A good place to start would be to hire a coach whose main interest is softball and will commit to staying around a few years to build a program.

Well I think Scott has found a pretty good coach now, and I also think that they will greatly improve this season.

Who would that be? I thought Chad Marcum was coaching? If so, he's a basketball coach, right?

I was simply making the point that in order to develop a really good program, Scott needs someone who's FIRST priority lies with softball.

Wow the question of how will scott county be? Hmm I think a better question is will they win a game this year? Scott County has a group of girls that tries hard but they just do not grasp the concept of softball. Scott County is just not a softball type of high school. Maybe one day they will find a coach that is dedicated to helping the girls and showing them the "RIGHT" way to do things, but then again that isnt going to turn a program around. You've also got to have girls that know what they are doing on the field. Its going to take more than just a coach to turn around this program sorry to say that but its the truth.

I hope they are better those two inning skunk rule games and forfits are getting old.

How do you think we feel? We have to watch as these girls get humiliated out there. We can see them getting frustrated when some of the other girls do not know where to throw it or they just stand there and hold the ball. We've watched as the pitchers stay out there and are not pitching well at all but the coaches won't take them out because "they can get it they just gotta warm up". I really think they will be better this year.

Coach Marcum knows his stuff when it comes to softball. I have seen it first-hand. He will teach the girls the proper way to play the game.

 

Now with that said, past playing experience (school & travel ball) of the girls will be the biggest factor. If he has to go back and teach the basics to most of the players, then obviously it will take time to get them up to speed.

 

If he is given the chance and is willing to stick around, he will have a positive impact on the team.
