it. Those are quality programs. The TSSAA police might not have been there or they might have. Some chances are worth taking but not when it comes to possibly having to stay home during May because of an illegal game that didn't mean anything besides an extra gate. Two district games for us Monday and Tuesday and two non-district match-ups on Thursday and Friday(Dickson Co. and Rossview). We just played six games last week. Pitching as well as everyone else needs some rest. It was a beautiful day to just chill and rest up for another great week of baseball.
  8. Good baseball played this weekend in the Good Day to Play Tourney. Hunters Lane and CWood were declared Co-Champions because HL was not returning on Sunday. Understandable. Now about the situation with Harpeth. Yes, Harpeth did want to go ahead and play, but what most people do not understand, since it was not going to be a true championship contest for the tourney, it is illegal to "pick-up" an extra contest and play just to be playing in the middle of the season. It is like football playing a scrimmage in the middle of the season. Unscheduled contest. Against T$$AA rules. I'm sure the Harpeth contingent understand that. Congrats to Harpeth on a successful weekend of baseball. Sorry the competition was so week on the CWood side as you say straightbill. Hickman County, NorthWest, Giles County, and Goodpasture are all quality opponents as were the teams that Harpeth faced over the weekend. Bottom line is this: CWood is good and Harpeth is good. Leave it at that and quit taking jabs at the kids and their teams.
  9. The Wood picked up 2 wins on the day. 1st against Giles and then a 6-3 win against an always good Goodpasture.
  10. Creek Wood over Giles Co. in 6 11-1. The field is prime here at the Wood. Northwest and Giles are playing as we speak. It really turned out to be a great day to play.
  11. The rain this morning stayed south of Creek Wood's field but as of right now it is raining on the field. I am hoping that the field will absorb the water rather quickly even though the weekend forecast isn't looking real great.
  12. Coachrop is a great assistant and could be a great head coach if he so chose to be. He is just trying to get our younger guys some more reps. The way he signs his posts is of little concern to most readers and has since he started it become a trademark of his posts. JV games anyone?
  13. no doubt! but i have to say great usage of the emoticons though!
  14. Theil pitched for CW. McCanless will tomorrow
  15. Creek Wood comes out on top of a hard fought, come from behind win against Fairview. Both starting pitchers threw really well tonight. It was a great game to be a part of. The final 6-4. I would usually leave this to coachrop but i know everyone is waiting. Sorry coachrop! I am looking for another great game tomorrow night. Good Luck to both teams
  16. Why would there be a conference between the first baseman and knight when McCanless and the firstbaseman had been having words all night and then the very first thing McCanless got hit. He knew it was coming. Knight wasn't that wild! It really doesnt matter now anyway they just need to focus on the game tonight.
  17. Well i am not exactly sure that the coaches were mad about cheering as much as they were about the heckling. As i said on the other post there was plenty of it going around for both teams. Two very competitive teams going head to head stuff like that is going to happen. I don't think any less of anyone. I am glad that the competitive spirit is there. To me that shows how bad each person wants it. Having said that, i believe that both teams are well disciplined but no coach is going to try and kill the competitiveness of the players that makes the games so enjoyable to watch.
  18. At the very least we could say that the fan situation could be better both ways. It was a hard fought game by both teams. Two of the better pitchers in the district went at it and both pitched well. I hope that the teams battle hard again tonight and leave it all on the field. It should be another great battle. I don't think Theil and McCanless were acting like high school punks. They are both competitors and were recieving just as much or more abuse than they dished out. McCanless wasnt a threat at the plate last night and was still plunked with purpose. I am sure he wasn't happy about that. But like i said, i hope that everyone can leave last night in the past and come out ready to battle again tonight. I think it is best to call Theil and McCanless 1a and 1b. When either one is on top of their game they are both tough to beat. Good Luck to everyone playing tonight
  19. yes a Creek Wood freshman pitcher did throw a perfect game. her name is Katie Pacifici.
  20. Good Luck to all of the teams in 11-AA. Welcome in Fairview take your shoes off and stay a while.
  21. Three weeks and counting until the first official day of the season. I hope everyone's first week went well (great weather wasn't it?). See everyone on the diamond.
  22. If I'm not mistaken, Creek Wood is 5-7 with 2 games left. 4,5 & 6 could change depending on outcomes of their last two games.
