For the second year in a row, the mighty Blue Hens of the University of Delaware won the first NCAA men's lacrosse game of the year, beating St. Joseph's 9-5 on Saturday. Next weekend, most other NCAA teams will begin their seasons. USLMDIA games are already underway as well, with several teams having games this weekend. SELC action was highlighted by FSU blowing out Auburn and Mars Hill while GA Tech manhandled South Carolina. Wake Forest is also out to a hot start with wins over UT and NC State.

Georgetown is probably the best team on their schedule, but Towson and Hofstra are going to be two very good teams this year. Albany should linger in the top 20 most of the year. Rutgers could jump into the top 20 if they play well. Look for Stony Brook has potential to jump into the top into the top 25, but their first several games are going to delay that movement until later in the year. Butler has a second year coach going the JUCO route and a strong defense returning. Not the toughest schedule the Hens have had recently, but Georgetown is definitely not the only good team on the list.

The last couple of years people have always brought up Rutgers, but ever since Delby Powless left they've failed to deliver. Heck, even when he was there they weren't too good. I will admit though Towson is gonna probably blow some people away. Thet've been building up the last few years and hopefully they can make a breakout season. Mabye they can even avenge a last year loss to Delaware, also.

I'm glad to se UD having a good start. As a player from Delaware, over the years of going to games up there, they were never really that good. They had some good games always, but usually never put out anything special. Hopefully they will maintain their poise and do well the rest of the year. i would expect to see some fierce competition from Hofstra, and Towson like they always have, along with others.
