Well, I'd expect them to know which end of the floor they are shooting on! :thumb: Man, that is such a loaded guestion because your expectations should always be high, imo. If you settle for less, thats usually what you get. Your coach is a gamer and you should feed off his energy. I have a clue as to some of the things he likes to do so it's safe to bet you'll be fun to watch. I need to look around the league a bit before I can tell where you are going to land, but I do think you have a chance to be in the hunt with OS and Warburg. BUT you have to play solid basketball to beat those two. :thumb:

Other expectations I didn't mention:

-more sounds of swish, than clank.....when we have the ball! :thumb:

-that the and1 tour remains a show on ESPN and not at OHS! :o

-that the word unit becomes more important than the word individual.

-King is a winner. Heres hoping you keep him that way!

-B. Jacobs knees work for him instead of against him! You'll be surprised how much it will help if he remains healthy through the season.

-Abbott continues to develop......cause he already works hard!

-hope the guards realize they are all pretty good and they constantly encourage each other, instead of getting jealous of who gets the most PT! :D

-Coach King will get T'd before he plays his first District Game (odds are running 5 - 2 right now)(King, if you read this, your fire burnth HOT....and sometimes the refs get burnt!) :D

-I will be seen at a game munching on popcorn.......smiling and shaking my head!

-I will support, though thick and thin, these two teams.

No doubt kaz, we need jacobs to be healthy. He is a big part of this team. Abbot is by far the most improved player and he goes all out every day. He's gotten stronger and rebounds really well. All the gaurds will have to play well and all will see a lot of time. King will keep his hand on this team and will make sure this is a unit that works together because we have not standout player. He knows it will take everyone contributing to this team in their own way, and they will know their role. :thumb:

I have heard some very good things about Coach King and I know that the players are very excited to be playing for him. It appears that the players are able to express themselves a little more than they have the past couple of years, which I think is a good thing, and they all seem to be more relaxed.

I have also heard that the rotation has been cut way down and there will no longer be mass substitutions, which will only help becasue it will allow the kids on the floor to develope more team chemistry.

Benji Jacobs is a very big part of the team but a couple of other names you better get used to hearing are Zack Lambert and Logan Crowley because I am expecting a whole lot out of all 3 of these kids.

Good luck this year! :D

I doubt it. The last time these two got together it was a respectful game from the players. It sure was a good job by the coaching staffs in handling the X's and O's and kepping the "Joes" on the task at hand. Anyway, with no incidents on the floor, that is a positive for any future encounters! :thumb:

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
