How many teams from Tennessee have ever won a National Championship in AAU?

The list looks good to me. The 15U Champion in 1995 should say TN Lady Tigers.

Very impressive (Coach Burkey??)!! 1991 and older was a little before my AAU involvement but looks like a hayday for TN girls basketball! What was the connection between the Stars and the Trojans and where are those coaches now??

Very impressive (Coach Burkey??)!! 1991 and older was a little before my AAU involvement but looks like a hayday for TN girls basketball! What was the connection between the Stars and the Trojans and where are those coaches now??

 

The Stars were founded in Oak Ridge by Lynn Burkey and Barry Haile in 1978. The Trojans were founded in the Upper Cumberland area a few years later by Bobby Gore and Danny Parker. After several years of competing against each other, the two programs decided to work together. As you can see, the results were very good!

 

Coach Burkey is now the coach of the Shelbyville Eaglettes and Coach Haile is coaching at Jefferson Middle School (Oak Ridge). Although both are now out of coaching girls basketball, Coach Gore was very successful at Livingston Middle School and Coach Parker was also successful at the middle school in Fentress Co. and later at Oneida HS and Whitwell HS.
