Hey speed, bring her on over, Devon and Goodpasture would love to have a tag team like that.

Sorry, I had bad information. The young pitcher turned out to be looking at the purple private school team and that deal didn't pan out. With their returning players and Kelsey C. healthy next year the Cougars will still have plenty of talent to make a run.

lol people love to wonder... Anyways goodpasture has been in the top 5 teams in the state the last few years.. This year they are just as good but there are a few more teams just as good.. CA is not one of them as a matter of fact about 80 percent of the teams in TN. would do good just to make a game of it . But i think next year will be a rebuilding year for them. A team like they have had doesnt come along very often. Look at how Lipscomb is doing .

Lipscomb had one thing, Megan Rhodes, I watched her strike out 15 players, actually pitch a "perfect game" and lose, because they did not have any hitting except megan. Hey my cup is half full so hopefully we our just adding floors and redecorating and keep the tradition going.

Since 1999 my daughters has played with and against many of the current, and upcoming, group of younger players. While the Goodpasture nucleus of starters may never again reach the combination that it is today the question was how they would stack up next season. The answer is simple, they will reload and challenge for the Region and State titles again for the next few years. The upcoming group of juniors and seniors will be very strong; I doubt there will be any debate about that. Not mentioned in any posting is the pitching talent in their middle school, specifically Nicki Bagwell. As for the younger players, 8th -9th grade, Wiley will be a big stick, Devon has matured into a very solid pitcher and Kelsey Cartwright is one of the best overall players in her age group in the state. She has always been blessed with exceptional overall physical ability, but over the past three seasons her change in travel teams has exposed her to the best competition in the country. She can help a team by playing middle infield or anywhere in the outfield.

As for a comparison to Lipscomb there is one big difference. The coach at Lipscomb actively coaches, and changes, the hitters swing mechanics starting in February. In many cases these changes are in direct conflict with the techniques being taught to the players by their individual hitting instructors. In high school sports it is a coach’s prerogative to coach the players as he see best, no disagreement just an observation. At Goodpasture their coach does not work on his players hitting technique, at all from what I am told by several parents. So basically the Lipscomb and Goodpasture coaches have two different philosophies on coaching hitters. Both teams had what were arguably the best pitchers in the state over the past three years. One team is about to win their third state title with a second place finish prior to that and one sent a pitcher to UT who set state career, and state tournament strike out records without a state title.

Not to ruffle any feathers, but, Goodpasture has several girls coming up that will make an impact next year. Tiffany Hibbs, Megan Bryant, Kelsey Cartwright and Nikki Bagwell will step in with Devon, Heather, Natalie and Amanda next year and not miss a beat.

If Hibbs starts next year at catcher (and she should) you will witness one of the best young catchers in the state...........just wait! A "pop" time of 1.67 is lethal! (And she's only 13)

hibbs is a good player and catcher but she will not start over the 2 older caters but i will predict that she will be plaing in some games if not all at third base and coming in to play catcher. i also think that emily will be the 1st string catcher for the lady cougars in the 2006 season

Is that certain freshman pitcher Riley Mashburn of Brentwood?...I heard that rumor too....if so, she couldnt make an immediate impact, because she would have to sit out a year for transfer.

I think Speed must have been referring to Katie Ayers, I heard that Katie interviewed over at Ryan a couple of weeks ago....and somehow that rumor spread like wildfire and even had it about Goodpasture, etc. Riley does have some friends that play over at Goodpasture and respects their program there and a few of the dads have mentioned her playing there but she really likes her HS team and her coaches and BHS school & has NO plans to go anywhere else!!! Go Bruins, bring home the ship!

YOu think that katie would be going to Ryan?....she would fit right in with all those lefty pitchers they already have. Ravenwood is going to have a hard time competing with Brentwood and Centennial the next few years since they both have young teams, so I guess it would make sense. It amazing how rumors get to flying, isnt it?

    • Wow I haven't been keeping up with softball had no idea.Been keeping up with baseball and we are slowly fading there.I will check it out!!Thx
    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
