this was a close 1st half game....but the panthers came out pumped in the 2nd half and ran away with it

Yep, the halftime score was close at 19-12, but the game really wasn't.

 

The first ten plays by North Greene were 7 runs for lost yardage, 1 incompletion, 1 punt and 1 turnover. Cumberland Gap went up by 19, and then got cocky in the secondary, trying to make interceptions instead of defending the receivers.

 

The Panthers got burned for big pass plays twice within the last 1:42 of the half, to make the game seem closer.

 

I went into the locker room at halftime, and the coaching staff was right on top of things.

 

Zeth Clemons left early with an injured wrist, but xrays show no break. He will be ready for G-P next week.

 

How about Trevor Hester on defense? Man, he must have had his Wheaties all week long! He was a one man wrecking crew. He also did a great job on the O line.

 

Switching him from # 32 to # 64 makes the coaches look brilliant. With all of the Panther's weapon on offense, Trevor wasn't getting many touches, so he was primarily a blocker anyway. Tonight he looked like THE blocker.

I just did the math, and assuming that West Greene can't beat Cumberland Gap on ANY given Friday, Region 1AA was decided last night.

 

1- Cumberland Gap (even if they slip up at G-P)

2- South Greene

3- Happy Valley

4- Gatlinburg-Pittman

You folks will probably get Oliver Springs in the first round of the playoffs , unless Rockwood upsets CAK and Loudon.
