GoBama
All this talk about Willie is great and everything ... But my question is : Why did Bolivar not work to get Chism the ball every possession? Correct me if I'm wrong ... but when Chism got the ball down there, DL had a really hard time stopping him - as they should a 6'9" 240 pound man. Did Bolivar's coach not see that Chism was scoring fairly easily when they got him the ball down low? I mean honestly, if DL had someone like Chism they would have worked the post like crazy all night. Was DL's post defense (which is very good I might add) too much for Chism? Yes, he had 21 points which is impressive, but those at the game ... don't you all agree that he would have had much more had they gotten him the ball a lot more? Also ... it didn't help that he would float to the top of the key at times - but that's when the coach steps in and tells him what he needs to be doing. Any thoughts? BIGWEBB says above "21pts 12rbs enough said'...and that's right. But Bolivar came out after the tip shooting a bunch of 3's...which if they'd fell and the Tigers had gotten hot...well, OK that is great. But I can't/won't speak for Coach Rudesill, but I'm pretty sure he wanted them to take it to an inside game and take advantage of Wayne's size and Willie's floor control well before they did. This is just my opinion...but let's call it an educated guess. I mean DL would have shot 3's with them all night if they'd done it! But our guys came around. I kinda see what you're saying...but whatever Coach R has been telling them all this time seems to be working pretty well to have gotten them this far! Either way...they pulled it out...as they usually do, and I don't think you'll see that kind of chance taking during the tourney. I'd be surprised if you did anyway. Joseg
21 points and 12 rebounds against Lipscomb is nothing to get excited about. They had no one even close to his size and ability. Also, Slater was the better point guard that night. Look at what he has to work with compared to your point guard. Bolivar was keying on him all night with double teams and pressure and still scored 15. Lipscomb did not do anything special on your point guard. And the argument the whoever wins is always the better player is dumb. They won because they were the better team, not because he was the better guard. They played a great game! It's just a difference of opinion is all. If they'd (BCHS) had started that inside game waaayyy earlier in the game, he'd (Chism) have had more than that. But I know that is only if and it's now history. To each his own opinion. Edited March 9, 2006 by firefulmer
Prosushi
this is fast degenerating into the classic "You didn't win, we beat ourselves" or "You didn't win, you just scored more points, we outplayed you" type deal. Like Firefulmer said, it's history.
