If it's a school policy and especially if the student's signed papers acknowledging compliance, then the principal was in right in every aspect to ask the students to comply with the dress code. Granted it may not have been the popular choice, but as a grown and hopefully responsible adult, it should be yours (and ours) duty to help uphold policies and rules, not coming on message boards and futher encouraging definace.

do you believe that forrest has a rule specifically banning male students painting their chests at a ball game, or is it more likely that this was the interpretation of a rule, by the principal?

having attended the past 27 girls state tournaments, i can tell you that this has been done for virtually every team with a student body attending the games.

 

basically, it was a silly decision, and it is to the man's credit that he had the good sense to reverse it, rather than degrade his own authority by fighting a senseless battle.

The only way the school has any athourity is if this was a field trip. If they are not on the school's time or the school's property then they cannot be punished by the school.

no. it also states in the handbook that at all ballgames, plays, extra curricular activities, etc. that these rules will apply. they are SCHOOL FUNCTIONS and the rules apply at ALL of these

How about these kids just wearing normal clothes and going to the game and cheering on their classmates and not looking stupid with paint all over them and marks on their bodies.. Leviticus 19:28 .. Read it sometime!!
