Will the Blue Devils worry the Vikings?

Outside of some newspaper preview articles, I haven't heard much about Unicoi County. What can they throw at the Vikings? Is there a danger of a Viking let down after the big win over Science Hill? Will they be looking ahead to their upcoming matchups with DB & South? I know one thing is for sure, I'm glad this one is on the road. Unicoi County always plays Tennessee High tough in Erwin, but plays the Vikings even tougher at the Stone Castle. What can we expect from the Blue Devils?

I seriously want to know how Unicoi plays the Vikings tough when over the past 5 years T.H.S. has beaten Unicoi by the score of 230-14. That's an average of 46 to <3. That being said I will say:

T.H.S.-46

U.C.H.S.-3

Mikey, I wasn't necessarily talking about the combined score of the last five years. More so the "physicality" of the game. They are always a hard nosed team of big strong kids. There was a game in the castle about three years ago that the Vikings only led by a field goal at the half. They must have gotten a fire set under them because they poured it on in the second half.

Sure this one looks like a runaway, but the Vikings better not be looking down the road. It would make Unicoi's season to win this one.

Haven't seen them play yet, but I know a couple of Blue Devils players and they tell me that the o-line is not very big, and neither is the d-line. That doesn't look good for a team that is going against a big, strong fast team like the Vikings, and especially not in the Stone Castle.

Sorry to my two Blue Devil buds, I'll be rooting for you, but I have to agree, TN High names their score in this one.

I have Tn. High and THS is pretty darn ggod maybe good enough to give even DB a fight next week but for Unicoi is in trouble if Coach Stubbs isnt looking ahead and is fully concentrated on this game i said the score should be big so we will see!

    • Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
    • Yeah, I read about their spring blue/gray scrimmage after I typed that.   Sounds like a real mess over there.  I just hate that for 'em.  Haw
    • Maybe OR will be, but Farragut, nah, I don’t think anybody realizes how much of a bad situation that program is in currently. I’m sure they will build out of it, but the next 3 to 4 years are going to be a long climb up.
    • Thats one of the problems of having an 8-team region. A team could make it in any other region, but the numbers work against them in this one.
