With the new year it's once again time for my West Tenn Top 10. Each week I'll rate the top 10 teams in the West (outside Shelby County) regardless of classification. This is one man's INFORMED opinion but I certainly welcome feedback. Final disclaimer: This is not done to slight our friends from the Bluff City area, just to give recognition to those outside Shelby County.

1. Bolivar Central (11-4) Two-time defending champs are gearing up for another run. Visit Haywood tomorrow & host McNairy Tuesday.

2. Liberty (15-1) Crusaders are a legitimate state title contender. Boast 3 road wins over Top 10 teams. Can’t let down Tuesday at Southside.

3. Middleton (13-2) The other Hardeman Co. champs have split with their neighbors and have reloaded for another Single A title chase. Host Fayette-Ware tomorrow.

4. Haywood County (11-2) Tomcats are in good shape for another deep postseason schedule. Entertain Bolivar tomorrow.

5. McNairy Central (11-4) Bobcats will find out if they can contend in ultra-tough 12AA this week as they host Lexington tonight and visit Bolivar Tuesday.

6. Union City (11-5) Lost early to the Big 3 from the southwest but are cruising through District 14A. Could be tested Tuesday at Halls before Humboldt showdown.

7. Humboldt (12-2) The Vikings are enjoying their first season in Class A but face big district games at Lake Co. tonight and with Peabody Tuesday.

8. Lexington (11-3) Tim Gardner’s Tigers try to rebound from the Bolivar loss on the road at Selmer tonight & Henry Co. tomorrow.

9. Dyersburg (13-3) Trojans lost two tough ones in their own Christmas tourney but appear to be the 13AA frontrunner along with Crockett, their Tuesday foe.

10. Fayette-Ware (7-4) Wildcats have shown flashes of brilliance, have a win over Bolivar & all 4 losses are to Top 4 teams. Host a good USJ team tonight and visit Middleton tomorrow.

Honorable Mention: Adamsville, Crockett Co., JCM, Lake Co., Peabody
