What made the Clay game so lopsided? Did there press hurt them?

What made the Clay game so lopsided? Did there press hurt them?

In the half court game post game they kept sealing our girls freeing up the baseline. They would drive our post defenders up the lane for either layups by the guards or passes into the post for easy buckets.

A large number of their points came off of fast breaks. It seemed like they were not bringing 5 people to the defensive boards and/or they were more determined to run the break than we were to stop it. Most of the problem there (except for not being able to pull offensive boards when we have numbers) from watching the tape was a lack of determined effort to sprint back on defense. They scored numerous times this way.

It was a blowout & Clay is a good team although I would be interested to see how the score will turn out if they do not get layup after layup. I do not remember the press being as much of a problem as their posts sealing on offense & on defense them getting a defensive board & tossing it downcourt to guards running out. Quite a few times it was get a defensive board, take a dribble & toss it down court. Then their guards would chase the ball down & score.

Even though Pickett played poorly, they still won 48-46. They had an early 16-8 lead but Sells got into foul trouble and one player always throws the ball away, so Van Buren caught up. VB got up 30-26 but Lindsey Wright hit a three and then Lindy Mason scored to put Pickett ahead. VB was ahead by 3 late in the 4th quarter, but with the score 42-41 VB, Sara Sells hit a three to put Pickett up 44-42. PC got up by 4 and held on to win 48-46. Their record is just 5-6 but have lost to top teams Livingston 7AA, York 7AA, Jackson Co. 7A, Red Boiling Springs 7A, Unaka and Clarkrange 7A. In any other district they'd be a top team.

Yeah I believe Pickett would be a top team if they were in any other district...Jackson County should win any district and I believe that if Clarkrange and RBS was in any other district they'd win it or come really close to winning it...PC just competing in a district with 3 teams that are all state calliber teams...PC is a young team and should get better in the next few years...
