USUALLY AN ERROR HAS OCCURRED FOR SOMEONE TO GET AN INSIDE THE PARK HOME RUN.......THE STAT KEEPER JUST SCORES IT AS A HOME RUN.....

An error definitely does not count as a homerun....but there are alot of smaller schools that play on city owned parks where slow pitch softball is played, so they may have a 300 foot fence where a ball rolling to it could create an inside the park homerun

I UNDERSTAND........I WAS JUST SAYING THAT THESE BIG SCHOOLS THAT PLAY ON REGULATION SOFTBALL FIELDS.....THERE STAT KEEPER USUALLY SCORES A INSIDE THE PARK HOME RUN A HOME RUN, EVEN IF A ERROR HAS OCCURRED....THAT'S THE REASON I THINK THAT HOME RUNS SHOULD ONLY COUNT IF THEY GO OVER THE FENCE......

14 home runs in a season is quite an accomplishment, but out of curiosity, does she play on fields with a fence, or are they balls just hit in gaps and roll a long way?

13 of the 14 homeruns were hit out of the park on 200' fences, or greater. The one that wasn't was hit at the Border Battle on 300 foot fence, (she crossed home plate before the ball made it back into the infield, so I'd qualify that one). Spectators present said it went at least 230 in the air. She hit 7 out last year, as an eighth grader playing high school, then 7 more for Extreme Edge (14) in summer travel. As for competition, Columbia Academy has long had the reputation of participating in strong tournaments, and will never be accused of playing lightweights. Please don't automatically assume that there must be a reason that a Freshman has hit that many? Maybe she's a great hitter????? Keep it up, Shelby!!!!!

Over the fence with room to spare. At McKnight Park last fall one almost hit a car in the parking lot. If you know the park you understand the distance.

Don't even think about throwing rise balls.

You would think that you couldnt throw rise balls to this young lady, but in reality that is the pitch that always strikes her out. She is a great hitter, but she is young and like other 14 year olds not used to seeing a real rise. She is however a good hitter.

You might want to research a little more, before you throw one. The risers and high pitches are the ones she takes for a ride!! Hang one up there, and watch it fly!!

Hitting 13 homeruns over the fence is great....but I did notice the scores posted on Coacht, and just about every time CA played a team with a real good pitcher, they were shut out....most of their high scoring games have been against some weak competition...so the jury is still out on how well she can hit a really good rise ball, like maybe what Catalano has at riverdale.

What you should be saying is "Don't even think about throwing fastballs up in the zone".....If it is a true rise with "pop" she would not be hitting it! Lot's of girls claim to throw a rise...but few actually do..or at least have the upward movement. Ask a GOOD hitting coach and he will tell you....How do you hit a rise ball......You don't....you just don't swing! Take the ball!

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
