Anyone have any thoughts about the upcoming tomcat cup at Union University. It has Friendship, Haywood, Sheffield, and COlumbia Academy. What do yall think?

Haywood and Columbia in the final.. Columbia pulling off the win though. The Tomcats can get to the final but are probably really looking to gain experience against better opponents than their Region offers in this one.

Their won't actually be a final to this. It is a round robin tournament. Columbia Academy and Friendship play at Friendship on Friday night. And Sheffield already beat Haywood 4-1. On Saturday, at Union, the schedule will be as follows:

11:00 CA vs. Haywood, 12:30 Sheffield vs. Friendship

2:00 Sheffield vs CA, 3:30 Friendship vs. Haywood

Should be some good games....

I went to watch the game between Haywood and sheffield. Both of the teams have the ability to go to state. Sheffield has talented Players and Haywood does to. By the way Those three Players Made alot of difference because Haywood dont have Talented subs. #10, #7, #15, #12, #9, #5 are the Most Talented players that Haywood has. #9 scored the only goal against Sheffield. Haywood has Respect for Sheffield. Madison said that they give Haywood Credit but they DONT give them Respect. I Think that Haywood Played a hard game against Sheffield and all of their Starters. this Saturday I dont think that Haywood is going to Make it to Final because they are going to miss five of their Starters. They are going to be ready for BEST OF THE WEST.

were all of those players that you mentioned at the game? Everyone is wondering about this score because Sheffield has looked so bad this year and inconsistent and Haywood has looked so good, we just want so kind of explaination?

I was told from a player at Central that Sheffield seemed pretty disorganized when they played them, and I know Haywood was going into the game expecting a win. However what some people don't realize is that that was a rivalry game and we all know that in rivalry games things tend to be less predictable. I think Sheffield probably took that game more serious and prepared better though, as the Tomcats were focused primarily on Madison the day before that. They were missing some of their key offensive players, including some that scored on Madison the previous day, so that could have contributed. I also know that Haywood's starting keeper was not playing in that game.

It's tough predicted how good Haywood will play on any given day because most of their starters are also involved in a lot of other school functions; however by the time Best of the West comes around all of those will be over and they should be at full strength.

Columbia Academy comes away as Champions on points. They defeated Friendship Christian 2-0, Haywood 1-0, and tied Sheffield. The final points standings for the tournament were Columbia Academy 25, Sheffield 24, Haywood 10, Friendship Christian 1. (The point system was as follows: 6 points for a win, 3 for a tie, 2 points for a shutout, and 1 point for each goal(with a max of 4))

Congratulations to Columbia Academy

    • Gleason all over west Carroll in scrimmage. Gleason is big and fast
    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
