Kingston beat who?

We have wrestled Knox West, Catholic, South Doyle, Heritage, & Alcoa so far. We lost to Catholic.

Tonight, at Kingston, we will be wrestling Maryville & W.B. Maryville & W.B. will also be wrestling Cleveland. For Kingston to upset either of these teams, someone will need to pull out a couple big wins. We start every dual 24 points down due to holes in our line-up. Tonight we will also be without our starting 152 due to an academic function that requires his presence for a grade.

Should be some good wrestling. Not often you can get this type of match-up in the East Tenn. area. Thanks to all the coaches for helping make this happen.

FHS beats Bearden!

FHS 44 - BHS 36

Excluding forfeits the score was BHS 24 - FHS 20

(we take our little victories any way we can get them)

Reveiz bros didn't wrestle, but wouldn't have made any diference in final score.

Details in this morning's News Sentinel (sorry I don't remember them all). BTW, as team statistician I found out last night how easy it was to call in results to the paper. I encourage everyone to give the sports desk a call and report their match scores.

I know it's a play on words, but, Maryville didn't "beat" Kingston last night. Kingston lost to Maryville. Not taking anything away from Coach Mark and his team, they are one of the best "large" school division teams in the E. TN. area. Final score was 30-45 Maryville. Kingston forfeits 5 weight classes.

Kingston also loses to William Blount, 32-39 with 4 forfeits.

No crying here, and no excuses. Just didn't want anyone implying that Maryville or W.B. "mopped" the mat with us. Maryville and W.B. have very strong programs and we very much appreciated them coming to Kingston last night. I believe Maryville was missing 2 key individuals, due to football, and W.B. has just recently lost what would have been a state qualifier. Good tough matches throughout the night. The gym was rocking with a very small crowd in attendance.

By the way, Cleveland was there also. Although we didn't wrestle them, I don't believe they are "down" as much as people have said. I believe Shields' match with Cleveland was a thriller. Shields came away with a 1 point victory.

    • Dyersburg is going to be good, really good. As mentioned, they have a lot of talent on the way and the trio of Chelby, Joya, and KayKay will only be better with a full season together under their belt. To me, playing in Murfreesboro two consecutive postseasons will only serve to make them more dangerous if/when they stand among the final eight teams this March. Experience, good or bad, always makes you better. And not only do they have experience, they know how to win there. Schedules are coming together for all of the teams and I am excited about what I am seeing on the preliminary drafts on Dyersburg’s schedule. I know I am being a tease, but it’s simply not my place to announce what another school is doing. With that said, I won’t go into specifics. However, I am excited about renewed home and away contracts for the non-district portion of the calendar. I think west Tennessee will have a lot of interest as well.
    • What does everyone have in the final 8? In no particular order. 1. Eagleville 2. Gordonsville 3. Greenback 4. Oakdale 5. South Pitt/ East Robertson-- not sure 6. Richland 7. Halls 8. Union City
    • They struggled to field a team last year. I don’t see them being much better?
    • sx good two know thay didun't waint that entarr citty two see yeller/red......
    • Couldn’t agree more.. Tate is a special kinda player , but fortunately for us we get a best of 3 series. I think our pitching is better than last year when we made the trip to west tn. Should be a fun 2 or 3 games.
