Notre Dame at Knox Catholic

Coach Jim Schermerhorn and his A/AA #2 ranked Notre Dame (8-2-1) team visit A/AA #4 Knox Catholic (9-1-1) tomorrow (Thursday) night for a 7:00 pm derby match between these traditional rivals.

On paper the teams appear very well matched. Their common opponents this season were AAA #4 McMinn Co. (ND lost 1-0, Catholic won 2-0) and DII #7 Baylor (ND tied 2-2, Catholic won 1-0). This rivalry has been enhanced the last few years by the presence of Catholic's Coach Peter Rosenblad who was an All-State keeper for ND in the late '90s (and a NCAA DIII All-American at Maryville College).

The Farragut v. Science Hill match will, as usual, get more publicity in Knoxville, but this match is likely to be the best contest in Knoxville tomorrow night when you consider that Catholic already tied (1-1) and then beat (2-0) Farragut and beat Science Hill (2-0), albeit in preseason.

Good luck to the Irish, and better luck to the Real--that is--Knox Catholic Fightin' Irish! The weather is supposed to be perfect and this should be a great game.

Hey Hoya... why don't you move the start time back to 8:00 so I can come see this game? We play in Lenoir City at 6:00. (We'll at least try and make it up there for the second half) Good luck!

Oh, does the Davis family have your cell #. I would love to have play by play while we are waiting.
